One of the most notable arrangements was made by Joseph Joachim, a renowned Hungarian violinist, and friend of Brahms.Joseph Joachim was a close friend of Brahms and one of the most renowned violinists of his time. He was born in Hungary and had a deep appreciation for Hungarian music. Joachim was so taken with Brahms' Hungarian Dances that he arranged them for violin and piano.Here is an arrangement for Violin and String Orchestra of Joachim's version for violin and piano.The PDF file contains the score and parts.

Duration – about 8 minutesThere are three arrangements available;School – for Solo Violin, Violins 1, 2 and 3, Cellos 1 and 2.  Standard – for Solo Violin, Violins 1 and 2, Viola, Cello and Double Bass.  Violin and piano.   Andante For Solo Violin And Strings was written in July 2018 for Gary Woolf, flautist and conductor of the Banda Di Musica, the youth string orchestra at the music school in Greven / Emsdetten / Saerbeck in Germany.The piece begins with a beautiful, melodic Andante where the melody alternates between the violin solo and the orchestra and giving out a mood of wistful calm. This soon leads into a lively folk-like Moderato Dance section with a great catchy tune and punchy rhythms. These two different sections compliment one another, adding variety and excitement as they repeat themselves half way through so that both melodies get plenty of work-out! The piece would very much suit young players, although amateurs and professionals alike can enjoy it.

The premier was broadcast on NPR’s Performance Today and was also the centerpiece for a nationally broadcast public radio special, America’s Fiddler, Mark O’Connor at the Library Of Congress. Although O’Connor did not utilize the piano as a back-up instrument in his childhood fiddling contests, it does have a tradition accompanying fiddlers in Scotland, Shetland and Canada. The Sonata begins with Introduction and features a melodic and romantic theme with beautiful chords. Hoedown, in D minor, is very lively and tuneful. The Waltz is a lovely theme that undergoes some insightful development. The finale, Gigue, is a 6/8 dance which is quite a romp and features some fast bow work on a very catchy tune.
