Published by Goomba Publishing Company (GPC) (A0.1484815). I composed this piece with the early string orchestra in mind at the 2nd to 3rd year ability level. All the instruments are in 1st position only. I also doubled the 2nd violin with the viola, and the cello with the bass. This was done to accomodate ensembles that might have incomplete instrumentation while having all of the parts covered. Scored in the key of G major with a modulation to C major, then to D major and finally a return to G major. I hope you enjoy my composition. Thank you!

BALLAD (IN D) is not a difficult piece but will require the use of vibrato and a degree of sensitivity for it to sound as intended. It is suitable for early intermediate to intermediate students. It is arranged in three part harmony and comes with full score and parts for Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello and St. Bass. I am certain you will agree that it will make a beautiful addition to any concert. It is composed in D major and 4/4 time, with a simple yet catchy melody. Vln 1 does go to an open E while the bass NEVER needs to play above A. Written for 3 part string orchestra and piano, it introduces DC al Fine, uses pizz and arco in the violin and viola section, forte and mezzo forte dynamics, simple 2 part harmony and uses only half-notes, quarter-notes and quarter-rests. It is a great piece for that end of the year concert. Key of D, Grade .5-1 4/4 time Everyone needs to know the D scale.

THE EMPEROR’S HYMN by Joseph Haydn is one of the most famous played pieces in music and was written in honor of the Emperor Francis II, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and later of the Austrian Empire. This tune has since been widely employed in other contexts: in works of classical music, in Christian hymns, in alma maters, and as the tune for the national anthem of Germany Although playable and enjoyed on all levels it is written for young string players on the easy intermediate level and is scored in 3 part harmony with viola doubling 2nd violin and cello doubling string bass. In the event instrumentation is lacking this concept will make your group sound fuller and give your players more confidence. Includes full score and parts for Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello and String Bass. It is written in D Major and modulates to G Major. I hope you and your students enjoy performing this piece. Written completely in 1st position for ease of playing, the second violin is doubled in the viola, and the cello is doubled in the double bass.
