This exciting piece comes from the opening of the movie "How To Train Your Dragon" - containing many of the familiar themes from the movie. It is arranged for late intermediate viola with piano accompaniment, and while rarely going outside first position, ranges in keys from four flats to four sharps, and uses a variety of time signatures throughout.

As the title indicates, Sonatina for Viola and Piano closely follows sonata form
a somewhat smaller scale. Tonality and tonal relationships are basic to sonata form,
and in this sonatina, the tonal relationships within and between the movements are

all based on seconds. The movements are:

1. Allegro moderato, a fairly strict sonata-allegro in B minor.
2. Andante, a theme and variations in B-flat major, an enharmonic minor second
relationship to the outer movements.
3. Vivace, an abridged sonata-rondo in the home key of B minor
