Rota developed this quite spectacular, short chamber music work from the music he composed for the film 'Amanti senza amore (1947). The piece has been recorded for Teldec by Gidon Kremer And Oleg Maisenberg.

The Spanish violinist and composer Pablo de Sarasate (1844-1908) is one of the most fascinating personalities among the 19th-century virtuosos. The child prodigy received violin lessons at the age of five, gave his first concert three years later and, at the age of twelve, went to attend the renowned Paris Conservatoire. With his brilliant playing and smooth violin sound he took the concert halls of Europe and America by storm. Famous colleagues such as Saint-Saens, Lalo or Bruch wrote solo works for him. He too composed effective solos for his own use. His 'Zigeunerweisen' are a firm part of the virtuoso repertoire. The present collection unites unknown and well-known works by Sarasate, original works and arrangements - real treats and virtuoso fodder.

This anthology contains the best-known original compositions, classical manuscripts and transcriptions from the concert repertoire of the famous violinist Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962).

The edition is part of the Trinity syllabus 2007 (grades 6,7,8).

These two movements were originally intended for Kleine Suite for violin and piano (ED 7564), but were exchanged for the 'official' second movement published in the suite. Over the course of the reviewing of Zimmermann's early work, many surprising things have come to light again. These two alternative movements are not difficult to play, can be used for many different purposes and expand the repertoire by two unknown pieces by Zimmermann.
