Flute,Piano - SKU: A0.1035219 Composed by Piotr Tchaikovski. Arranged by James Strauss. Halloween,Hanukkah,Romantic Period,World. Score and part. 16 pages. James Strauss #5297983. Published by James Strauss (A0.1035219). Writing to his brother Modest on 18/30 January 1877, Tchaikovsky mentioned that the violinist Iosif Kotek had ordered a piece from him for a forthcoming concert. Four days later Kotek wrote to Tchaikovsky: Thank you in advance for the waltz; it will surely be wonderful, as is everything that you compose... this shall be a piece to impress everybody. In another letter from mid/late February, we read: Incidentally, about the waltz. Why force yourself if you are tired? Of course, I would be delighted and infinitely glad if you were to write the waltz, especially since it is for me. I am still very glad that you have even started to think about this.In the period from March to August, we find no further references to work on the Valse. But, given that in March and April, Tchaikovsky wrote his Fourth Symphony, and that in May he was completely absorbed in composing the opera Yevgeny Onegin, it is likely that by this time the Valse had already been completed. It seems that the waltz was partly or wholly orchestrated by Kotek after Tchaikovsky completed the version for violin with piano. This is suggested by two letters from Kotek to Tchaikovsky: in October 1878, the violinist reported to Tchaikovsky on an unsuccessful performance of the piece: Could my instrumentation be the reason that the waltz did not please?, and early in 1879 he wrote: I think that I badly orchestrated the Waltz ... what extraordinarily empty sounds!. None of Tchaikovsky's letters refer to the orchestration of the piece. Here for the very first time in aversion for flute and piano - I tried to not transcribe the violin part, but re-write the solo part as it was made for flute.

Flute,Piano - Level 1 - SKU: A0.548476 Composed by Mueller. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Christmas. Score and part. 3 pages. Jmsgu3 #3386529. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548476). Traditional Christmas song arranged for Flute & Piano. Third verse features new harmony. Score: 2 pg. Part: 1 pg.Away in a Manger Away in a Manger is a popular Christmas song published originally sometime in the later 19th century and performed throughout the world. In England, it is considered one of the two most popular carols of all time; a 1996 poll ranked it as a tie for second place. To begin with, many thought it was written by Martin Luther, but now the song is considered to be absolutely American. The most common musical arrangements are by William Kirkpatrick (1895) and James R. Murray (1887). The melody was first published, as Luther's Cradle Hymn, by James R. Murray. Then, came a confusing series of explanations about how Martin Luther wrote the song. Murray even went so far as to suggest that Luther wrote it for his children. As a result, the song has become known as simply Mueller. Nobody knows who this Mueller actually is, but the name stuck. Popularity By the 1880’s the cradle song was being performed in church. By the 1990’s the song was becoming the most popular Christmas song of all time. It was sung in school, in church, and at home by nearly everyone. Other musical settings The first musical setting published with the lyrics appeared in the Little Children's Book for Schools and Families (1885). The title was Away in a Manger. This edition is the first one not to attribute the song to Martin Luther. Charles H. Gabriel was the first arranger to present the third verse. He also composed and published a large number of different arrangements of the song. In one of his settings, he supplies a chorus for each verse with asleep sung in canon. Another prevalent preparation uses the lyrics to the melody Flow Gently, Sweet Afton. Yet another arrangement dating uses the lyrics to an old Normandy Carol.

Flute,Piano - Level 1 - SKU: A0.548707 Composed by Martin Luther. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Easter,Instructional,Standards. Score and part. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #3411715. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548707). Out of the Depths I Cry to You by Martin Luther arranged for alto flute & piano. The first verses feature modified counterpoint and harmony proceeding at quarter = 82. The final verse is reharmonized for maximum dramatic effect at a more contemplative tempo such as quarter = 64. Very powerful selection for Lent or Easter. Duration (3 verses) 3:05, 36 ms.Score: 3 pg. Solo part: 1 pg. The piano reads from the score. Out of the Depths Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir (From deep affliction I cry out to you), is, of course, a hymn composed by Martin Luther. Moreover, Luther also wrote the lyrics, essentially a paraphrase of Psalm 130. First published in 1524, it is also one of eight songs in the original Lutheran hymnal. It appears likewise in many hymnals and in different translations. The lyrics furthermore stimulated compositions from the Renaissance to the contemporary. Consequently, composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach built an entire chorale cantata on it. Other composers similarly contributed pieces, such as Felix Mendelssohn and Max Reger. Luther Background Martin Luther, (1483 –1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, and moreover, an influential character in the Protestant Reformation. Luther had a momentous impact on church and society due to his contributions to the musical arts. He wanted to disseminate the gospel among mankind and with this intention thought that the best way to do that was through music. Influence It is important to realize that other musicians, and their descendants, were encouraged by Luther’s songs and wrote their own hymns. Luther, to be sure, had a thorough musical education. For example, he knew secular and sacred songs from an early age. He, in particular, played the lute well and sang in the monastery when he was a monk. That is to say, music was an essential part of his life. He in fact first began writing songs in 1523, sometimes writing the melody as well as the lyrics. Luther was certainly able to evaluate the composers of his time. He thought especially highly of Josquin des and Ludwig Senfl. He was also acquainted, with this in mind, with other composers and their works. Legacy The Lutheran musical ethos soon covered all of Germany and later significantly fashioned Protestant musical culture. Heinrich Schütz and Johann Sebastian Bach are the most compelling evidence of this Protestant musical culture. Additionally, as a point often overlooked, the pedal organ, first refined in northern Germany, became universally prevalent. As a matter of fact, Dieterich Buxtehude established a regular evening organ concert series in Lübeck. Another key point is that this concert series, in turn, spread North German Musical ideas worldwide. Luther was especially convinced that music is a beautiful and exclusive offering of the divine.

Flute,Piano - Level 2 - SKU: A0.565905 By Sharon Wilson. By Traditional. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Classical,Contemporary,Renaissance,Sacred. Score and part. 5 pages. Sharon Wilson #6574341. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565905). Here is an easy instrumental duet arrangement (for FLUTE solo with PIANO accompaniment) of the traditional praise chorus Grant Us Your Peace. Many will also recognize this ancient tune by its Latin lyrics Dona Nobis Pacem. Since this song is so short, the PIANO introduction is the first verse. For the second time through the song, the FLUTE plays the melody followed by playing harmony while the PIANO again leads with the melody. The song concludes with the FLUTE playing the melody again while the PIANO adds another unique accompaniment. The purchase price includes a combined score (grand staff, 3-stave) with both parts (FLUTE and PIANO) on each page, plus a 1-staff solo part. The range for the FLUTE solo is F4 (first F above middle C) to G5 (second G above middle C).Visit Sharon Wilson’s website: www.SharonWilsonMusic.comSubscribe to her YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/user/SharonWilsonMusic

Very strong arrangement for Easter. Duration: 2:48. 84 ms. Score: 7 pg. Solo part 1 pg. piano part 3 pg. Morning Has Broken is a popular and well-known Christian hymn first published in 1931. It has words by English author Eleanor Farjeon and was inspired by the village of Alfriston in East Sussex, then set to a traditional Scottish Gaelic tune known as Bunessan [1] (it shares this tune with the 19th century Christmas Carol Child in the Manger[2]). It is often sung in children's services and in Funeral services.[3] English pop musician and folk singer Cat Stevens included a version on his 1971 album Teaser and the Firecat. The song became identified with Stevens due to the popularity of this recording. It reached number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, number one on the U.S. easy listening chartin 1972,[4] and number four on the Canadian RPM Magazine charts. The hymn originally appeared in the second edition of Songs of Praise (published in 1931), to the tune Bunessan, composed in the Scottish Islands. In Songs of Praise Discussed, the editor, Percy Dearmer, explains that as there was need for a hymn to give thanks for each day, English poet and children's author Eleanor Farjeon had been asked to make a poem to fit the lovely Scottish tune. A slight variation on the original hymn, also written by Eleanor Farjeon, can be found in the form of a poem contributed to the anthology Children's Bells, under Farjeon's new title, A Morning Song (For the First Day of Spring), published by Oxford University Press in 1957. The song is noted in 9/4 time but with a 3/4 feel. Bunessan had been found in L. McBean's Songs and Hymns of the Gael, published in 1900.[5] Before Farjeon's words, the tune was used as a Christmas carol, which began Child in the manger, Infant of Mary, translated from the Scottish Gaelic lyrics written by Mary MacDonald. The English-language Roman Catholic hymnal also uses the tune for the James Quinn hymns, Christ Be Beside Me and This Day God Gives Me, both of which were adapted from the traditional Irish hymn St. Patrick's Breastplate. Another Christian hymn, Baptized In Water, borrows the tune. -Wikipedia

The piece includes playful interplay and new original material/solo/s. Ukrainian Folk Carol is just one of five pieces from 'Christmas Jazz - Volume 2' Flute edition (also available in Bb sax, Eb sax and Bb clarinet editions) which also includes; Deck the halls (Piazzolla-inspired style), The Holly and the Ivy - a smooshy smooth jazz ballad with original solo/s, Away in a manger - again, a gentle smooth jazz style, and O Holy Night (which has cheeky interplay, yet sweeping original lines too). All the pieces are aimed at early intermediate-confident intermediate level (typical UK exam grades from grade 4-6) so are achievable by most players (and don't take weeks and weeks of preparation; very important at the busy festive time!).There is also a 'Christmas Jazz - Volume 1' collection by the same composers (which includes; God rest ye merry gentlemen, Silent night, The first nowell, Hark the herald, and I saw three ships - all of which are available on SMP, or search for Christmas Jazz volume 1 if you'd like to buy the collection at a bargain price).

Cello,Flute,Piano - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1216424 Composed by Peter Le Tissier. Classical,Contemporary. 4 pages. Peter Le Tissier #813031. Published by Peter Le Tissier (A0.1216424). The 'Cadenza' for Flute, Cello, and Piano, was written in late 2018 and updated in the Spring of 2019 for its first performance in London of that year with the Epoch Ensemble. The work is written for highly skilled players, and utilises three sections where the Flute and Cello begin far apart, merge together and then distance onesful from one another again. The piano part is based on the note 'A', and this pitch locks the whole structure together. The piece should be performed with all players using the full score, as the simultaneous use of free-time and very strict coordination requires all players to be aware of what is going on around them. The cello will need to detune their lowest C-string so that its fundamental pitch is now A, and the part has been written such that the fourth string is a transposing line, so that the player can read as if it were in C for the purposes of fingerings, with the sounding pitch a minor third lower.Any performances, particularly those that are local or national premières, must be made aware of by the composer, who appreciates all opportunities for performances.

Flute,Piano - Level 5 - SKU: A0.996520 Composed by James Mayhew. Concert,Contemporary,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 16 pages. James Mayhew #5857157. Published by James Mayhew (A0.996520). *Includes the flute part on its own at the end of the file*This is a set of theme and variations in C minor (although it ends in C major) for flute and piano. The theme is a simple, melancholy melody with the first three variations on it being in C minor (and it is worth noting that the piano accompaniment is just chords for these first three variations), the fourth variation in Eb major while the fifth is the finale which includes numerous diversions from the theme and many contrasting passages of rich material, although the theme does appear in a fugato section and in another short, jig-like variation section, before it is played a couple of times near the end in the form of triumphant returns. Many passages are of an advanced level, particularly towards the end.
