Piano Accompaniment, Dan CutchenTime: approximately 6:00And Can It Be That I Should Gain? is a Christian hymn written by Charles Wesley. And Can It Be was written in 1738 to celebrate Wesley's conversion, which he regarded as having taken place on May 21 of that year. This beautiful hymn has been popular and enduring. And Can It Be That I Should Gain is perhaps one of the most joyfully poignant hymns penned by Charles Wesley (1707-1788). On Whitsunday (Pentecost), May 21, 1738, three days before his brother John experienced his heart strangely warmed,’ Charles was convalescing in the home of John Bray, a poor mechanic, when he heard a voice saying, In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, arise, and believe, and thou shalt be healed of all thy infirmities. The voice was most likely Mr. Bray’s sister who felt commanded to say these words in a dream.Anglican hymn writer Timothy Dudley-Smith, notes that the following then happened:Charles got out of bed and opening his Bible read from the Psalms: He have put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God, followed by the first verse of Isaiah 40, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. He wrote in his journal, I have found myself at peace with God, and rejoiced in the hope of love Christ (Dudley-Smith, 1987, 1).The statement from Mr. Bray’s sister sparked within Charles a conviction like he had never felt before. Moved and convicted in spirit, Charles wrestled with these words until he came to rest in his faith, knowing that it is by faith we are saved (Ephesians 2:8).Soon after this conversion experience, he wrote two hymns in celebration of the amazing love he had come to know: And Can It Be that I Should Gain and Where Shall My Wondering Soul Begin? (United Methodist Hymnal, 342)There has been some debate as to which hymn was written first, but most current scholarship accepts the latter as the first hymn written by Charles after his conversion experience. No matter its place in the chronology of Wesley's output, And Can It Be has been and remains one of his most remarkable hymns, expressing like no other the rapturous joy of receiving salvation. And Can It Be That I Should Gain. Cello and piano - intermediate - SKU: S9.Q15267 From the Idyll At Twilight. Composed by Zdenek Fibich. Arranged by Wolfgang Birtel. This edition: Sheet music. Edition Schott - Single Edition. Downloadable. Op. 39. Schott Music - Digital #Q15267. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q15267). The reputation of the Bohemian composer Zdenek Fibich (1850-1900) has always been somewhat overshadowed by that of Bedrich Smetana and AntonÃn Dvorák. This is a pity, for Fibich, though he died young, made an equally important contribution to the emerging Czech national styl with his wide range of compositions. After starting piano lessons with his mother as his first teacher, the boy went on to music school in Prague and then to the Leipzig Conservatoire, where he learned his craft as a composer. He spent a few months teaching piano in Paris and then continued his studies with Vinzenz Lachner in Mannheim. Prague was eventually to become the centre for Fibich's musical activities: as his dream of a post at the Conservatoire remained unfulfilled, his main employment was giving private music lessons and as a composer Zdenek Fibich wrote works for many musical genres: vocal and chamber music, piano pieces and orchestral works, operas, stage music and melodramas, literary recitals with orchestral accompaniment to which he gave a new lease of life. There are biographical traces to be found in the 376 piano pieces of the collection 'Moods, Impressions and Reminiscences' Op. 41, written in 1892-98: this tells of his love for his pupil Anezka Schulzová in the form of a 'piano diary'. Its four volumes were frequently a source of material for other works, such as the symphonic poem 'In the Evening' Op. 39 (also known as 'A Summer's Evening' and 'At Twilight'), written in 1893. For his second subject in this 'Idyll' Fibich used the minature no. 139, entitled 'Lento', from his collection of piano pieces. The violinst Jan KubelÃk played the melody from 1908 onwards with the title 'Poème', and the work is still known today under this title: its easy charm has made it a favourite tune in the classical repertoire. This arrangement is based on the orchestral version from which other material was adapted for the Prelude.

Cello and piano - advanced - SKU: S9.Q6880 Morceau de concert. Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. This edition: Sheet music. Cello Library. Downloadable. Op. 62. Schott Music - Digital #Q6880. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6880). Key: B minor.Apart from the famous Rococo Variations, Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky composed another work for solo violoncello: Pezzo capriccioso, Opus 62. It is dedicated to Brandoukoff (Brandukov) with whom he had performed this little virtuoso piece for the first time at the famous salon of the Benardaky family in February 1888. The soloist himself suggested a few minor changes in the solo part. Even Maurice Gendron, the great cello virtuoso and teacher, attended to the work once again, not only 'bedighting' the solo part in a virtuoso manner but also adding a cadenza, an extended recapitulation and a lengthened ending to the Pezzo. The present edition enables the performer to get an accurate picture of the different versions and layers. The fingerings, bowing indications and interpretational aids - except for in the added parts - are by Maurice Gendron.

Altoflute, horn, viola d'amore, cello and piano - difficult - SKU: S9.Q46677 Composed by Volker David Kirchner. This edition: score and parts. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 12 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q46677. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q46677). In 1983, my friend and colleague Arnt Martin made me read and listen to a most interesting piece of music for soprano, viola d'amore and strings, this work called my attention to the viola d'amore. In the following year, I became more and more absorbed in the possibilities this instrument offers and in 1985 decided to write a morceau d'ensemble including a viola d'amore. Thus birth was given to Mysterion, a composition for which these five musicians seem tailormade. As to content, Mysterion represents a reflection on death. Passing through various stages, the music describes a path up to the mysteries of Redemption. Volker David Kirchner.

Après un rêve (Op. 7, No. 1) for cello and piano (as played by Yo Yo Ma and Kathryn StottTrois mélodies is a set of mélodies for solo voice and piano, by Gabriel Fauré. It consists of Après un rêve (Op. 7, No. 1), one of Faure's most popular vocal pieces, Hymne (Op. 7, No. 2), and Barcarolle (Op. 7, No. 3). The songs were written between 1870 and 1877, and published in 1878. They were not, however, originally conceived together as a set of three; the opus number 7 was imposed on them retrospectively in the 1890s, almost 20 years after their first publications.[citation needed]Après un rêveIn Après un rêve (After a dream), a dream of romantic flight with a lover, away from the earth and towards the light, is described. However, upon awakening, the dreamer longs to return to the mysterious night and the ecstatic falsehood of his dream. Jmsgu3 #984713. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1401530). The historical context of Scriabin's Prelude, Op. 51 No. 2 is rooted in the broader tradition of preludes as improvisatory pieces that precede performances on keyboard instruments. Scriabin's composition, part of his Quatre Morceaux (Four Pieces) Op. 51, published in 1906, reflects his innovative approach to piano music within the musical landscape of the early 20th century. This piece, along with others by Scriabin, demonstrates a blend of traditional influences and his quest to develop a distinctive and original style in his compositions. The meaning behind Scriabin's Prelude, Op. 51 No. 2 is characterized by its emotional depth and expressive qualities, reflecting the composer's unique musical language and style. This piece, along with others by Scriabin, delves into themes of fatigue, exhaustion, eternity, and millions of years, as described by the composer. In this prelude, Scriabin's use of dissonance, tonal centers, and harmonic language conveys a sense of obsessively seeking out pain or grief. The composition captures a range of emotions, from fatigue to a cry in the night, showcasing Scriabin's ability to evoke intense feelings through his music.

"No Time to Die" is a song by American singer Billie Eilish. It is the theme song of the 2020 James Bond film of the same name, and was released through Darkroom and Interscope Records on February 13, 2020. The song was written by Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell, and recorded in a bedroom studio. At age 18, Eilish is the youngest artist in history to write and record a James Bond theme song.
"No Time to Die" debuted atop the Irish Singles Chart and the UK Singles Chart. It became Eilish's first number one single in the UK and made her the first artist born in the 21st century to top the chart. Furthermore, the song became the first James Bond theme by a female artist to top the UK chart, as well as only the second Bond theme ever to top that chart.
This 'cello arrangement is of an early intermediate level, in the key of G minor and going no higher than F4, but containing some tricky semiquaver rhythms. The piano part is also fairly straightforward. Both the 'cello part and piano accompaniment are included. About 4 minutes in length and great for your next James Bond themed performance!

Cello,Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1475808 Composed by Frederic Chopin. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. 19th Century,Chamber,Historic,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 7 pages. Jmsgu3 #1053366. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1475808). Chopin's Prelude in B minor, Op. 28 No. 6, is significant for its sad and expressive nature, often described as reflecting pure sadness and depression. This Prelude is renowned for its cello-like left-hand melody, evoking the rich tones of a cello and creating a somber atmosphere. The piece is known for its duality of voices, with the right hand providing an echo effect that should be skillfully managed to avoid monotony. George Sand described this prelude as plunging the soul into frightful depression, emphasizing its emotional depth. Notably, this Prelude was played at Chopin's funeral, adding to its historical and emotional significance. The left hand in this prelude carries the melody, resembling the full tones of a cello, while the right-hand plays an accompaniment with repeated upper notes that are integral to the piece. Overall, Chopin's Prelude in B minor, Op. 28 No. 6, stands out for its emotional depth, melancholy melody, and unique cello-like qualities.
