As it is such a popular hit I was surprised to find that the original was by Bob Dylan, from the album ‘Time out of Mind’ from 1997, and also that it has been covered many times by different artists.Why choose my arrangement?I have arranged the piano part to follow the original very closely, transposed into G Major, as I also want to be able to play it in gigs with my daughter who is a singer. As such I have made the piano part to lie under the fingers, making sure the clefs are easy to read. I have also included a ‘piano only’ score as it falls onto three pages, and is convenient for performing, as well as the two piano scores with each violin version.Some of the harmony is slightly changed, and I composed my own bridge passage with hints at the original. Also Adele sings a quite dissonant G in the melody, against the F sharps in some of the verses. Personally I love this, but it would need to be played subtly, and the clash is less obvious in the less dense sonority of a vocal part, so I have left this option open by notating the safer version, and suggesting the dissonance rather than the other way around. On the video is an example of both.I also include a bonus ‘Easy Violin’ Part that younger players will enjoy, or perhaps the pupils of those who buy the professional level arrangement. It requires some simple shifts in the Chorus and Bridge section. However, there are some places where an open ‘A’ could slip by unobtrusively in quaver passages too. Feel free to take as many bows as you need and don’t feel bound by my bowing suggestions. I have changed my mind many times! Just do what feels comfortable and enjoy it. Some places I have left out bowing altogether eg Bar 27 where you can experiment or discuss with your teacher.Adele sings the original at 72 bpm but I think you could certainly go as high as 76 bpm without losing that mournful quality, and it will help young players with their bowing.My Youtube Channel has many of my arrangements for String Quartet, recorded by the Worcestershire, UK ‘Capriccio Quartet’, as well as many songs for instrument and piano. Juan MarÃa Solare: Dimensión Dimensión is a neolassical tango that was composed based on two simple piano pieces destined to young pianists: the first theme is Langostango and the second one Continuando. When joining to build up Dimensión, additional elements came into the game, such as an important secondary melody and a few transitions. Dimensión is therefore a clear example of a successful composition: a couple of good ideas and a lot of work to achieve that nobody notices how much work lies behind it. About the title, it obeys to my (slightly excessive) concern towards finding names that can be understood in any language of the places I usually am related to (i.e. in Spanish, English and German). In the case of dimensión it is a transparent word, understanding as such the words that are practically identical in any language while keeping their meaning (there exist words that are quite similar in different languages, but mean different things, in Linguistics these are called false friends.) Among my titles one finds several of such transparent words. In September 2002 I startd conducting the Orquesta No TÃpica at the University of Bremen, Germany, a chamber group of variable instrumentation devoted to tango music. Dimensión was the first piece that I composed especially for this group, in January / February 2003. The original version of Dimensión is therefore for Sextet: flute, clarinet, violin, guitar, bass, piano.Since that first version (performed several times in Germany and Argentina) I wrote a long dozen of arrangements for different instrumental groups.

This arrangement adapted for violin and piano was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, in order to be performed by young music students who want to enter the symphonic music. Besides, it can also be used by professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change of key, so that it is comfortable for all the instruments in the formation, as well as for use in ensemble practice between musicians of different traditions.Ludwig van Beethoven began concentrated work on his Symphony No. 7 in A major Op. 92 in 1811, it was completed in 1812, and was dedicated to Count Moritz von Fries, and premiered in Vienna on December 8, 1813. It is considered a remarkable example of the more ebullient side of Beethoven's compositional personality and evidence that even after the onset of deafness, he still found cause for musical optimism. The second movement Allegretto is a funeral march in everything but name. Often several contrasting melodic ideas are made to coexist, as if Beethoven were imagining several processions converging on the cemetery at the same time. As he was working on this symphony during the years of the Napoleonic Wars, this experience was probably within his experience. It was also used as the soundtrack to the film Knowing, by director Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage, where it is used in the final scene of the film. Beethoven called Symphony No. 7 his most excellent symphony, and a music critic of the time reported, this symphony is the most melodically rich and the most pleasing and comprehensible of all Beethoven's symphonies..

My youngest daughter recently asked me to write some more things she could play in church, and being too busy to do something from scratch, it occurred to me that this piece would work fine for violin. It is about six minutes long with some nice mood changes. It would make a fine prelude, offertory or special. It would also be a good concert or recital piece. It is challenging -- not a good selection for anyone less than advanced intermediate. The piano accompaniment also has its challenges. However, people who have heard this piece have found it quite enjoyable and have said so. I wish a had a recording of a live performance to share with you, but this Finale version is really not to bad, especially when you consider that I am not very good yet at using the human playback feature that Finale offers. His musical career was predetermined for his father served as assistant principal violinist to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. At the age of 8, little Stanley gave solo performances, auditioned for Leonard Bernstein in 1947 and thus became the youngest principal violinist of the New York Symphony Orchestra. Weiner's career as a composer started rather late, at the age of 35, but then he wrote over 200 works, particularly instrumental music of all genres. The 'Latin American Suite', dedicated to the violin virtuoso David Oistrach, is an effective work which begins with a sweeping virtuoso Allegro con brio. Baroque form, expressive melody and delicate sound effects are combined in the middle movement, headed Basso ostinato, until the work culminates in a rhythmically fresh and capricious Molto vivace.

In January 1913, Debussy struggled to complete Toomai des éléphants as the 11th prelude in Book 2, finally replacing it by a rather Stravinskian study Les Tierces alternées. However, his daughter Chouchou was fascinated by elephants and in the summer of 1913, Debussy wrote her a ‘Toybox Ballet’ (La Boîte à joujoux) which contains a ‘Pas de l’éléphant’ and an ‘old Hindu chant which is still used to train elephants [in India]. It is constructed on the scale of “5 o’clock in the morningâ€, which means it must be in 5/4 time.’ My reconstruction of this lost prelude is based around this material and it evokes a day in the life of Toomai, the young mahout, and his faithful elephant Kala Nag from one dawn to the next, incorporating the legendary ‘Elephants’ Dance’ from Rudyard Kipling’s First Jungle Book (1894) which only Toomai was ever privileged to witness. The version presented here is the revised second version of this prelude which contains an effect of piano harmonics as the dawn returns towards the end.

As a theorist, his areas of study vary widely, including 18th century counterpoint, the early American Sacred Harp tradition and impressionism. In 2020 he was awarded the Michigan Music Education Association’s Young Composers of Michigan award, as well as first prize in the University of Toledo Young Composers competition. The reputation of the Bohemian composer Zdenek Fibich (1850-1900) has always been somewhat overshadowed by that of Bedrich Smetana and AntonÃn Dvorák. This is a pity, for Fibich, though he died young, made an equally important contribution to the emerging Czech national styl with his wide range of compositions. After starting piano lessons with his mother as his first teacher, the boy went on to music school in Prague and then to the Leipzig Conservatoire, where he learned his craft as a composer. He spent a few months teaching piano in Paris and then continued his studies with Vinzenz Lachner in Mannheim. Prague was eventually to become the centre for Fibich's musical activities: as his dream of a post at the Conservatoire remained unfulfilled, his main employment was giving private music lessons and as a composer Zdenek Fibich wrote works for many musical genres: vocal and chamber music, piano pieces and orchestral works, operas, stage music and melodramas, literary recitals with orchestral accompaniment to which he gave a new lease of life. There are biographical traces to be found in the 376 piano pieces of the collection 'Moods, Impressions and Reminiscences' Op. 41, written in 1892-98: this tells of his love for his pupil Anezka Schulzová in the form of a 'piano diary'. Its four volumes were frequently a source of material for other works, such as the symphonic poem 'In the Evening' Op. 39 (also known as 'A Summer's Evening' and 'At Twilight'), written in 1893. For his second subject in this 'Idyll' Fibich used the minature no. 139, entitled 'Lento', from his collection of piano pieces. The violinst Jan KubelÃk played the melody from 1908 onwards with the title 'Poème', and the work is still known today under this title: its easy charm has made it a favourite tune in the classical repertoire. This arrangement is based on the orchestral version from which other material was adapted for the Prelude.Er stand und steht auch heute noch ein wenig im Schatten von Bedrich Smetana und AntonÃn Dvorák: der böhmische Komponist Zdenek Fibich (1850-1900). Zu Unrecht, denn mit seinem umfangreichen Oeuvre hat der allzu früh verstorbene Musiker ebenfalls entscheidend zur Begründung einer nationalen Schule beigetragen.
