First of all, Scriabin composed mostly for the solo piano and also the orchestra. This is probably because he was a gifted pianist and therefore certainly appreciated the piano. Scriabin grew up in the late Romantic period, consequently, he was fond of the great piano masters of the time. As a result, he wrote his first noteworthy compositions in the manner of Chopin and Liszt.FormsLikewise, Scriabin used many of the same forms as Chopin. These certainly include the étude, prelude, nocturne, and even the mazurka. In contrast, as he developed his own sense of style his music became more and more unusual. So, the last five of his Piano Sonatas do not have a key signature and therefore lean towards atonality.PhilosophyScriabin also developed a keen interest in philosophy and likewise poetry. He was above all particularly fascinated by Nietzsche, Delville, and Blavatsky. Consequently, he finally established his own ideas about metaphysics and certainly mysticism. Ricucci-HillA trio for flute, cello, and piano, Advanced, 52 PagesForest Rituals (2016, rev. 2017) is a piece with various layers. On the surface, it is a trio based around the image of a pagan ritual occuring at the setting of the sun and the rising of the moon, full of life, dance, reverence, and mystery. On a deeper, more personal level, it is a piece about new beginnings. Ricucci-Hill wrote the piece for the Zodiac Music Academy and Festival in Valdeblore, France which was their first international performance as well as their first music festival. Upon returning, the piece was revised utilizing the knowledge and experience gained from the festival, which foresaw a shift in their compositional voice. Forest Rituals was awarded 3rd in the 2017 Abundant Silence Composition Competition.

Commissioned by the SAMRO Endowment for the National Arts, this piece was designed for young flautists looking for new music works for competitions.Tanzanite is a blue/purple gemstone which can only be found in Tanzania, and no where else in the world. When it is found, in its rough state, it is usually a reddish brown colour. It requires an artificial heat of up to 600C to bring out its blue violet colour. It is found mostly in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Tanzanite was inspired my trips to Tanzania.
