Published by BDB Publishing (A0.1510500). A relatively short Violin Sonata (11 min.) composed in 1939 by a well known and widely published American composer of the first half of the 20th century. Dr. Thompson was commisioned to compose an oratorio for the 150 anniversary of the Methodist church, an organ method and many liturgical choral works. It was written for his daughter and is written in a romantic, American style. The difficulty level is moderately easy making it a good choice for a student on the Suzuki 8 level, or for a short opening recital work. The Sonata was unpublished commercially until 2024.

The macro-structure of this single-movement work is cast in a modified sonata form. The exposition presents two contrasting themes, followed by the development of this material, and a recapitulation, which returns to thematic contents of the exposition. The modification of traditional sonata form lies in the recapitulation of the themes in reversed order. This reversal allows for the formation of an arch structure, where the climax is achieved in the middle of the work, rather than at the end. The recapitulation is truncated, as it restates the thematic material of the beginning in a more fragmented, referential and disintegrated form. Generally, the musical language is grounded in extended tonality, which serves as a platform for the organic treatment small musical units.

Nómade is the second movement of Sonatango: a classical sonata in form and tango-ish in character. This is possibly my most performed composition, since: - it is accessible to the audiences - it is technically relatively easy to perform and doesn't require many rehearsals - there are more than 30 versions / arrangements from solo piano over duos and chamber music ensembles to full orchestra. - it can be performed in different occasions ranging from recital to funeral (actually, I performed the organ version of Nomade at my mother's burial). - is a good example of crossover between classical music and popular music. It might be even considered neo-barroque music! Nómade, as the whole Sonatango, is dedicated to my sister MarÃa Mercedes. Published by Padgett Music Llc (A0.1140764). Fiorillo's Violin Etude No. 22 is a beautiful work reminiscent of a slow movement from a concerto or sonata rather than a parochial exercise. For this reason, I composed an original piano accompaniment to make it more suitable for recitals. I welcomed the challenge of making musical sense of some of the work's more enigmatic sections (e.g., bars 16-21 and 48-53). The accompaniment incorporates elements from the violin solo to establish an organic connection between the two parts. The violin part is meticulously annotated for ease of study and is particularly useful for private instruction.
