String Orchestra - Level 2 - SKU: A0.835566 Composed by Vincent Vitale. Contemporary. Score and parts. 10 pages. Vincent Vitale #4988187. Published by Vincent Vitale (A0.835566). RONDO MODERATO is written for a beginning string orchestra where students have 2-3 years of playing experience. I chose to write this piece in a three part harmony so if you are lacking instrumentation this will certainly benefit you and allow your group to sound fuller…the 2nd violin and viola are doubled as are the violincello and contrabass. There can be as little as one player per part or placing numerous players on each part will produce a bigger and fuller sound. Even advanced players will find these pieces fun to play. Complete with full score and parts. Music does not have to be difficult to sound good. If you are looking for something playable and full sounding you found it in this string orchestra series for young players composed by a retired music teacher who actually worked with young players. These compositions contain flowing melodies with unique harmonies, easy key signatures and have generated great audience appeal. Counterpoint is also incorporated into many of the compositions. Bow markings are indicated. Enjoy these pieces along with your students and audience. If this composition appeals to you please consider others in this string series by typing VINCENT VITALE in the search bar located on the home page. String Orchestra - SKU: A0.929106 Composed by Bob Mathews. Contemporary. Score and parts. 31 pages. Bob Mathews #3015287. Published by Bob Mathews (A0.929106). Fortunatus meaning fortunate or in this case lucky! This won the TODA (Texas Orchestra Directors' Association) composition contest a few years ago. It was inspired by my grandchildren playing and is dedicated to them. It is a very lively and upbeat song for high school orchestra. Not real demanding but lots of fun to play. Some tricky rhythms. But a nice modern sounding piece for your students and audience to enjoy.

Donuts, if you make a mistake! The initial incarnation of these studies were written for trombone quartet and we would play them in the Tennessee Tech Trombone Choir with the challenge that whomever made the first mistake had to buy donuts for the rest of the ensemble. Since then I have brought that version to several clinics and warm up sessions. One time before I got to explain the title, a fellow trombone professor said, Oh, I get it! Don’t step in the holes!I only wish I had thought of that myself... Since we have one of the best donut shops in TN here in Cookeville, treating the studio to sugar coated goodies was always my intent. As with those initial exercises, you can vary these as much as you’d like.· Choose a tempo.· Choose a dynamic.· Choose an articulation/style.One way I like to play these is to have one person be the model, playing the entire scale over and over while everyone else plays the fragmented versions. That helps everyone to keep on track and stay in time. Double or triple up the parts for ensemble cohesion with a larger group.Practice one key, gradually speeding it up to improve fluidity, or choose a variation and take it through all keys, playing version A, B, C, or D then skipping to play the same set in a new key.If you want an additional challenge, play them in different octaves or change the key. Play the F Major set in f minor (all forms), different modes, etc. Players really have to be on their toes to remember if they are playing melodic minor in the ascending or descending form! For jazz players, try swinging them in dorian or mixolydian modes. The variations are endless! If you are using these with transposing instruments, 1) is F Major in Concert Pitch, 2) is Bb Major in Concert pitch, and so on. When you reach a scale that is enharmonic for another key (Db/C#, Gb/F#, or Cb/B), they are presented in both keys for each instrument so Trumpets can play in Eb while the Flutes are playing in C# with similar examples for all keys. All Donut Etudes with the same volume number are compatible so you can play them in mixed quartets or large ensembles with one or more instruments/people on part 1 and a different instrument on part 2, etc. Since the quartets are all identical, conductors/coaches can use any of the scores to tell which part should be playing at what time. Once you have played a scale with one set of parts, everyone can rotate to a different part and play the same scales again!Enjoy!Combine these with the set for Band when used for Full or Chamber Orchestra.

Parts only (see A879420 for Score). Duration: 18 - 19 min., 5 ensemble parts and 5 solo parts, average 9 pp each. Description: Triptych for String Orchestra sets up three contrasting musical tableaux in as many different genres. Though this approach is often called post-modern, the composer prefers to see it as an indulgence of the many types of music he enjoys. The work opens with a free form improvisatory movement whose sour romanticism comes from its rich chromatic palette. The second movement is in many ways the opposite of the first. It is a very tightly constrained serial work where the parameters of rhythm, inflection, and dynamics, not just pitch, get a full serial workout of permutations. The third and finale movement, then can be seen as a happy medium between the two extremes of the previous movements. It's in the form of an episodic Dionysian romp that alternates between expositions of an ever more shrill theme with puckish episodes of varied quasi-ad lib solos embedded in coloristic texture. There are three movements, Chroma - The Academy - Rock.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - SKU: A0.922634 Composed by Johann Strauss Jr. Arranged by Aaron Meier. Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 1 pages. Aaron Meier #5792359. Published by Aaron Meier (A0.922634). Original by Johann Strauss II Reduction to String Orchestra by Aaron Meier Part: Violin I True to the original work by Strauss, this reduction for string orchestra features the ornaments and mystical writing that defines Strauss' polkas. There are optional percussion parts to be added at the discretion of the ensemble, however even without percussion the ensemble will sound full (the percussion acts as an ornament). Difficulty: Intermediate-advanced - advanced (best-suited for advanced student ensembles) --- Performance Notes: • Approximate length: 3:30 minutes • 1st Violins: In m. 1, trill a half step from a D♠to a D♮ • 2nd Violins:  - At m. 42, divide players by 3, with 2 players playing line A and the remaining player playing line B  - At m. 72-75, emphasize the E♠in the div. • Snare Drum: The buzz roll needs to be quieter than how it is played in the midi recording (*see YouTube link ↓) History: The Olga-Polka itself owed its creation to a Russian royal wedding which took place in St. Petersburg on 28 August 1857. On that day, amid accompanying splendour, the music-loving Grand Duke Michail Nikolaievich (1832-1909), youngest brother of Tsar Alexander II, married Princess Caecilie of Baden (1839-91), daughter of Archduke Leopold of Baden. Johann Strauss, who at that time was giving a summer season of concerts in nearby Pavlovsk, used the opportunity occasioned by the event to enhance his already enviable popularity with the Russian royal family and composed the Caecilien-Polka in honour of the lovely young bride. Indeed, it is clear from a letter which Johann wrote in late July 1857 to Carl Haslinger, his publisher in Vienna, that the new polka had been prepared well in advance of the wedding (the fair copy of the full orchestral score made for the publisher's engraver is dated 9 August) and was enjoying success even before the royal couple's official engagement on 16August 1857. Sometime after performing the Caecilien-Polka in Pavlovsk, Johann despatched the work to the Austrian capital where his brother Josef conducted its Viennese première, together with that of Johann's waltz Telegraphische Depeschen (op. 195, Volume 28), at his own benefit concert in the Volksgartenon Sunday 18 October 1857. The Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (16.10.1857) remarked that both works have caused a sensation in St. Petersburg and are truly genial Viennese sounds full of verve and melody. Since tradition demanded that the German Princess Caecilie adopt a Russian name - Olga Feodorovna - before her marriage, so Johann's Caecilien-Polka also underwent a change of identity. On 8 December 1857 Carl Haslinger announced the publication of Strauss's Olga-Polka, on the title page of which is the inscription: Dedicated to her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Olga, née Princess of Baden. It was under this title, too, that Johann himself first conducted the work in Vienna at a concert in the Volksgarten on 1 November 1857, shortly after his return from Russia. Reporting on this event, the Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (3.11.1857) observed: The 'Olga-Polka' is a most delightful, fragrant musical bouquet, full of fine, gracious rhythms.
