Flute,Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.551640 Composed by Claude Debussy (1862 – 1918). Arranged by James Guthrie, ASCAP. Holiday,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 22 pages. Jmsgu3 #5327767. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.551640). Claude Debussy: Arabesque No. 2. Duration ca 3:45. Debussy's Arabesques are considered to be one of the earliest expressions of French impressionism. They are a suite of two piano pieces that contain hints of Debussy's developing musical style. Although they did not receive much attention when they were first published, they are now regarded as early impressionist standards. Debussy seems to wander through modes and keys, achieving evocative scenes throughout both pieces. The Arabesques are important in the history of music as they represent a significant development in the impressionist movement.Claude Debussy was a French composer born in 1862 who developed a highly original system of harmony and musical structure that expressed the ideals of the Impressionist and Symbolist painters and writers of his time. He is considered one of the most important and influential composers of the 20th century. Debussy's compositions, including his orchestral poems and piano music, helped establish the musical language for much of the twentieth century. Critics often credited Debussy with pioneering a genre called impressionism, although Debussy consistently rejected the term. Debussy's best-known musical arabesque is his Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune (1894).

Flute,Piano - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1299446 Composed by Felix Rivera. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Score and part. 28 pages. Felix Rivera #889315. Published by Felix Rivera (A0.1299446). Invention #1 is a captivating exploration of musical landscapes, seamlessly blending elements of fantasia and the subtle structure of sonata form. With a nod to the past while firmly rooted in a modern tonal harmonic system, this composition takes listeners on a journey through evocative melodies and intricate harmonies. The piece opens with a dynamic contrast between the two instruments, setting the stage for the unfolding musical narrative. The piano introduces a percussive motif atop a flute drone, its rhythmic intensity driving the initial thematic material. This is contrasted later with a second thematic idea which is more gloomy and chorale like with the flute presenting the material over changing harmonies in the piano.Throughout the composition, another thematic idea emerges as a reprieve or time of reflection to balance the two contrasting ideas. The themes interweave, creating a tapestry of evolving musical ideas. The composer skillfully employs repetition and thematic development to weave a complex yet accessible musical fabric. With its fusion of traditional forms and innovative harmonic language, Invention #1 invites audiences to embark on a musical journey that transcends time and genre, leaving a lasting impression long after the final notes have faded.

Flute and piano - intermediate to advanced - SKU: S9.Q53381 Op. 69. Composed by Giulio Briccialdi. Edited by Edmund Wachter and Elisabeth Weinzierl. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. Op. 69. 17 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53381. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53381). English • German. The Italian Giulio Briccialdi was taught to play the flute chiefly by his father. His virtuoso career began at an early age and he was appointed as flute teacher to the Count of Syracuse in Sicily. On numerous tours his playing drew enthusiastic responses from audiences and critics alike: ‘The only really good flute-player that I have ever seen’, wrote Rockstro in A Treatise on the Flute. In 1871 Briccialdi was appointed as a professor at the Conservatoire in Florence. Having been introduced to the newly constructed cylindrical flute by Theobald Böhm in 1847, he added some minor further modifications of his own. His Bb thumb key was a useful addition to the original Böhm system subsequently known in the history of flute making as the ‘Biccialdi thumb key’. As a composer, apart from a single opera he mainly wrote pieces for the flute in the fashion of the time: arrangements, sets of variations and virtuoso showpieces a large number of which were published by Schott. In the original publication of Allegro alla Spagnuola op. 69 bars 23 to 41 were omitted from the score and only printed in the accompanying flute part. For this new edition the missing piano accompaniment has been reconstructed using the material available. Plate no. 12098 / published in 1853.

Flute, piano - Beginning-Intermediate - SKU: M0.98260MEB Composed by Mizzy Mccaskill. Flute, Fife and Oboe, World. Scottish. E-book and online audio. Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music #98260MEB. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music (M0.98260MEB). ISBN 9781619117013. 8.75x11.75 inches.A growing number of folk players have adopted the silver flute as a viable alternative to the wooden simple-system flute. Mel Bay's Scottish Flute Collection is written for the classical flutist who wishes to concretize traditional Scottish music. The collection includes jigs, reels, into sets to provide length and diversity in the performance setting. Simple ceili-style piano arrangements highlight the flute and encourage the practice of ornamenting in a traditional style. Both an ornamented and unornamented version of each tune is included in the flute score along with guitar chords. This flexibility makes the collection useful for many purposes: as concert/recital programming,as a folk music resource book, as works for the study and practice of traditional ornamentation and as etudes for the developing flutist. Flutists wishing to perform traditional Scottish music will find this collection a must for the repertoire. An accompaniment online audio guides the player through the performance of traditional ornaments in the first set. Players hear the performance of notated ornaments such as the cut, long roll and short roll and learn to apply and aurally interpret the remaining ornamented sets provided in the book. A play-along ceili-style piano accompaniment track is included for all pieces in the book. A great way to enjoy Scottish tunes and learn traditional performance practice at the same time! Includes access to online audio.

(c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. Op. 33. 10 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53378. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53378). English • German.Theobald Böhm was principal flautist at the royal Isartor theatre from 1816, appointed as a member of the court orchestra in his native city Munich two years later and promoted to principal flautist there from 1830. Concert tours to several European cities established his reputation as one of the leading flute virtuosos of his time. In 1828 Böhm opened a flute manufacturing workshop and revolutionised the construction of the flute with two features: the conical ring-key flute of 1832 introduced the key system still in use today, while the acoustic refinements of the cylindrical bore flute of 1847 have hardly been improved on since then. As a composer Böhm wrote works that show off the best qualities of both flute and flautist. Plate no. 15040 / published in 1857.

Flute,Piano - SKU: A0.1035227 Composed by Giulio Briccialdi. Arranged by James Strauss. Romantic Period. Score and part. 15 pages. James Strauss #5828879. Published by James Strauss (A0.1035227). Giulio Briccialdi was an Italian virtuoso flutist, professor of flute, composer and flute technician and innovator who made significant contributions to the modern-day flute. In particular, he invented the Bb thumb key for the Boehm system flute. The famous folk tune is known as Il Carnevale di Venezia or The Carnival of Venice has been the subject of many different arrangements and transcriptions, but none more virtuosic than Giulio Briccialdi's version for flute and piano. He did the first set of Variations in f major op.78 very famous, but he did a second Canavale de Venezia in 1880 in e major, much more interesting, this piece is a real technical workout, and is best suited to advanced players!

Flute,Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.549486 Composed by Felix Mendelssohn (1809 –1847). Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 20 pages. Jmsgu3 #3500637. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549486). CONCERT FLUTE & PIANO - Score: 11 pages, solo part: 3 pages, piano part: 5 pages. Duration: 4:20. This is a popular recital piece that would work well also in church or school programs. Mendelssohn Background Felix Mendelssohn (1809 –1847) was, by all means, a German mastermind composer, musician, and orchestra conductor of the Romantic period. Consequently, Mendelssohn composed in the usual forms of the time - symphonies, concertos, oratorios, piano music, and chamber music. To summarize, his most famous works include his music for A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Italian Symphony, the Scottish Symphony, The Hebrides Overture, his later Concerto for Violin & Orchestra, and his Octet for Strings. His most well-known piano pieces, by and large, are the Songs Without Words. Artistic Standing  Musical tastes change from time to time. Moreover, just such a change occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This plus rampant antisemitism brought a corresponding amount of undue criticism. Fortunately, however, his artistic inventiveness has indeed been critically re-evaluated. As a result, Mendelssohn is once again among the most prevalent composers of the Romantic era. Early Family Life Mendelssohn was, in fact, born into a prominent Jewish family. His grandfather was, notably, the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn. Felix was, in fact, raised without religion. At the age of seven, he was suddenly baptized as a Reformed Christian. He was, moreover, a child musical prodigy. Nevertheless, his parents did not attempt to exploit his talent. Early Adulthood Mendelssohn was, in general, successful in Germany. He conducted, in particular, a revival of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, specifically with his presentation of the St Matthew Passion in 1829. Felix was truly in demand throughout Europe as a composer, conductor, and soloist. For example, he visited Britain ten times. There, he premiered, namely, many of his significant works. His taste in music was. To be sure, inventive and well-crafted yet markedly conservative. This conservatism separated him by all means from more audacious musical colleagues like Liszt, Wagner, and Berlioz. Mendelssohn founded the Leipzig Conservatoire which, to clarify, became a defender of this conservative viewpoint. Mature Adulthood Schumann notably wrote that Mendelssohn was the Mozart of the nineteenth century, the most brilliant musician, the one who most clearly sees through the contradictions of the age and for the first time reconciles them. This observation points to a couple of features in particular that illustrate Mendelssohn's works and his artistic procedure. Musical Features In the first place, his musical style was fixed in his systematic mastery of the style of preceding masters. This being said, he certainly recognized and even developed early romanticism from the music of Beethoven and Weber. Secondly, it indicates that Mendelssohn sought to strengthen his inherited musical legacy rather than to exchange it with new forms and styles or replace it with exotic orchestration. Consequently, he diverged his contemporaries in the romantic period, such as Wagner, Berlioz, and Liszt. Mendelssohn revered Liszt's virtuosity at the keyboard but found his music rather insubstantial.
