Richard Galliano is a French accordionist of Italian heritage. After a long and intense period of study, at 14, in a search to expand his ideas on the accordion, he began listening to jazz and heard records by the trumpet player Clifford Brown. The second decisive meeting took place in 1980, with the Argentinean composer and bandoneonist Astor Piazzolla.
Astor strongly encouraged Richard to create the French ?New Musette?, as he himself had previously invented the Argentinean ?New Tango?.
Some later collaboration include Chet Baker, Eddy Louiss, Ron Carter, Wynton Marsalis, Charlie Haden,
Gary Burton, Michel Portal, Toots Thielemans and Kurt Elling.
This arrangement for Cello with piano of one of his most famous and performed pieces (with clear rhythmic references to the Piazzolla's "Libertango") is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.

Suitable for recitals, church meditations, or school programs. School Years First of all, Sullivan attended music school at the Royal Academy of Music. Because Sullivan was so talented, the Academy awarded him the Mendelssohn Scholarship for two years in a row. He, therefore, studied with John Goss, who studied with Thomas Atwood, who in turn studied with Mozart. Sullivan similarly studied the piano at the Academy with Arthur O’Leary. Study Abroad During his first year, he also earned money by singing solos in the Chapel Royal. At the end of his second year, the Academy consequently continued his scholarship and sent him to study at the Leipzig Conservatoire. He certainly studied composition, and likewise counterpoint and piano. Hence, during his final year in Leipzig, Sullivan finally completed his graduation composition project: Incidental Music for Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Association with Gilbert It seems like Sullivan built the bulk of his composing career largely in the 1860s. As a result, he became famous for his incidental music for the Tempest and his Irish Symphony. He, therefore, began collaborating with the poet W. S. Gilbert in the 1870s. Rather than focus on serious opera, Gilbert and Sullivan, in contrast, concentrated on comic operas such as H. M. S. Pinafore, the Pirates of Penzance, and the Mikado. Therefore, certainly as a result of his education and experience, Sullivan composed a total of 24 operas, 11 symphonic works, and 10 choral pieces. Even more, he wrote a large number of noteworthy hymns such as Onward Christian Soldiers. Lost Chord The general style of his music is maybe similar to Mendelssohn, Schumann, and perhaps Liszt. It seems like Sullivan was fond of writing distinct melodies for each character in his operettas. His melodies combine together as the characters did. Furthermore, he was a master orchestrator, and therefore played the flute, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone fluently. The Lost Chord Sullivan wrote his most noteworthy song the Lost Chord in 1877. As a result, it was a great success and was certainly performed all over the world by a variety of singers such as Enrico Caruso. Because Sullivan was the most famous composer in England, the Lost Chord became the most famous of all British or American songs of the 1870s and 1890s. Consequently, in 1888 Thomas Edison recorded The Lost Chord for the phonograph. It was one of the first songs ever recorded. Furthermore, Queen Victoria knighted Sullivan in 1883.  Â

In fact, Chopin himself believed the melody of the piece to be the most beautiful one he ever composed. It became famous through numerous popular arrangements. Although this étude is sometimes identified by the names Tristesse (Sadness) or Farewell (L'Adieu), neither is a name given by Chopin, but rather his critics. This arrangement for cello with piano accompaniment reflects faithfully the original and is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.

The piece was arranged for numerous instrumentations, with the arrangement for cello being among the most popular. The miniature exudes an oriental charm, both melodically and rhythmically, and is a popular encore, not least due to its shortness. Estelle Revaz, an experienced concert cellist and teacher, edited the work, adding tips for modern cello lessons which make the first steps into cello playing easier and provide suggestions for the student's own interpretation. The edition is part of the Schott Student Edition series which offers varied literature at five different levels of difficulty (from 1-easy to 5-difficult) for instrumental lessons. Practical tips by teachers help to master the pieces and make the editions valuable additions to modern music lessons. In this Level 2.5 - 3.0 (Intermediate) arrangement, Martin Lass has arranged the hit song, What Else Can I Do?, for solo cello and piano accompaniment. Guitar chords and chord boxes are included. What Else Can I Do? is a song from Disney's 2021 animated feature film, Encanto, with music and lyrics written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It was released by Walt Disney Records as part of the film's soundtrack in November, 2021. The soundtrack has achieved many accolades and charted No. 1 or Top Ten across the world, including No. 1 on US Billboard Hot 100. Wikipedia notes that, to develop the soundtrack, the composer, Miranda, and team visited Colombia—the setting of Encanto—to study the country's music. Consequentially, the album is rooted in genres such as vallenato, cumbia, bambuco and rock en español, making use of the traditional music instruments of Colombia, and incorporates salsa, tango, reggaeton and bachata styles alongside pop, hip hop, folk and musical theatre elements. In the film, the songs are performed by the Madrigals, who are a multigenerational family with magical powers granted to them by a miracle; the lyrical themes revolve around individuality, self-worth, transgenerational trauma and familial love. This arrangement has been specifically tailored for intermediate-level cello while retaining all of the original elements of the song, as well as some original interpretative elements. The lead line combines some of the different voices in the original song. The key has been changed from the original A minor/C major to the more violin-friendly F minor/Ab major, which changes the modulation halfway through the song from the very challenging Bb minor/Db major to the more friendly F# minor/A major.
