Mambo de Maya is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for two Clarinets.This duet is based on the fast, traditional Latin style of Mambo that emerged in Cuba in the 1930s. Later, when Mambo and its dance steps spread to Mexico and New York, hugely successful band leaders like Perez Prado and Tito Puente borrowed ideas from Big-Band Jazz and produced the bold and brassy sound we associate with Mambo today.If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The steady Mambo bell rhythm is implied throughout, and following the precise articulation in the score will help convey the style. Melodies are clearly articulated and played with passion. Mambo de Maya has a performance time of around two and a half minutes at full tempo. Published by David McKeown (A0.587524). The Prince of Denmark’s March is better known nowadays as the Trumpet Voluntary and is often used in wedding ceremonies. It was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on thetrumpet stop. Written around 1700, for many years this piece was mistakenly attributed to Henry Purcell. Only recently has it been established that the composer was Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. It is somewhat ironic that this composer of a wedding mainstay was himself a victim of unrequited love. He consequently shot himself in the cathedral graveyard. This full version is arranged as a duet for two Clarinets and the performance time is around two and a half minutes. The clarinet duo J.P Morgan Finances the Panic of 1907 was originally composed in December, 1967, when the composer was 19 years old, and was inspired by Walter Lord's description of the Panic of 1907 in his book The Good Years (1960). The duo was revised in June, 1969.***The two performers may stand next to each other and read from the same music stand, but the musical effects will be enhanced if the performers stand apart, to create a stereophonic effect. This is especially effective in passages where the texture changes from heterophony to unison and back (e.g., mm. 10-12). The distance they stand apart will vary with the width of the performance area (stage) and the size of the auditorium.

Plate 2157, with necessary corrections made to resolve inconsistencies and suspected errors. It is a user-friendly sheet music note that is easier to perform.Furthermore, we have also arranged versions of this composition for Violin and Cello, as well as for two Clarinets. The Clarinet adaptation was chosen because its sound range closely resembles the original instrumentation, and the vibrant tones of the Clarinet align beautifully with the musical ideas of this piece.
