Published by Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez (A0.1137268). Mixtli (Clouds in Nahuat) is a set of 3 small pieces for Viola and Piano. It was written thanks to a collaboration with costarican pianist Rebeca Ordóñez RodrÃguez and costarican violinist/violist Erasmo Solerti who were looking for a piece to premiere in a concert dedicated to the Central American bicentennial. Clouds played a vital role in the lives of our ancestors. Thanks to their observation skills, they were able to achieve a deep understanding of the nature surrounding them. As a kid, one of the games I used to play with my cousins and my mom was finding shapes in the clouds. We spent several hours laying on the ground just looking at clouds changing shapes. Each movement represents a mood involving clouds. The first movement is a dance in 5/8 time signature. It begins with a challenging key that will require a skillful violist. The movement explores the range of the Viola, including harmonics and other techniques. The second movement explores the alto range of the Viola while allowing the player to be very expressive, the combination with the piano creates a musical atmosphere representing a gray cloudy day. The third movement is a fast-paced dance that represents a day with different cloud scenes, for example, rain for one moment and sunny the next minute.

Published by Han-Ki Kim (A0.557046). “Korean Simple Suite†No.3 For Viola and Piano Op.273C As far as melodies are concerned, the traditional 5 notes of Korean “Do.Re.Mi.Sol.La†are mainly used. It consists of five movements as follows: I tried to express the wedding ceremony of the bride and groom held in a traditional Korean front yard and the surrounding scenery. So, this piece's nick name is Happy Wedding. And Attached music file is only 1st mov. played by Violin just for a reference. 1. The Front Yard 2. Yeonji Gonzi 3. Joyful Dance 4. Waiting (Longing) 5. The Bride and Groom Movement 1, The Front Yard: In G minor in 8/12 time, it is a short song with a bright atmosphere. The front yard is a friendly place for villagers' gatherings and events. Movement 2, Yeonzi – Gonzi: In G major in 4/4 time, natural harmonics are used to describe the mysterious oriental atmosphere. The meaning of Yeonji Gonji is the red dot on the cheeks and forehead of the bride in a traditional wedding ceremony. Movement 3, Joyful Dance: 3/4 time B flat major, composed in ABA format, expressed the joy of dancing in Korea. Movement 4, Longing: In G minor in 6/4 time, we tried to express oriental waiting. Movement 5, The Bride and Groom : It is composed of 4/4 time and 6/4 time, and like the title of the title of Groom and Bride, it shows the contrasting character of liveliness and calm. It was composed in a rondo style that goes back and forth between D minor and F major.

Published by David McKeown (A0.587790). The most popular of Scott Joplin’s piano rags during his lifetime, The Maple Leaf Rag was published in 1899. Joplin lived for a while in Sedalia, Missouri and the Maple Leaf Club in that town is thought to have provided the name for this composition. It provided Joplin with a steady income for the rest of his life, and while he requested that it be played at his funeral, his wife refused as she felt it inappropriate. It was the first track on Joshua Rifkin’s famous 1970 revival recording of Joplin’s music and, never waning in popularity, it has featured in hundreds of films.This version for Viola and Piano includes all four sections of the original composition. The tempo in recorded versions varies widely between 72 and 126, so the marking of 92 is a suggestion only.Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. It was originally part of the two volume clarinet collection, Carols For The King From Around The World, also available at Sheet Music Press. For advanced intermediate performers, this is sheer fun from start to finish, and very suitable for Christmas concerts. The opening measures can be omitted, and the song commence where the piano enters. The piano left hand plays a walking bass throughout and can be performed with a double bass player, as in the recording provided - contact me for the extracted part, or if interested in a recorded piano accompaniment. It comes from the 2018 remake of the film 'A Star is Born' and is sung originally by Lady Gaga.I was asked to do an arrangement of the song for a young lady to sing with Boobs & Brass. I was struck by the quality of the words and the music and immediately thought of it as a great addition to the solo repertoire.In terms of standard, I would judge this to be around Grades 5 to 6 ABRSM/Trinity and makes for an interesting challenge away from the grading syllabus.
