It is a tone poem or a sound piece that was composed for a second year String Orchestra. It tells the story of a winter day that starts out cold and peaceful but soon the snow starts to fall and the winds start to pick up. Before long, a winter storm has arrived! You will hear many winter tunes stated briefly throughout. These represent various melodies that are carried around by the wind. You will hear the Hallelujah Chorus when school is cancelled! I hope it makes you think of snowmen, sledding, ice skating and snowballs flying. All the wonderful things that make winter a special season.MUSICAL ELEMENTS:• No slurs are written in but feel free to add them as desired. • The Piano part is optional but adds to the presentation• Accents• 5/4 meter 2 + 3 subdivision • Changing meter• Dynamic levels • Crescendo• Tremolo• Glissando (Cello and Viola - measure 50)• Pizzicato (in Violins and Double Bass)• Chance Music - random notes (Violin 1 - measure 31)51 measures. Technical challenges include 12/8 time signature and hemiolas meaning the main parts are best suited to ABRSM Grade 4+ standard players. The arrangement can be mostly played in first position, reaching briefly to a top G in first violin only. The arrangement also includes an easier part for Violin & Viola suitable for grade 1-2 level. A piano part is included but is not needed for performance. Multiple part copies can be printed from this download. Please do not share or distribute. The string quartet parts can be performed alone and are also available as a separate download: H0.1122165-SC000004914 About the arranger Tim Crooks trained as a violinist and violist, working professionally in Manchester (UK) for many years. He was a founding member of the Manchester String Quartet and scored many arrangements for the group's recordings. Tim now orchestrates and conducts, working with orchestras including Manchester Camerata, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the Philharmonia. Allegretto.Beethoven's Bagatelles Op. 33 are pretty typical of his early style, retaining many compositional features of the early Classical period.  The first bagatelle is arguably one of Beethoven's most well-known pieces. While they may seem light-hearted and not to be taken too seriously, they are still well-crafted works that embody the younger Beethoven's style. The Bagatelles Op. 33 were composed by Beethoven in 1801-02 and published in 1803. Bagatelles are shorter and less complex than sonatas, often consisting of a single movement. They were intended to be played as light entertainment or as encores at the end of a concert.Beethoven's Bagatelle No. 3 of Op. 33 showcases the composer's evolving style. Bagatelle No. 3 is in ternary form, with a lively and playful A section in F major that features a chromatic mediant relation. The A section is characterized by a rhythmic motif that is repeated throughout the piece, while the B section develops a lyrical melody that modulates briefly to the dominant: C major. The piece ends with a return to the A section, which is played with slight variations. Overall, Bagatelle No. 3 is a charming and delightful piece that showcases Beethoven's mastery of form and his ability to create memorable melodies.

I hope that this collection of tunes will bring more joy and more of the Magic of Irish Music closer to musicians of all ages. The tunes in this book are very well known traditional Irish tunes, good at any Irish session! There is a link to the first tune of the book to give you an idea of what the music sounds like. The tunes in this book are very well known traditional Irish tunes, good at any Irish session! I chose these particular tunes first because they are good tunes, but also because they are accessible to the Cello, and in the same key as the Fiddle.. They make a very good supplemental resource for growing fiddlers, fun to play, and can be used with the Cello book of the same name. Please enjoy these great tunes!
