Easy Piano - Level 1 - SKU: A0.984681 Composed by John M. Honeycutt. Instructional. Score. 16 pages. Music Innovators Workshop #4355273. Published by Music Innovators Workshop (A0.984681). May 9, 2019 - This article describes the origin of the key maps notation and provides a moderately detailed look at how it works. It is not about how to play the piano. Rather, it is about how to read and play from pieces notated as key maps. We have over a thousand pages of music notated with key maps that we are placing on this site. This article is the go-to place to find out more about key maps, and how to read this incredible notation. As we place more pieces on this site, we will be referring those who are interested in these pieces to this article. We will also be placing our instructional materials on how to play the piano on the site as soon as time permits. Let is be said that one can learn to play from key maps in a fraction of the time that it takes to learn to play from traditional notation - and with a whole lot less stress and frustration. The key maps have been under development for over 20 years. They have been honed and revised extensively based on teaching experiences with several hundred students that have learned to play the piano using these learning materials. 16 pages .

Easy Piano - Level 1 - SKU: A0.984772 Composed by John M. Honeycutt. Instructional,Standards. Score. 36 pages. Music Innovators Workshop #4764243. Published by Music Innovators Workshop (A0.984772). This article begins by covering some of the same ground covered in article KMA-05, emphasizing the role of the incredible design of the keyboard. The present article then goes on to compare the key maps with the grand staff, demonstrating how much easier the key maps are to learn and read. It provides comparisons of how the 12 key positions on the key maps replace the 88 key positions of the grand staff. Key maps have notes for black keys, but the grand staff has no notes dedicated to the black keys. The grand staff uses an incredibly complex series of #, b, ##, and bb codes to modify the natural notes before they can identify which keys to play. Profusely illustrated in full color.

Easy Piano - Level 2 - SKU: A0.984687 Composed by Allen. Arranged by John M. Honeycutt. Children,Jazz,Romantic Period,Traditional. Score. 8 pages. Music Innovators Workshop #4356241. Published by Music Innovators Workshop (A0.984687). This famous piece is arranged in two versions for piano - early intermediate and intermediate. The arrangements are notated as key map tablatures - which are very easy to learn and read. Standard chord symbols are included.Key maps are intended to SHOW you (visually) which keys to play by matching (mapping) the locations of the keys on the keyboard. >>> The group of 12 keys from Middle C up to B form what we call the green Octave Group (There are 7 of these identical groups on the piano distinguished by their colors and locations.) The key map staff is based on an octave group of the keyboard. For each key map octave group, the 5 vertical lines of the staff stand for the 5 matching black KEYS. >>> Staff lines ARE SPACED to match the horizontal spacing of the black keys on the keyboard The notes for black keys are placed ON these staff lines. The notes for the white keys are placed BETWEEN the lines. >>> The notes of a key map move to the left and right to indicate change in PITCH and down the page to indicate the passing of TIME (rhythm). The vertical length of each note is proportional to the time (in beats) that the sound requires. If you want to know more about this beautiful key map notation, you might consider reviewing our article describing how this notation works, entitled: Getting Started With Key Maps for the Piano. It contains an explanation of how key maps work and includes a number of examples. 16 pages. It is promotionally priced at only $1.99. Easy Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.984698 Composed by Various. Arranged by John M. Honeycutt. Baroque,Classical,Romantic Period. Score. 10 pages. Music Innovators Workshop #4356973. Published by Music Innovators Workshop (A0.984698). These are easy to play themes from 7 great symphonic works. The themes are placed on key map tablatures that notate the melodies and chords, and provide standard chord symbols as well. Series 5FC - To make fingering of melodies easy to follow, each 5-finger group begins with a finger number and colored notes. Then successive fingered groups are identified with contrasting colored notes. Notes not belonging in a 5-fingered group are white. This piece is notated on a vertically oriented tablature called a key map. Key maps are intended to SHOW you (visually) which keys to play by matching (mapping) the locations of the keys on the keyboard. >>> The group of 12 keys from Middle C up to B form what we call the green Octave Group. Easy Piano - Level 2 - SKU: A0.984748 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by John M. Honeycutt. Children,Contemporary,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 36 pages. Music Innovators Workshop #4582895. Published by Music Innovators Workshop (A0.984748). This document is an instructional song collection in the MIW Basic Keyboard Skills Method. The first few pages provide a review of how the key maps show which keys to play in the keyboard - and how the timeline notation shows the timing of the notes. The rest of the collection provides two versions of each children's song - on facing pages. The left page notates the songs for both hands in the 10F version of the key maps. This version has the 10 fingers spread out over 10 white keys at a location that has the thumbs on E and F at the exact middle of the piano keyboard. This version makes it possible to play almost any song without moving the hands to the left or right on the keyboard. Songs are notated in the keys that make it possible for the hands to remain in this position. To do this for some songs, it is necessary for some of the fingers to be stationed on black keys, rather than on the white key mentioned above. The other version is notated so the the same song is played by the right hand only, just as it is when playing a song with a left hand accompaniment. These two versions for every song provide excellent training, yet make it very easy for beginners to play the songs.Contents of the collection:REVIEW
