The reputation of the Bohemian composer Zdenek Fibich (1850-1900) has always been somewhat overshadowed by that of Bedrich Smetana and AntonÃn Dvorák. This is a pity, for Fibich, though he died young, made an equally important contribution to the emerging Czech national styl with his wide range of compositions. After starting piano lessons with his mother as his first teacher, the boy went on to music school in Prague and then to the Leipzig Conservatoire, where he learned his craft as a composer. He spent a few months teaching piano in Paris and then continued his studies with Vinzenz Lachner in Mannheim. Prague was eventually to become the centre for Fibich's musical activities: as his dream of a post at the Conservatoire remained unfulfilled, his main employment was giving private music lessons and as a composer Zdenek Fibich wrote works for many musical genres: vocal and chamber music, piano pieces and orchestral works, operas, stage music and melodramas, literary recitals with orchestral accompaniment to which he gave a new lease of life. There are biographical traces to be found in the 376 piano pieces of the collection 'Moods, Impressions and Reminiscences' Op. 41, written in 1892-98: this tells of his love for his pupil Anezka Schulzová in the form of a 'piano diary'. Its four volumes were frequently a source of material for other works, such as the symphonic poem 'In the Evening' Op. 39 (also known as 'A Summer's Evening' and 'At Twilight'), written in 1893. For his second subject in this 'Idyll' Fibich used the minature no. 139, entitled 'Lento', from his collection of piano pieces. The violinst Jan KubelÃk played the melody from 1908 onwards with the title 'Poème', and the work is still known today under this title: its easy charm has made it a favourite tune in the classical repertoire. This arrangement is based on the orchestral version from which other material was adapted for the Prelude.Er stand und steht auch heute noch ein wenig im Schatten von Bedrich Smetana und AntonÃn Dvorák: der böhmische Komponist Zdenek Fibich (1850-1900). In the late 1600s and early 1700s, Germany was predominantly Lutheran and experiencing a religious movement known as the Pietistic Revival. The Pietists emphasized living a virtuous Christian life, and encouraged their followers to express their devotion by writing hymns.Katharina Amalia Dorothea von Schlegel was part of this movement, and likely came from an aristocratic family. She also may have belonged to an evangelical women’s seminary. Born in 1697, Katharina was a talented published poet and penned at least 20 hymns, including Be Still, My Soul. The text was sung to many different tunes, but it wasn’t until the 20th century that it was paired with its current melody.Johann Julius Christian Sibelius, later known as Jean Sibelius, was a Finnish composer and violinist credited with having helped Finland create a national identity in the early 20th century during its struggle for independence from Russia. In 1899, he wrote a symphonic poem as a covert protest against Russian censorship. While much of the piece is energetic, representing the Finnish people’s national struggle, toward the end the serene melody of Finlandia is introduced. Finlandia became a national favorite when Sibelius reworked it into a standalone piece. Sibelius composed prolifically, but he also spent time reworking many of his old compositions. In 1927, Katharina’s hymn text was paired with Finlandia, and it remains the most well-known musical melody for the hymn today.

All piece's main theme is generally based on Oriental pentatonic tone, And for 2nd movement, there is especially natural harmonics is used for special tone effect, to express oriental flute sound. and for 3rd movement, adapted Korean Traditional rhythm, for example, such as Kutkuri Jajinmori. 4th movement is Major key, but has deep sorrow. For Finale, Rondo form is used, and Korean Traditional Children's song is adapted as main Theme. Kim has formerly been concertmaster of Daegu City Sym. Orchestra as well as for the Michigan State University Orchestra. He was an advising professor for the Czech Republic’s Dobřichovice International Music Camp, and now Korean Suzuki Association. Since 2004, his compositions have been periodically performed by I Musici. His compositions have also been performed and recorded by the Vienna Waltz Orchestra, in Austria, the French Chamber Orchestra in France, and the Sophia Chamber Orchestra in Russia. Mr. Kim is a former Dean of Changwon National University’s College of Performing Arts. Currently he teaches student as Emeritus professor of Changwon National University.
