Groban says the song is about about rejuvenation. It is an anthem in the style of You Raise Me Up. Josh Groban's musical style is often placed in the classical category, so it was perfectly natural to take this tune a step further and design it for recitals, seminars, recruiting tours, and for the advanced players in one's studio. Your accompanist will like the way the pizzicato rhythmic figures in the string section have been fleshed out with notes on strong beats to help make the rhythm fit the hand better.Of course, it would be a great show-piece for social and civic events; its inspiring message would even serve in church-related functions. English • German.Theobald Böhm was principal flautist at the royal Isartor theatre from 1816, appointed as a member of the court orchestra in his native city Munich two years later and promoted to principal flautist there from 1830. Concert tours to several European cities established his reputation as one of the leading flute virtuosos of his time. In 1828 Böhm opened a flute manufacturing workshop and revolutionised the construction of the flute with two features: the conical ring-key flute of 1832 introduced the key system still in use today, while the acoustic refinements of the cylindrical bore flute of 1847 have hardly been improved on since then. As a composer Böhm wrote works that show off the best qualities of both flute and flautist. Plate no. 15040 / published in 1857.

Sonata for Flute No. 1 draws inspiration from various sources:The first movement is loosely inspired by Brahms' Clarinet Sonata in F Minor and the long melodic lines and wide intervalic leaps found in that work. Irish folk music was another influence, and a jig-like section followed by a brief cadenza leads us into a Stravinsky-esque, technical section. After a brief moment of tranquility in the form of a slow jazz passage, the movement ends with a recap of the original thematic material.The second movement of mixes elements reminiscent of Beethoven and the film music of Hollywood Western movies, specifically scores by Ennio Morricone.The last movement is an aggressive tour de force finale which constantly switches between ideas but always ends up coming back to the repeated two quarter-note flutter-tongued motive before coming to a joyous conclusion. .

English • German.The Italian Giulio Briccialdi was taught to play the flute chiefly by his father. His virtuoso career began at an early age and he was appointed as flute teacher to the Count of Syracuse in Sicily. On numerous tours his playing drew enthusiastic responses from audiences and critics alike: ‘The only really good flute-player that I have ever seen’, wrote Rockstro in A Treatise on the Flute. In 1871 Briccialdi was appointed as a professor at the Conservatoire in Florence. Having been introduced to the newly constructed cylindrical flute by Theobald Böhm in 1847, he added some minor further modifications of his own. His Bb thumb key was a useful addition to the original Böhm system subsequently known in the history of flute making as the ‘Biccialdi thumb key’. As a composer, apart from a single opera he mainly wrote pieces for the flute in the fashion of the time: arrangements, sets of variations and virtuoso showpieces a large number of which were published by Schott. In the original publication of Allegro alla Spagnuola op. 69 bars 23 to 41 were omitted from the score and only printed in the accompanying flute part. For this new edition the missing piano accompaniment has been reconstructed using the material available. Plate no. 12098 / published in 1853.

This is largely because it was used as the theme song of the popular 1950s television series Alfred Hitchkok Presents. Gounod wrote the piece in 1872. The piece, originally for piano, describes the story of a marionette who is killed in a duel. In the original score, Gounod included comments in French matching the action in the story to the music: · La Marionnette est cassée!!!
