It was officially adopted as the national anthem of Poland in 1926, although it had been its unofficial one since the end of the First World War in 1918. The lyrics were written by Józef Wybicki in July 1797. The music is a based on a Polish folk tune. This arrangement can be performed by as few as six players, or as many as a large string orchestra.

It was later republished in the collection Carols for Choirs (1961), and continues to be widely performed.

It is an original Harp improvisation to be accompanied by an adaptation for strings inspired by Tchaikovsky`s choir piece „Cherubic Hymn. The harmonic structure of Tchaikowky`s original work has been faithfully reproduced, so all credits for this piece goes to him. Rather than an arrangement, the outcome of this adventurous experience resulted in an improvisation for the Harp. With the added melodies on the Harp and the stringed instrumental caracter of the orquestral adaptation, the piece gains a stronger tone contrast, keeping at the same time its deep spiritual beauty, thus bringing it to a wider range of public and performance choices. it is very easy to perform, yet it moves deeply both performer and public. The piece is appropriate for beginner students. It can be used in serious concerts and all kinds of cultural events. It is a very Spiritual piece, it induces a wonderful mood in Baptism or Christmas celebrations. One can get married to it. The piece is also appropriate to honor someone in a funeral. Although this score was composed in full intent to be performed as written, the Harp part can be played by itself and the orquestral arrangement from the Hymn can also be performed without the Harp. This score was conceived so that without adaptations, the Harp the orchestra and the original Choir could perform at the same time. Or intercalated „Ad Lieb, the Harp with the choir, or the orquestra with the choir. Instead of a full string orquestra one can also use just a string quartet and a doublebass. A Little Historical Note. „The Cherubic Hymn is part of the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom written in the fourth century by the Byzantine saint, honored as such by both Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches. In the context of the liturgy, the hymn is sung during the most mystical and spiritual part of the service as a prelude to the transubstantiation of bread and wine into the real presence of Our Lord. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the inspiring Master and genial composer with whom I had the happy causality to write this improvisation or „collab was born in; 25 April/7 May 1840 – 25 October/6 November 1893, was a Russian composer of the late Romantic period, he created an outstanding number of unique musical masterpieces. Tchaikovsky was honored in 1884, by Emperor Alexander III, and awarded a lifetime pension. I arranged this for my own beginner orchestra. Easy to rehearse and perform. Very popular with the audience. Sonata Op. 49 No. 2 Arranged from Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 20, this is a simple but interesting work in two movements showing the composers sense of humor. The first movement Allegro ma non troppo and the second movement Tempo di Menuetto are both in the key of G. Both Sonatas 19 and 20 (op. 49, No. 1 & 2) are named Easy Sonatas because they are technically easier than the usual Beethoven Sonatas. This makes them very popular among students and teachers alike. Beethoven Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 –1827) was certainly a German pianist. Above all, he was probably one of the greatest composers in history. As a result, he is a pivotal character in the progress between the Classical and Romantic periods. He is certainly one of the most famous and hence important of all composers. Seems like his most familiar and noteworthy works include symphonies 1-9; piano concertos 1-5; and furthermore, the violin concerto. Also, certainly of extreme importance are the noteworthy 32 sonatas for the piano; the string quartets 1-16; the Missa solemnis; and likewise, his only opera, Fidelio. Beethoven Overview First of all, Beethoven was born and consequently raised in Bonn. Upon turning 21 he moved to Vienna probably to study composition with Haydn. That’s when he consequently grew a reputation as a brilliant pianist. Furthermore, he probably stayed in Vienna the rest of his life. In his late 20s it seems like his hearing certainly began to decline. It slowly declined until consequently he was nearly totally deaf probably by the last decade of his life. As a result, he stopped conducting and performing. Nevertheless, he continued to compose. As a result, some of his greatest works probably come from this period. First Period Seems like we often divide Beethoven’s life into three periods. Period 1 begins with Beethoven’s arrival in Vienna. Hence, during this period, he mastered the Viennese style of Haydn & Mozart. He consequently began increasing the size and scale of his works. Furthermore, he experimented with extreme dynamics, and likewise extreme tempi. He worked similarly with chromatic harmony. His First and Second Symphonies therefore belong to this period. Other important works also belong here: the first six string quartets and the Sonata Pathétique, Op. 13. Second Period His second period probably began as soon as he realized that he was going deaf. During this period, it seems like he became obsessed with the idea of heroism. His works consequently become even larger and more massive. The most noteworthy of these include the symphonies 3 – 8, piano concertos 5& 6, 5 string quartets, several important piano sonatas (Waldstein and Appassionata), the Kreutzer violin sonata, the violin concerto and his only opera: Fidelio. Third Period In contrast, Beethoven's third period is branded above all by works of incredible intellectual depth, formal innovation, and penetrating expression. It seems like he continued to expand his works. Consequently, the string quartet Op. 131 spills over into seven connected movements. Likewise, in the Ninth Symphony he adds choral forces to his orchestra probably for the first time in history. Even more, other works from this period include his Missa solemnis, the final 5 string quartets (including the enormous Große Fuge) and the final five sonatas for piano. www.jamesguthrie.com.

It is a dance of unbridled joy to celebrate a rich harvest of nature's bounty. In 2013, I transcribed it from my private archive of old dusty audio tapes no one had ever heard, and with the CarsonValley Sinfonia in mind, revised it for string orchestra without winds.1995 was a low period in my life. The pressure from my job in the technology industry was relentless, and personal relationships at that time sometimes brought emotional pain instead of solace and comfort. Grasping for any ray of hope to illuminate the gloom, I turned back to my original love: music.Immersing myself deeply in the process of music creation, I rediscovered not only a talent for composition, but even more importantly tapped into the creative source of uplift, joy, and energy, the source of all gifts, that is available to every sincere person. During those years, composing music was a vital lifeline. Like the powerful beam of the rescuer's flashlight guiding you toward the daylight when you are emerging from a dark cave. Like a new baby being born. Now a great many years later, life now brimming with music and friends, and having put old sorrows far behind me, music from that time of troubles still fills me with the same joy as when I composed it, and I hope it uplifts you.Harvest Dance is dedicated to my friend, composer John O'Neill, with profound appreciation for his encouragement, as well as helping me learn the practicalities of arranging for a string orchestra.

They are arranged so that they can be performed as a work for String Orchestra or String Quartet. This is possible because the Cello and Bass parts are doubled. Found in several late-16th-century and early 17th-century sources and preserved at the University of Cambridge. Christmas and New Year texts were associated with the tune from as early as 1686. The tune is contained in several of Dowland’s lute manuscripts; in William Ballet’s Lute Book; in Sir John Hawkins’ transcripts of virginal music; in The Dancing Master; The Beggar’s Opera; and in many other books. The earliest known source of the tune -Trinity College, Dublin ms. D. I.21, c. 1580 - known as William Ballet's lute book- gives the tune in the melodic minor scale. Greensleeves is also often played in a natural minor scale and in the Dorian Mode. This arrangement is inspired on the transcripts of virginal music from Sir John Hawkins’. The piece is appropriate for beginner students or amateurs and without any doubt very pleasant to listen when played by an experienced ensemble. Jesus Loves Me is one of the most well known and beloved hymns in the Christian faith. This is a hymn that we all learned at a very early age, perhaps in Sunday School, Bible School or Junior Church. It has been with us since 1862. The lyrics were originally written in 1860 as a poem by Anna B. Warner. Then in 1862 the poem was put to music by William Bradbury. This beautiful hymn has withstood the test of time like Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross and so many moreThis arrangement is written for String Orchestra and has three verses and choruses. The first version closely follows the original harmonic structure without any deviations. The second version utilizes a different harmonic sequence and includes some rhythmic changes in a few spots. Finally,the third version again includes a different harmonic sequence, modulates to a different key and contains an extended ending.This is a wonderful piece that can be played as special music for your church service, or offertory.

But this highly prominent Hindemith pupil has written yet more of this educational music: all in all 3 sinfoniettas, in addition to collections of easy movements such as '14 Easy Pieces for String Orchestra' from 2002 which is also suitable for a Streicherschule. The individual movements involve specific styles and demands: cantabile playing, unusual and changing time signatures, bowing, pizzicato, intonation, scale playing, and so forth. The use of a double-bass is ad libitum. The pieces can be played separately or as little suites and are ideal for school and amateur orchestras; and regardless of it's educational nature, this music is lively and fun to play!

This tune has since been widely employed in other contexts: in works of classical music, in Christian hymns, in alma maters, and as the tune for the national anthem of Germany Although playable and enjoyed on all levels it is written for young string players on the easy intermediate level and is scored in 3 part harmony with viola doubling 2nd violin and cello doubling string bass. In Our Hearts Forever is a short piece with a beautiful melody utilizing harmony with modern jazz chords.  This composition was written for a dear friend of many years. If you would like to add a modern day  sound to one of your concerts this would be a nice addition. It is written for Intermediate easy.  Comes complete with full score and parts.
