String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799741 Composed by Nikolay Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov. Arranged by Grant Gilman. 20th Century,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 147 pages. Dr. Grant Gilman #3511981. Published by Dr. Grant Gilman (A0.799741). Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade - I. The Sea and Sinbad’s Ship Pick-A-Part Arrangement for String Orchestra by Dr. Grant Gilman String Orchestra Parts in This Pick-A-Part Arrangement Violin 1A Violin 1B Violin 1C Violin 2A Violin 2B Violin 2C Viola A Viola B Viola C Cello A Cello B Cello C Bass A Bass B Bass C Harp/Keyboard (optional)About Pick-A-Part Arrangement This arrangement system employs simultaneous, multi-level difficulty parts for each string section. The goal is to accommodate all levels of playing in the preparation and performance of a symphonic masterwork. In this arrangement, there are 3 difficulty levels for each individual string section, labeled A, B, and C, respectively. Each level is a decreasing level of technical and musical difficulty, level A being the highest level of difficulty. The A level is close to, if not exactly the same as, the original string part, plus the integration of wind parts when applicable. B and C follow in a proportional reduction of difficulty level. For this solution to be most effective, some students should be encouraged to play the most challenging parts simultaneously with those playing the simpler parts. This presents the opportunity to participate in a performance that includes most of the original material. The B and C parts cover enough of the surface material while maintaining a modicum of independence from the A part. In other words, the B and C parts are able to hold their own in performance without the A parts. For example, let’s say you have a couple of talented violinists and a few more that are well below their playing level, only two violists that need a great deal of help, a plethora of cellists with a wide range of abilities, and one single bass player that is a beginner. Your distribution of parts may look something like this: Violin 1 - two on Violin 1A, one on Violin 1C, and the rest on Violin 1B Violin 2 - one on Violin 2B, the rest on Violin 2C Viola - both on Viola C Cello - three on Cello A, one on Cello B, and the rest on Cello C Bass - one on Bass C This potential setup will challenge each player at their current level of development while creating the context for a moving experience with a major orchestral work. A Note about the Score and Printing The full score is designed to be printed in portrait orientation on 17x11 tabloid size paper. Even at this size, the score can be confusing to read, especially if you are not covering every difficulty level part. If you would like a custom score showing only the parts you are using, please email me: conductor@grantgilman.com. I will be happy to work with you!www.grantgilman.comwww.americanmusepodcast.com

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.904425 Composed by John Sarno. Arranged by jtsarno publishing. Christmas. Score and parts. 42 pages. John T Sarno #6459713. Published by John T Sarno (A0.904425). This is a fun piece for an intermediate-level string orchestra. It is the second arrangement of mine that is a mash-up of traditional Christmas carols. This one includes, Up on the House Top, The 12 Days of Christmas, Here We Come a Wassailing, I Saw Three Ships A Sailing, Bring a Torch Jeanette Isabelle, The Holly, and the Ivy, Toyland, O Tannenbaum. All through the piece, different string sections play different melodies at the same time. While it is mostly a pizzicato piece there are some bowing sections. It also gives the player a challenge to play pizzicato while holding the bow in certain sections. This is a great piece for your Winter Concert. Approx 6 minutes long.

I hope that this collection of tunes will bring more joy and more of the Magic of Irish Music closer to musicians of all ages. Itncluded in this book are the following tunes: Dawning of the Day, Road to Lisdoonvarna, Swallow Tail, Britches full of Stitches and Cuil Adhoa, After the Battle of Aughrim, Star of the County Down, Fig for a Kiss, The Butterfly,Banish Misfortune,Cook in the Kitchen, Planxty Irwin, Tommy Cohen’s, The Banshee,Slane, New Rigged Ship. The tunes in this book are very well known traditional Irish tunes, good at any Irish session! There is a link to the first tune of the book to give you an idea of what the music sounds like. The tunes in this book are very well known traditional Irish tunes, good at any Irish session! I chose these particular tunes first because they are good tunes, but also because they are accessible to the Cello, and in the same key as the Fiddle.. They make a very good supplemental resource for growing fiddlers, fun to play, and can be used with the Cello book of the same name. Please enjoy these great tunes! Included here is a youtube link to a playlist of these tunes, playedin their entirety by cello and fiddle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ON1BBAfVj4&list=PL1QxSodsD2nFp1WDIsjWGargdnp2_fxQt.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1219564 Composed by Nick Raspa. Contemporary. Score and Parts. 160 pages. NJR Music #815925. Published by NJR Music (A0.1219564). This is a string orchestra adaptation of the full orchestral version I wrote in 2007. Â (Listen to the complete recording of this string orchestra adaptation by clicking the YouTube link.)When I began Ocean Voyage, I was thinking about how my father and my grandparents left their families and the comfort of familiar surroundings in Italy and immigrated to America for a new life during the early part of the 20th Century.Just as there is an element of danger in taking a trip across the ocean, there is the excitement of the voyage and the promise of a new experience in a place you have never been before. Â The trip itself is an adventure since you will spend several days aboard the ship, and in days that have long since faded from the calendar, these trips took weeks and even months. This piece attempts to capture the spirit of the adventure and excitement of such a trip. The piece starts with the sounding of the horn as the ship embarks. Â This leads to a beautiful lyrical section and later there is a spritely gigue. Â Through these various sections I attempted to capture the various moods of the passengers during various stages of this long, exciting journey. Â ASCAP.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.750794 Composed by Traditional Australian Folksongs. Arranged by Brendan Elliget MAGA 537. Folk. Score and parts. 33 pages. BJE Music #3602315. Published by BJE Music (A0.750794). Australian Folksong Medley No. 6 – String Group with Optional Percussion - Suitable for a school or community group. This Medley includes:1. The Dying Stockman (3/4 Waltz Tempo): Wrap me up with my stockwhip and blanket And bury me deep down below. Where the dingoes and crows can't molest me In the shade where the Coolibahs grow.2. Jim Jones of Botany Bay (6/8 Adagio in 6) is a traditional Australian folk ballad. The narrator, Jim Jones, is arrested, tried, and sentenced to transportation. En route, his ship is attacked by pirates, but the crew holds them off. Arriving in Australia, Jones vows to escape, join the bushrangers, and get revenge.3. The Drovers Dream (6/8 Brightly in 2)One night when traveling sheep, my companions lay asleep There was not a star illuminate the sky. I was dreaming I suppose, for my eyes were partly closed. When a very strange procession passed me by. First there came a kangaroo with a swag of blankets blue. And the dingo ran beside him as his mate. They were traveling mighty fast but they shouted as they passed. We'll have to jog along, it's getting late. This arrangement is for String Orchestra with plenty of interest for all sections. There is a Violin 3 part which is a substitute for the Viola Part. There are also versions for Full Orchestra, Concert Band and Brass Band at this website. The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer 3.Grade = 3 Duration = 5:30 mins.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1183534 Composed by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de St. Georges. Arranged by Robert Debbaut. Classical,Contest,Festival,Historic,Multicultural,World. 28 pages. ROBERT DEBBAUT #783207. Published by ROBERT DEBBAUT (A0.1183534). How is it that one can be born a slave in French colonial Guadeloupe and rise to be among Paris’ musical giants, to become a colonel in the French Army as well as the frequent dinner guest of princes and potentates? The story of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, is surely an interesting one, even the stuff of which movies are made.Joseph Bologne’s father, Georges Bologne de Saint-Georges was a French planter. Saint-Georges was the name of his plantation. He impregnated Anne, the Senegalese slave of his wife, who bore him a son in 1745. Uncharacteristic of many of these sort of relationships he acknowledged the child was his and gave him his family name. When he was seven Bologne’s father took him to Paris for his education, enrolling him in a boarding school. Two years later he and the child’s mother returned to France and set up housekeeping as a family in Paris’ Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. At age thirteen Joseph’s father enrolled him in the Royal Technical Academy of Fencing and Swordsmanship. He quickly became the finest swordsman in the academy, perhaps in all of Paris. Upon graduation he was made an Officer of the King’s Bodyguard and a chevalier (an honorary knighthood). He went on to serve tours of duty in the French Army during the Seven Years War (1756-1763) and later after the French Revolution, where he was Colonel and commander of an all-Black regiment of the Revolutionary Army. All this in spite of the fact that French law forbade him, a man of African heritage, to become a citizen, to retain his father’s royal title of “Gentleman of the King’s Chamber,†or to marry outside his class. There is limited information about Bologne’s musical training, but he was obviously so well-skilled that Italian violinist-composer Antonio Lolli (1725-1802) wrote two violin concertos for him and French composer François-Joseph Gossec (1734-1829) dedicated his set of String Trios, Op. 9 to Bologne. Lolli may have worked with him on violin technique and Gossec composition, but this may be apocryphal. Bologne played in Gossec’s orchestra, and was later both leader and conductor of the group. As a composer Joseph Bologne was quite prolific, composing six operas, fourteen violin concertos, four symphonies concertantes, and numerous chamber works and songs. His Six String Quartets, Op. 1, Nos. 1-6 date from 1770-1771 and were published by the Paris publishing house of Jean-Georges Sieber (1738-1822) in 1773 (There are a total of 18 quartets: Six Quartets “au goût du jour†[up-to-date] from 1779 and the Opus 14 set of six which date from 1785). The Opus 1 quartets are dedicated to Anne Louis Alexandre de Montmorency (1724-1812), 7th Prince of Robeck (Robecq) and Grand Duke of Spain. The Opus 1 quartets all display a similarity to the Italian opera overtures from earlier in the Eighteenth Century (often called “sinfoniaâ€) in that they have an overall “A-B-A†form with the ‘A’ sections being robust allegros and all ‘B’ sections marked “rondo.†As such, in arranging them for string orchestra it seemed quite natural to rename them “overtures.†Certain liberties were taken by the arranger in order to maintain the integrity of the classic Rondo formula. All six have been arranged in this manner for string orchestra. They vary in length from twelve to almost twenty minutes. If you wish to obtain parts, write to debbaut@gmail.com and pay $42 via venmo or $40 via personal check and they will be sent to you in pdf format.

String Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.942953 Composed by Geoffrey Peterson. Contemporary. Score and parts. 43 pages. Geoffrey Peterson #4267231. Published by Geoffrey Peterson (A0.942953). Link to complete recording: https://soundcloud.com/geoffrey-peterson/sets/the-edmund-fitzgerald-concerto On November 9th, 1975, the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald left port in Superior, Wisconsin. The 729-foot-long iron ore carrier, loaded with 26 thousand tons of taconite pellets for the auto industry, was bound for Detroit. Earlier that day, the weather service had issued a gale warning. This was not unusual, considering that gale storms are typical during November on Lake Superior. The Fitzgerald’s Captain, Ernest McSorley, and her 29-member crew headed northeast unaware of the maelstrom they would soon encounter. At around 2 a.m., Bernie Cooper, captain of the Arthur M. Andersen, another freighter which was following a few miles behind the Fitzgerald, radioed Captain McSorley to consult with him about the worsening storm. They had both decided to take a more northerly route along the Canadian shore, which they hoped would provide some shelter from the violent gale winds and waves. The Fitzgerald’s long-range radar stopped working the following day and was needed in order to avoid Six-Fathom Shoal, a shallow area of Lake Superior that could rupture the ship’s hull. McSorley soon radioed the Anderson to report that the Fitzgerald had sustained some topside damage...a fence rail down, two vents lost or damaged, and a starboard list. A list meant that the Fitzgerald was taking on too much water and was causing it to lean to one side. The short-range radar also stopped working, and the radio direction beacon from nearby Whitefish Point vanished. This would make it impossible for the Fitzgerald to reach the lee waters of Whitefish Bay and escape the 80 mph winds churning 20 to 30-foot waves. At 7:10 p.m. that night, First Mate Morgan Clark of the Andersen radioed the Fitzgerald to see how they were doing. Captain McSorley replied, We’re holding our own. This was the last contact anyone would have with the Fitzgerald. Shortly thereafter, the Edmund Fitzgerald disappeared from the Anderson’s radar screen. All 29 of her crew were lost on November 10th, 1975. The Edmund Fitzgerald chronicles the tragic final voyage of the well-known shipwreck in 4 movements; Embarkment, The Gales, Six-Fathom Shoal (We’re holding our own.) and Entombment-Dirge. The concerto makes use of several musical quotes. The first is Spanish Ladies, an English sea chantey, which appears in both the 1st and 3rd movements. The second is the funeral march theme from the 2nd movement of Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony which is heard in the 4th movement of the concerto. In addition, a chime is rung 29 times during the final bars of the concerto to memorialize the men who lost their lives. The Crew of the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald: Michael E. Armagost, Frederick J. Beetcher, Thomas D. Bentsen, Edward F. Bindon, Thomas D. Borgeson, Oliver J. Champeau, Nolan S. Church, Ransom E. Cundy, Thomas E. Edwards, Russell G. Haskell, George J. Holl, Bruce L. Sherry Lewis Publishing #6570173. Published by Sherry Lewis Publishing (A0.521896). RHOSYMEDRE - Original Hymn and Variations This is created from original theme written approx. 1840 and two variations by the arranger. String Orchestra, Intermediate Level for 2 violins, viola, cello, string bass Score: Yes Parts: 5 pages Time: 2'35 MY QUARTET VERSIONS, in short notice work fine for solo, two parts and three parts however I also offer individual versions for one, two and three parts that are more detailed for these ensembles. Please visit https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=sherry+lewis+publishing for all of the titles I offer. If you can’t find a title then contact me through www.baysbest.com/smp-arrangeme/ and I’ll give you the link back to Sheet Music Plus’s listing. VERSATILE Titles that include four parts are written with the idea that they can be performed with 1, 2, 3 or 4 musicians. Most of the contemporary/popular titles include a chord chart for a bass instrument. PRACTICE needs would vary according to the level of the performers but my goal is to be sight-readable for most performers and groups. AUDIO SAMPLE The 30 second mp3 is frequently shortened and may not start at the introduction to get to the reprise. The actual introduction will be in the sheet music. LISTENABILITY I have performed thousands of weddings and special events. I make it a goal for the music to carry as well as possible through loud and large space situations. ARRANGEMENTS usually follow the original version. There is an mp3 where you can hear 30 seconds and get a feeling of the originality of the work. EXCELLENT for corporate events, weddings, social gatherings and recitals. APPROPRIATE for students and schools. CHURCH REPERTOIRE I’m always adding more titles. Sherry Lewis is a professional arranger and musician residing in Northern California. Thank you for your purchase!

Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score and Parts. 9 pages. Ron Flintjer #851619. Published by Ron Flintjer (A0.1258367). The Hymn of Joy (often called Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee) is a poem written by Henry van Dyke in 1907 with the intention of musically setting it to the famous Ode to Joy melody of the final movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's final symphony, Symphony No. 9.This is a perfect piece to be performed by your church string orchestra. To accommodate lack of instrumentation, if that should be, there is 1st violin, 2nd violins and violas are doubled, as are the cello and string bass. Even though composed for beginner easy level, this has a full orchestra sound, interesting harmonies and a beautiful sacred touch.tt.

String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.759567 Composed by Hoffstetter attr. Haydn. Arranged by Mark Lansom. Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Praise & Worship,Wedding. Score and parts. 8 pages. Mark Lansom #4335003. Published by Mark Lansom (A0.759567). Haydn's (though most probably Hoffstetter's) famous Serenade, in a sound-alike arrangement. Middle parts are slightly redistributed for ease in the third violin part, which is the same as the viola part and can be omitted. Cello and bass parts are alike, so it can also be played by string quartet. There is some careful editing, including indications as to whether the grace notes should be on or before the beat. Written with school groups in mind that might have a few good violins to play the melody. It's tiring for young players to play so much pizzicato, but with one violin part made easier takes much less rehearsal time! However it can be enjoyed by string players of all ages. Score and parts included.

Kirsty Hugill #3042157. Published by Kirsty Hugill (A0.940207). I have arranged this traditional Christmas carol for beginner to early intermediate string orchestra. It works well for children in schools, Christmas church services and concerts. It is also appropriate to adult amateur groups. There parts range from beginners using on 1 finger up to the melody line for more intermediate players. If you have more advanced players the main melody works well up the octave. If you have a limited range of players this arrangement will also work using one melody line and any of the accompanying parts. For the cello/bass line bass players will read the upper notes when 2 notes are shown.
