A Change in Me from Beauty and the Beast is part of a series of Disney piano solo arrangements for late beginner / grade 1.  Everyone can benefit by learning pieces they recognise, but in the early stages of learning, this can sometimes prove to be a challenge too far.  If the piece is too far outside the ability level of the student, frustration and self-doubt can creep in.The arrangements in this series concentrate on building connections between how the music looks, how it feels, and what it sounds like. To simplify learning, the arrangements are notated at half speed (where needed), do not require any use of sharps or flats, and are harmonised using a 5 - note hand position in the left hand.Short introductions have been added to highlight the hand position changes used in the song.  These give students the opportunity to build their confidence by navigating the changes of hand positions before encountering them in the recognisable part of the song.Catherine lives in a small rural village in Shropshire, England and has over 25 years experience teaching piano. Each page contains a 2-voice arrangement of the first 8 measures of the piece in a different key. This unit demonstrates how easily one can play in any key, when the music is notated on a key map tablature.This piece is notated on a vertically oriented tablature called a key map. Key maps are intended to SHOW you (visually) which keys to play by matching (mapping) the locations of the keys on the keyboard. >>> The group of 12 keys from Middle C up to B form what we call the green Octave Group. (There are 7 of these identical groups on the piano distinguished by their colors and locations.) The key map staff is based on an octave group of the keyboard. For each key map octave group, the 5 vertical lines of the staff stand for the 5 matching black KEYS. >>> Staff lines ARE SPACED to match the horizontal spacing of the black keys on the keyboard The notes for black keys are placed ON these staff lines. The notes for the white keys are placed BETWEEN the lines. >>> The notes of a key map move to the left and right to indicate change in PITCH and down the page to indicate the passing of TIME (rhythm). The vertical length of each note is proportional to the time (in beats) that the sound requires.

Tips and tricks for learning this song: 1-The left hand has two slightly different patterns (see measures 1-4 and 9-12). If you learn the left hand patterns first, it will help you throughout the song. (If you have a hard time noticing the patterns change while you're playing, you can try using two different colored highlighters to mark each section.)2- Helpful finger numbers are written in the music, especially when you need to cross your thumb over or stretch your fingers. Repeats of the same patterns don't have the finger numbers written in, so if you need to, you can go back to the first time that pattern showed up to double check the fingering.3- At the end, the left hand patterns speed up. They are the same notes from the beginning, just played as half notes or quarter notes instead of whole notes. If this section is too difficult for you, no worries! You can always play whole notes again instead.4- Adding the pedal really takes this arrangement up a step! If you want to do that, just remember to clear the pedal (lift and lower your foot again) each time the left hand chords change.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman from Frozen is part of a series of Disney piano solo arrangements for late beginner / grade 1.  Everyone can benefit by learning pieces they recognise, but in the early stages of learning, this can sometimes prove to be a challenge too far.  If the piece is too far outside the ability level of the student, frustration and self-doubt can creep in.The arrangements in this series concentrate on building connections between how the music looks, how it feels, and what it sounds like. To simplify learning, the arrangements are notated at half speed (where needed), do not require any use of sharps or flats, and are harmonised using a 5 - note hand position in the left hand.Short introductions have been added to highlight the hand position changes used in the song.  These give students the opportunity to build their confidence by navigating the changes of hand positions before encountering them in the recognisable part of the song.Catherine lives in a small rural village in Shropshire, England and has over 25 years experience teaching piano. An original and completely NEW piece for the piano, never before published. 2mins approx in length. Great for showmanship.This is a semi-classical and dynamically mildly challenging piece that can be played to entertain, as an interlude or prelude or for an impromptu performance. It’s also useful as a piece to test the range and performance of an unfamiliar piano. Could be used for music study, sight-reading or for a grade piece (if selected).It starts in the scale of D harmonic minor harmonic then surprises with a switch to D major and teases with a potential modulation to A major that never quite happens as the G sharp is stubbornly avoided. The piece uses virtually the whole span of the keyboard and so shows off some flying hands (and a couple of cross hands for good measure). The pedal is used for good effect though this should become intuitive.The piece has some time signature changes that are involved in the effect of the piece and there is some subtle syncopation linked into that. The tempo starts on Andante but gradually increases in pace finishing on Allegro in the coda that contains a couple of sets of flourishing semi-quavers that can be made to mimic demi semis depending on the actual tempo adopted.Being a very expressive piece, there is scope to vary the dynamics and tempo to explore expressive possibilities.The piece was first performed in public to pilgrims whilst on a Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage in 2013 before it was put into manuscript.

VERSE is a G pentascale melody; CHORUS is G pentatonic stretching across a 10th, so hand movement is required (happens twice).  LH plays 2-3 note 7th chords and sometimes has a held whole note with two moving notes. Rhythm is primarily 8th notes and quarter notes…most of the 16th syncopated/straight rhythm & 16th notes have been eliminated.  Late intermediate players will appreciate the development in the second verse/chorus. The LH pattern changes to moving 8th notes in a Jim Brickman/Chopin-esque pattern regularly using 9ths & 10ths. LH drops down an octave for the final chorus. RH adds occasional alto note to the chorus melody line.Â

In times of climate change, an increasing divide between the rich and poor, and the squandering of precious resources I wanted to write something to remind us of the beauty and fragility of life on this awesome planet where we are privileged to live.The piece is a simple waltz in 3/4 time. The initial melody is repeated in two variations, then repeated again followed by the 2nd variation.When you play it, please think of our planet and how we must do everything we can to protect and cherish all of the life on it.
