St. Matthew Blue portrays an unhappy person coping with the COVID 19 pandemic, which started early in the year 2020. Itâ€™s not a blues tune, however, so the word blue is in the title without the s. St. Matthew Blue contains unusual harmonies inspired by J. S. Bachâ€™s opening chorus to the St. Matthew Passion. My rock tune doesn't match the profundity and appeal of Bach's chorus, but the two 16-bar themes of St. Matthew Blue contain some of my favorite harmonic ideas from Bachâ€™s work.
