As a matter of fact, most music historians consider him one of the foremost Romantic era composers. Consequently, his music is part of the international standard classical repertoire. Grieg moreover used Norwegian folk music in his own compositions. Consequently, he ushered Norwegian music to transnational consciousness. Furthermore, he forged a national musical identity for Norway. It is important to realize that he did this in a manner similar to Jean Sibelius in Finland, and Bedřich Smetana in Bohemia.LegacyGrieg is celebrated in the city of Bergen. For example, the city has erected numerous statues depicting Grieg. Specifically, the city has named a concert hall (Grieg Hall), a music school (Grieg Academy) and a professional choir (Edvard Grieg Kor) after him. As a matter of fact, there is also a museum located at his former home in Troldhaugen.Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 (Op. 46)Grieg wrote incidental music for the purpose of illustrating a play by Ibsen known as Peer Gynt. The play includes, in particular, the famous selection entitled, In the Hall of the Mountain King. In this composition, Grieg indeed depicts the exploits of the scoundrel, Peer Gynt. In one famous episode, for example, Peer steals a bride at her wedding. For this reason, the people chase him, but soon Peer falls, thereupon striking his skull on a boulder. He wakens forthwith in a highland bounded by angry gnomes. Consequently, the music of In the Hall of the Mountain King represents the mad gnomes taunting Peer. Therefore, each time the theme repeats it gets louder and faster. In the end, Peer surprisingly escapes from the mountain.Holberg Suite and Misc. SummaryIt must be remembered that Grieg originally wrote his Holberg Suite for the piano. In other words, he only later arranged it for strings. Further, Grieg composed by and large many songs with lyrics by famous writers such as Heine, Goethe, Ibsen, Hans Christian Andersen, Rudyard Kipling, and others. On balance, Norwegian pianist Eva Knardahl recorded altogether Grieg’s whole piano catalog on LP in 1980. These recordings were released again on CD in 2006. Published by C.M.Brandon (A0.1225338). A three movement suite which highlights the versatility of the clarinet. In the Tradition – An enjoyable piece written in the “textbook†Sonata form. One will be able to find an Introduction, Primary Theme, Transition, Secondary theme, Closing Theme, Development, and the Recapitulation. The classical styling showcases the clarinet’s versatility, range, and colors. In the Tinnabular – This melancholy piece explores the minimalist style of composition invented by Arvo Pärt called tintinnabuli. The two voice types characterized in this method (‘tintinnabular’ arpeggiating voice/the stepwise diatonic voice) are found in the piano while the clarinet adds a melody. Both of these voices expand, note by note, over time. In the Time of Rag – A lively and entertaining piece in the ‘ragtime’ style. Performers are encouraged to improvise, as was customary for these pieces. The drum set is not necessary but does add a great dimension to the music. From my research, I believe the style of drumming needed is “2nd line drummingâ€. The high hat and snare notation is meant to simulate the beats using brushes, rather than sticks, on the snare while maintaining the march rhythms. Washboards, tambourines, and the like could be incorporated at the discretion of the percussionist. Dynamic levels of the drums should not overtake the clarinet and piano but enhance the overall performance.

In fact, the simple melody you hear in the first movement is the first melody that the composer ever came up with. The other movements are other ideas from the composer's early career sitting at a piano and making things up, as well as messing around with music producing software. These ideas were recalled and arranged into this suite for clarinet and piano and were performed at Brigham Young University-Idaho during the Spring 2023 semester. Originaly, this piece was composed for Violin and Piano, and Dedicated to Andreas Buschatz, Concertmaster of Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. All piece's main theme is generally based on Oriental pentatonic tone(Do, Re, Mi, Sol, La).1st movement(Prologue-Greeting) is just for a Greeting. And for 2nd movement(Oriental Flute), there is tried to express oriental flute's feeling, and for 3rd movement(Cheerfulness), adapted Korean Traditional rhythm, for example, such as Kutkuri Jajinmori. 4th movement(Sorrow) is major key, but it has a deep sorrow. For Finale(Festival), Rondo form is used, and Korean Traditional Children's song is adapted as main Theme.This music transcribed for Cello and Piano was a Competition Repertorie Requirement of Tennessee Cello Workshop(2021.2.26.-28), University of Tennessee, School of Music. It is a march that exists in the mind of a child who is playing with toy soldiers; therefore there is playfulness and humor that would not occur in a functional march. This is the fourth movement of six contrasting movements for a woodwind doubler that was composed for and premiered by Bret Pimentel. Each movement can stand alone as a solo piece or it can be played by a woodwind doubler as part of a suite. The other movements are Intrada for Flute, Romanza for Oboe, Valse for Bassoon, Nocturne for Saxophone, and Galop for Piccolo.

Each movement draws on inspiration from Kara’s own time at sea serving in the military imagined as a suite of four short programmatic movements. We follow a young sailor as they stagger around the deck in the rough weather, finally succumbing to the corkscrew motion of the ocean in ‘Sea Sick Shanty’; a moment of peace and beauty for the young sailor as the ship sails through an ‘Archipelago’ teaming with marine life; In ‘Brew Time March, the young sailor excitedly hears the bugle call to have a break from work (brew time), grab a coffee and sit on the bow to watch the waves… lost in thoughts, they unexpectedly hear the sound of work recommencing, and scurry back, making it just in the nick of time… waiting eagerly for next the next call for Brew Time! The preparation, spectacle, pride, and excitement of ‘Sailing into Harbour’ completes this suite, suitable for an intermediate to more advanced player looking for something entertaining and a little bit different! Range E1-G4. The second of Bach’s four orchestral suites is actually the one he composed last, in Leipzig around 1739, and is probably the last orchestral music of any kind that he wrote. It is basically a solo flute concerto in the form of a dance suite, and an extraordinarily difficult flute concerto at that. A badinerie is a sort of character piece in 18th-century suites, with no particular dance rhythm or meter. This one has a full measure of the light and lively bantering the title implies, which has made it also popular with jazz arrangers. The Duration is approx. 1.32 minutes and the level is Advanced Intermediate.
