It's incredibly catchy and Jazzy and is brought to life in this charismatic arrangement for 3 Violas/Viola Trio or Viola Group & Piano which is also influenced by the brilliant Heifitz arrangement. Equally good for three individual players as well as a violin group it will get the audience jumping to their feet applaudingOriginally from Glasgow, Timothy studied at the Royal College of Music, London and the Banff Centre, Canada. He was the Pianist for the Isis Piano Trio and Ballet Creations and is now in demand as an accompanist and chamber musician having performed with artists such as Dame Sarah Connolly and Tasmin Little. He has toured widely internationally and has recorded for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM as well as TV appearances in Russia and Egypt. Murray’s compositions have been recorded by The Fibbonnaci Sequence and Piers Lane among others with reviews such as ‘Corruscating’ (Independent) and ‘Highly imaginative’ (The Sunday Times). Published by Hyrum Kohler (A0.1228636). I wanted to play a hymn in church without simply playing the same thing three times in a row. And, without words, I wanted to express the tension and pain that occasionally and inevitably accompanies trying one's best to live a good life. This arrangement is simultaneously fresh, familiar, and reasonably challenging for the performer. This is my go-to for playing in a church setting, but it can also fit right in to a pedagogical or classical recital scenario. The traditional tune wears different clothes throughout the piece, having variance in time signature, key signature, and mode (dipping into minor). This is a simplification and compression of my original arrangment for string quartet. I originally intended this to be for viola, but it just so happened to fit in the violin's range; I left the part in treble clef to accommodate both options. The piano part is somewhat easier to play than the violin/viola part (evidenced by how I can kind of play it), but it still serves a collaborative or duet role, sharing and passing the melody betwen parts.

This is the first publication of the Jewish Dance for cello solo (arranged for viola solo) and orchestra by Lev PULVER (1883 – 1970), based on the autograph manuscript of the score, realized and edited by Sergei Pichugin. The piano reduction of the composition has been made by the author. The piece was composed in 1942–43 in the midst of World War II. Presumably it was never performed since 1950, being completely forgotten. Jewish Dance is definitely among the masterpieces of Yiddish musical culture of the 20th century. Introductory text to the publication, written by Sergei Pichugin, includes a short biography of the composer and a description of the Jewish Dance.
