I was enthralled by her playing and CPE's music!!! Confession: I have been a fan of CPE for decades!!! My next project is a sonata for violin and piano. I thought I should try my hand at incorporating CPE's style into TOLmusic. Why not??? This will be my fifth sonata for violin and piano. The work is in seven movements. NB: I accidentally found some enigmatic titles in CPE's Petites Pièces per il Cembalo Solo. These are so amusing and funny compared to the usual Adagio, Allegro,Presto, etc. I see as titles in CPE's music that I decided to steal a few of them for my own work. I. La Stahl ... Largo II. Program note: I first met Minami Yoshida when I hired her and her colleagues in the Nico Quartet for a recording session of my Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) in the Eben Jordan Studio at the New England Conservatory of Music and then I heard her at an Honors String Quartet concert with Nico in Jordan Hall. Both events were in the spring of 2019 and she and the quartet were fantastic. I was so impressed with her and her quartet that I wrote a string quartet for them that summer, NICO. They recorded it for me @ NEC in the fall and I love the recording. The next thing I did was to offer to Minami to write a violin sonata for her. She was thrilled with the idea. I decided to call it Mi-la-mi, after her name; the first three notes in the violin for this work are: E - A - E. Mi-la-mi (2020) is in four movements. 1. Moderato, TRIO, Allegro vivace 2. Because amateur performers would gather in unusual permutations of players, this Trio was quickly arranged for many other combinations of instruments: versions exist for two violins and bass line, two flutes and viola, two clarinets and bassoon, as a sonata for violin and piano, and in various piano settings. . In 1806, Beethoven approved an arrangement (not by him) for two violins and viola, which was published that year. It was assigned the misleadingly-high opus number of 87, which would seem to place it near the Seventh Symphony; in fact, this music was written before Beethoven had published his Opus 1. . This is the 3rd Mvt. (Menuetto and Trio).

This is The 2nd mvt of the Wind Trio Op.87 I have transcribed the original parts, but have added further instruments so that it can be performed by other combinations. Parts included are: Wind Trio 1.oboe 1/clarinet in Bb 1 2.oboe 2 /clarinet in Bb 2 3.cor anglais/alto clarinet 3a. bassoon/bass clarinet (lower octave than cor a) Flutes could also play the oboe parts.
