Chants du Rhin for Trombone and Piano

Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792526 Composed by Georges Bizet. Arranged by Ralph Sauer. 20th Century,Classical,Romantic Period. Score and part. 44 pages. Gordon Cherry #5008317. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792526). The Chants du Rhin (Songs of the Rhine), a cycle of six pieces, based on poems by Joseph Méry, were written in 1865, and Bizet performed two of them on 16 April 1866 at a soirée of the Beaujolais Philharmonic Society. The songs are grouped symmetrically around La bohémienne as the central piece, framed by two meditatively yearning pieces (in E and D flat major) and two vividly exuberant ones (similarly in E and D flat major), with L’aurore serving as an introduction. In this cycle Bizet takes up the theme of the gypsy girl which had already entered European music in the operas The Bohemian Girl by the Irish composer Michael William Balfe and Verdi’s Il trovatore, as well as in Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsodies for piano. Bizet will return to it one year later in La jolie fille de Perth and ten years later in Carmen. The fourth piece Les confidences shows similarities in tonality, structure and motifs to the middle part of the third movement of Chopin’s Sonata in B minor.

Piano,Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.593103 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Christian,Gospel,Praise & Worship,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and part. 4 pages. David McKeown #6416313. Published by David McKeown (A0.593103). O When the Saints is a beautiful spiritual arranged here for Solo Trombone and Piano. The origins of O When the Saints are unclear, though it was first recorded in 1923. A later instrumental recording by Louis Armstrong affirmed the song’s status as a jazz standard and created an ongoing association with the city of New Orleans. When the Saints Go Marching In was later performed by artists as diverse as Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby and Chuck Berry.

With Full Score and Individual Parts. Enjoy it!Gabriel Fauré (1845 – 1924) was a French composer, organist, pianist and teacher. He was one of the foremost French composers of his generation, and his musical style influenced many 20th-century composers. Among his best-known works are his Pavane, Requiem, Sicilienne, nocturnes for piano and the songs Après un rêve and Clair de lune. Although his best-known and most accessible compositions are generally his earlier ones, Fauré composed many of his most highly regarded works in his later years, in a more harmonically and melodically complex style. For Tutorials, Play Alongs or request New Arrangements, visit the Youtube Channel: Sheet Music To Play

Piano,Tenor Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1378348 By Belinda Carlisle. By Ellen Shipley and Rick Nowels. Arranged by Kevin P Holdgate. 20th Century,Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Pop,Standards. Score and part. 7 pages. Kevin P Holdgate #962972. Published by Kevin P Holdgate (A0.1378348). This is an arrangement for solo instrument and piano pitched at around the level of ABRSM Grade 4/5 for most instruments. The range of notes is very compact with the difficulty steming from the often complicated rhythms and also the opening statement of the main theme is unaccompanied requiring the soloist to play with confidence and accuracy. The use of syncopated rhythms makes this an excellent repertoire piece.Heaven Is a Place on Earth is a single by American singer Belinda Carlisle from her second studio album, Heaven on Earth (1987). Written by Rick Nowels and Ellen Shipley, the song was released as the lead single from the Heaven on Earth album on September 14, 1987, and it reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 on December 5, 1987, becoming Carlisle's only US chart-topper to date. A month later it peaked at number one in the United Kingdom, where it held the top spot of the UK Singles Chart for two weeks. In Australia it peaked at number 2. It is considered to be Carlisle's signature song. The song was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1988, but lost out to Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).

Piano,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.550490 Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Christmas,Easter,Standards. Score and part. 21 pages. Jmsgu3 #4642165. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.550490). Sonata da Chiesa No. 4 in Bb Major for Trombone & Piano by Antonio Vivaldi in Four movements. Duration: ca. 14:41. Score: 15 pages.Antonio Vivaldi was an Italian composer and violinist in the Baroque period, who is widely considered to be one of the greatest composers of all time. He was a major influence on many other composers of the Baroque era, and his influence can still be felt in music today.Vivaldi's most important contribution to music history was his development of the sonata da chiesa, or church sonata. This form of composition was a variation on the Baroque sonata, and was used primarily in sacred music. It was characterized by a more lyrical approach to composition, with a focus on melody and harmonic structure. Vivaldi was one of the first composers to make use of this form, and his works set the standard for future composers. His church sonatas were written in a wide variety of keys and styles, and their influence can be heard in the works of later composers, such as J.S. Bach and Handel.Vivaldi's influence on music history is far-reaching, and his contributions to the development of the sonata da chiesa are among his most important. His compositions are still widely performed and appreciated today, and his legacy continues to shape the music of the modern era.

Après un rêve (Fauré) for Trombone and Piano

(+)
Piano,Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1303420 Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by Harry Walker. 19th Century,Contest,Festival,Romantic Period. Score and part. 8 pages. SCORE EDITIONS #892994. Published by SCORE EDITIONS (A0.1303420). This mélodie is the first in a set of three songs, opus 7, which also comprises Hymne and Barcarolle respectively. All three were composed between 1870 and 1877, then collected and published in 1878 under the title Trois Mélodies. Not originally conceived as a song cycle, these three songs acquired this opus number much later, in the 1890s. The poem for Après un rêve was loosely adapted from an anonymous Italian text by Romain Bussine. It describes, in the form of a dream, the imaginary flight of two lovers who are head over heels in love, although the last verse brings the dreamer inexorably back to harsh reality as dawn is breaking. In this version, the composition was arranged for Trombone and Piano by Harry Walker.

Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792371). One of the greatest works of the French impressionist era, PreÌlude aÌ€ l’apreÌ€s-midi d’un faune by Claude Debussy evokes mystery, stillness, lyricism, finesse, sensuality, nature, dreams and desires. Taken from a poem by SteÌphane MallarmeÌ this work is considered by some to be a turning point of musical history as an awakening of modern music as it stretches the limits of tonality. The work was later choreographed in 1912 by Nijinsky. This marvelous arrangement by Ralph Sauer is appropriate for advanced performers and is about 10 minutes in length.

Piano,Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549436 Composed by AntonÃn Dvořák. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3494231. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549436). Score: 7 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 3 pages. Duration: 4:25 Not difficult, but requires sensitivity & dynamic control. Suitable for recitals, church meditations, or school programs. Dvořák Background AntonÃn Dvořák (1841 –1904) was, of course, a composer from Czechoslovakia. As a matter of fact, he was among the first Bohemian composers to attain universal recognition. It is important to realize that the late Romantic Nationalist period featured composers who used traditional and folk elements to portray the character of their nation. In particular, we see this in the music of Grieg (Norway), Finland (Sibelius), and Smetana (Bohemia).  Dvořák relied markedly on rhythms and other characteristics of Moravian and Bohemian folk music. Ascent to Fame Dvořák was truly a child musical prodigy on the violin. The premiere performances of his compositions notably occurred in 1872 and 1873. He submitted his First Symphony in particular to a German competition, but it failed to win. Consequently, in 1874 he presented two more symphonies to the Austrian State Prize for Composition. Johannes Brahms was the principal of the jury and was accordingly very impressed. They forthwith awarded the prize to Dvořák in 1874, 1876, and 1877. At this point, Brahms thereupon endorsed Dvořák to the publisher Simrock. Later, the publisher commissioned Dvořák to compose the Slavonic Dances, Op. 46. These became popular overnight and, as a result, Dvořák's worldwide status was launched. International Status Dvořák visited England upon invitation nine times. On each visit, he frequently conducted performances of his own compositions. He conducted concerts of his music, especially in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Eventually, the Prague Conservatory in fact appointed Dvořák as a professor. There, to be sure, he wrote his famous Dumky Trio. United States Consequently, the National Conservatory of Music of America appointed him as director in 1892. As a result, Dvořák composed his two most famous symphonic works: the Symphony No. 9 (From the New World), which spread his name universally, and his Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, one of the most famous of all cello works. Moreover, he wrote his most celebrated American String Quartet during this time. At the same time, because of his growing recognition in Europe and his homesickness for his own country, he left to return to Bohemia in 1895. Â

Concerto for Trombone and Piano accompaniment (piano reduction)

Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.810983 Composed by Cherry Classics Music. Arranged by John, W., and Ware. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 63 pages. Gordon Cherry #4601711. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810983). This fine work has sat dormant for many years and has now come to light thanks to the efforts of Charlie Vernon, Bass Trombonist of the Chicago Symphony, who performed this virtuoso work as a young performer. The concerto is in the standard three movement form: Fast, slow, fast. This publication is a reduction from the original orchestral version (to be released at some point in the future). Here is a description of the Concerto by the composer, John W. Ware. I started on the trombone concerto in my junior year studying composition at Indiana University. While working on it, I learned of an opportunity to make it sort of a thesis piece (though students didn't write a thesis in composition while an undergrad). The original version was for trombone with string orchestra, and it was performed by the IU String Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Arthur Corra, with Robert Priez, trombone, as part of my senior composition recital. I thought the performance was quite good (Priez played extraordinarily well), and the piece received a newspaper review in the Indiana Daily Student, in which the reviewer wrote that the work was almost too exciting. I thought at the time that he had given me and my music a fine compliment. I made a piano version of the accompaniment, shortening and tightening the first movement, for performances in 1966; I made a second revision in 1967 for a performance by E. J. Eaton, trombonist at the University of Tennessee at Martin, arriving at the form in which the work exists now. The first movement is in fairly normal sonata-allegro form, in the key of A minor. It alternates between assertive and more thoughtful moods. There is no introduction; the soloist enters immediately and dominates much of the movement. The main theme is--by some manipulation--a source for most of the other themes, and all of the themes are used in close proximity to each other, including contrapuntal combinations, especially near the end. Originally the movement included a lengthy fugato, now much shortened and including a stretto that builds and subsides before a cadenza leading to a coda based on both the principal and secondary themes. Key relations in this movement, as in the other two, are quite free and often chromatic, with frequent third-relations; but returns to the tonic at the end are emphatic. The writing is challenging for both soloist and accompanist; the piece is substantial, requiring technique and stamina. The second movement is in F minor and is also built on both contrast and close relationships between the main and secondary themes. The main theme is heard in the piano part before the soloist enters. The mood is more lyric than in the first movement, but with dramatic episodes also. In this movement are some definite derivations from themes in the first movement. The ending is a sort of lengthened shadow of the opening. The finale returns to A minor, with themes slightly related to polonaise rhythms, but with strong echoes of first-movement themes. Here, too, dramatic and lyric episodes alternate, with dotted rhythms frequently propelling the music forward. The introduction is a brief and simple preparation for the solo entry. Later in the movement, a very brief, slightly slower section is soon overtaken by the original tempo. Toward the end, there is a second cadenza, again leading to a swift and energetic coda. The work is about 20 minutes in length and is appropriate for advanced performers.

Piano,Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549853 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Concert,Easter,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3555091. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549853). Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the voice is calling us) from Cantata BWV 140. Duration: ca. 4:00, Score: 6 pages, solo part 1 page, piano part: 4 pages. Program this for church services during the Easter season, weddings, or as a recital encore.Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the Voice is calling us) also known as: Sleepers Awake Bach composed his church cantata Wachet auf (BWV 140) as part of his second annual cantata cycle covering the entire annual church calendar. It is based on the hymn of the same name by Philipp Nicolai (1599). The hymn text covers the readings for the 27th Sunday after Trinity. Bach designed the cantata in seven movements, setting the stanzas in various forms. Among these forms are the chorale fantasia, the chorale prelude, and a four-part chorale. He casts the new lyrics as recitatives – in a manner similar to the opera. Fourth Movement Bach writes the fourth movement, Zion hört die Wächter singen (Zion hears the watchmen singing), in the style of a chorale prelude with the chorale phrases performed as a strict cantus firmus. The phrases seem to enter at times erratically against the famous lyrical melody. The violins play this melody in unison as a foil against the cantus phrases. The violin melody is so independent and complete that when the cantus melody appears it catches the listener at times totally off-guard. Bach later transcribed this movement for organ (BWV 645). This transcription became No. 1 of the Six Schübler Chorales. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with the instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and certainly the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio. History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer. Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV. &n.

Piano,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726102 Composed by Plainchant melody. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Advent,Christian,Sacred. Score and part. 10 pages. Con Spirito Music #6092177. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726102). “O Come, O Come Emmanuel†are the opening words of John Mason Neale’s (1818-1866) translation of the Medieval text, “Veni, Emmanuel,†with music arranged by Thomas Helmore (1811-1890), for The Hymnal Noted (London, 1856). The text of this most famous of Advent hymns is taken from various “‘O’ Antiphons,†verses sung or recited before and after the Magnificat during the evening Vespers service in the last week of Advent. Each antiphon is a name of Christ, and together they echo the foretelling of the long-expected Messiah by the prophet Isaiah. The origin of the music is uncertain. Some claim it to be from a 15th-century French processionale (hymnal, liturgical manual) for Franciscan nuns; others believe it to be of earlier, eighth-century Gregorian plainsong origins. This arrangement features both traditional and contemporary harmonies and a meditative original introduction prior to the opening presentation of the melody by trombone, which is echoed in countermelodies in later presentations.Includes both bass clef and Bb treble clef solo parts.©Copyright 2020 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Country Dance Mr. Sauer has done a beautiful job scoring these works for Trombone. Score and part. 18 pages. Jmsgu3 #3511293. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549588). Duration: ca. 2:17 Score: 10 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 5 pages. A proven audience pleaser - perfect for a recital encore! Grieg Background In the first place, Edvard Grieg (1843 –1907) was a Norwegian composer as well as a concert pianist. As a matter of fact, most music historians consider him one of the foremost Romantic era composers. Consequently, his music is part of the international standard classical repertoire. Grieg moreover used Norwegian folk music in his own compositions.  Consequently, he ushered Norwegian music to transnational consciousness. Furthermore, he forged a national musical identity for Norway. It is important to realize that he did this in a manner similar to Jean Sibelius in Finland, and BedÅ™ich Smetana in Bohemia. Legacy Grieg is especially celebrated in the city of Bergen. For example, the city has erected numerous statues depicting Grieg. Specifically, the city has named a concert hall (Grieg Hall), a music school (Grieg Academy) and a professional choir (Edvard Grieg Kor) after him. As a matter of fact, there is also a museum located at his former home in Troldhaugen. Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 (Op. 46) Grieg wrote incidental music for the purpose of illustrating a play by Ibsen known as Peer Gynt. The play includes, in particular, the famous selection entitled, In the Hall of the Mountain King. In this composition, Grieg indeed depicts the exploits of the scoundrel, Peer Gynt. In one famous episode, for example, Peer steals a bride at her wedding. For this reason, the people chase him, but soon Peer falls, thereupon striking his skull on a boulder. He wakens forthwith in a highland bounded by angry gnomes. Consequently, the music of In the Hall of the Mountain King represents the mad gnomes taunting Peer. Therefore, each time the theme repeats it gets louder and faster. In the end, Peer surprisingly escapes from the mountain. Holberg Suite and Misc. Summary It must be remembered that Grieg originally wrote his Holberg Suite for the piano. In other words, he only later arranged it for strings. Further, Grieg composed by and large many songs with lyrics by famous writers such as Heine, Goethe, Ibsen, Hans Christian Andersen, Rudyard Kipling, and others. On balance, Norwegian pianist Eva Knardahl recorded altogether Grieg’s whole piano catalog on LP in 1980. These recordings were released again on CD in 2006. In any event, Grieg himself performed and recorded the bulk of these pieces toward the end of his life.  Â

Score: 14 pages. 205 measures.Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) was an Italian composer and violinist in the Baroque period, who is widely considered to be one of the greatest composers of all time.
