Alto Saxophone,Instrumental Duet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1074056 Composed by Josquin des Prez. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Contest,Festival,Instructional,Renaissance,Standards,Wedding. 50 pages. Jmsgu3 #678327. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1074056). Josquin des Prez (c.1450-1521) was a composer of the Renaissance period, widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. His compositions set the standard for polyphonic music and are considered a high point in the history of music. He wrote a wide range of works, including masses, motets, and chansons, and was the first composer to set popular secular tunes as mass movements. His influence can be seen in the works of many later composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and George Frideric Handel.Josquin des Prez was a prolific composer of chamber music and duets during the Renaissance period. He wrote several types of chamber music and duets, including madrigals, chansons, and motets. His compositions are characterized by their intricate counterpoint, as well as their harmonic richness and emotional expressiveness. His works often featured two voices in harmony, and he was known to use imitation and complex canonic techniques to create interesting musical textures. Josquin's chamber music and duets are renowned for their complexity and beauty, and they remain some of the most influential and admired works from the Renaissance period.Josquin Desprez is widely regarded as one of the most influential composers of the Renaissance period. His innovative use of counterpoint and canon helped to revolutionize the musical landscape of the time. Counterpoint is a technique of combining two or more independent melodies in a way that creates harmony and a cohesive musical texture. Josquin was a master of this technique, often combining multiple voices in complex contrapuntal textures. His use of canon, or round, was also highly influential. Canon involves two or more voices repeating the same melody in different registers and often with different rhythms. Josquin wrote canons in various styles and forms, including the popular “circular canon†and the more complex “strict canon.†He was also an early adopter of the “inverted canon†form, in which the same melody is repeated but in an inverted form. Josquin’s use of counterpoint and canon had a lasting impact on the development of Western music and helped to establish the foundation for many of the musical forms and techniques still used today.Contents: I. Baritone Saxophone Duet Baritone Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1083001 Composed by Giuseppe Sammartini (1695-1750). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Classical,Contest,Festival,Standards,Wedding. 2 scores. 18 pages. Jmsgu3 #687213. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1083001). Sammartini Op. 1 No. 1 Sonata. Score: 10 pages. Duration: 8:43 I. Andante II. Allegro III. AllegroGiuseppe Sammartini was an Italian composer, oboist, and organist who lived during the Baroque era. He is credited with helping to establish the form of the modern concerto grosso, which would become an important part of the development of classical chamber music. Sammartini wrote many solo and chamber pieces, including sonatas, trios, and concertos. His style is considered to be very graceful and expressive, and his works often contain virtuosic passages.Sammartini's influence on the history of classical chamber music is significant. His compositions demonstrate the shift from the Baroque to the Classical style, and his works served as a bridge between the two periods. His chamber music was often praised by his contemporaries, and he was one of the first composers to use a modern concerto grosso form. Sammartini's influence is also evident in the works of later composers such as Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven. His legacy can be seen in the music of many contemporary classical chamber music ensembles.

Alto Saxophone Duet Alto Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1152452 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Classical,Instructional,March,Opera,Romantic Period. 2 scores. 7 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #752678. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1152452). This arrangement adapted for alto sax duo was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, that is, inspiring and significant to the already known choral symphony by Beethoven, indicated to be performed by young music students, who want to enter the symphonic music, moreover, it can also be used by professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change in key, so that it is comfortable for all instruments in the formation, thus maintaining the essence of the striking melody, as well as using it for ensemble practice among musicians of different traditions. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony Op. 125 incorporates part of the poem An die Freude (To Joy), a hymn written by Friedrich Schiller, with the text sung by soloists and a choir in its last movement. It was the first example of a major composer using the human voice as prominently as the instruments in a symphony, thus creating a far-reaching work that set the tone for the symphonic form that was to be adopted by Romantic composers. This is the last complete symphony composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. The choral symphony, better known as the Ninth Symphony or The Ninth, is one of the best known works in the Western repertoire, considered both an icon and predecessor of Romantic music, and one of Beethoven's great masterpieces, where it was first performed on May 7, 1824, the same year it was completed, at the Kärntnertortheater in Vienna, Austria. The conductor was Michael Umlauf, the theater's music director, and Beethoven - dissuaded from conducting by the advanced stage of his deafness - was given a special place on the stage next to the conductor. It was later rearranged by Herbert von Karajan to become the anthem of the European Union in 1972, the national anthem of Rhodesia from 1974 until 1979, Rise, O Voices of Rhodesia, used the tune Ode to Joy..

Tenor Saxophone Duet Tenor Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1151946 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Christmas,Classical,Instructional,March,Romantic Period. Score. 8 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #752153. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1151946). This arrangement adapted for tenor saxophone duo was designed to make its listeners weep with emotion, because the adaptation preserves the original essence of the work, keeping its integrity faithful to what Beethoven wanted to transmit, with only a slight change in tone and addition of harmonic resources in the structure of the arrangement. Even though it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion, being intended for beginner students who want to immerse themselves in the universe of romantic music, and nothing better than starting with the transitional composer of this period, which also does not prevent professional teachers from using it for recitals, academic presentations or didactic material in their classes as an ensemble practice. Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C minor sharp, Op. 27, No. 2, is one of his most popular compositions and was an audience favorite even in his day. Written when Beethoven was 31, the Moonlight Sonata (Mondscheinsonate in German) was composed after he finished some commissioned works, but there is no evidence that he was hired to write this work. It did not receive its nickname until 1832, five years after Beethoven's death. It was the critic Ludwig Rellstab who compared the music to a moonlighting on Lake Lucerne. This comparison was adopted as a nickname for the work. Called Quasi una fantasia by the author - like its companion Op. 27, No. 1 - the piece was completed in 1801 and dedicated the following year to one of the composer's pupils. Beethoven chose to open the sonata with a slow, hypnotic arpeggio movement, the best known of the entire work. The dotted rhythm of its minimal melody evokes the tradition of 'Trauermusik' (funeral music).

Baritone Saxophone,Instrumental Duet,Tenor Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1151950 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Christmas,Classical,Instructional,March,Romantic Period. 8 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #752157. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1151950). This arrangement adapted for low sax duo was designed to make its listeners weep with emotion, because the adaptation preserves the original essence of the work, keeping its integrity faithful to what Beethoven wanted to transmit, with only a slight change in tone and addition of harmonic resources in the structure of the arrangement.

Alto Saxophone Duet Alto Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1081920 Composed by Giuseppe Sammartini (1695-1750). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Classical,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. 2 scores. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #686053. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1081920). Sammartini Op. 1 No. 2 Sonata. Score: 6 pages. Duration: 8:13 I. Andante II. Allegro III. Minuet/GraziosoGiuseppe Sammartini's Sonatas Op. 1 was composed in the early 18th century. Sammartini, an Italian composer, was known for his instrumental works, particularly for the flute, recorder, and oboe. He dedicated his 12 sonatas Op. 1 to Frederick, indicating his attachment to the family he worked for. Most of Sammartini's chamber music was regularly performed and republished during his lifetime, highlighting the significance of his works in the Baroque era. The historical context of these sonatas is rooted in the Baroque period, during which the sonata form and chamber music flourished.Giovanni Battista Sammartini is considered a formative influence on the preclassical symphony and the development of the Classical style. His approach to symphonic composition was unique, drawing influence from the trio sonata and deviating from the Italian overture model. His symphonies were driven by rhythm and more precise forms, reflecting a mixture of Baroque and Preclassical forms and anticipating the direction of classical music, such as the Sturm und Drang style. He composed around 70 symphonies and is praised for his innovations in the development of the symphony, which have contributed to the development of the Classical style.

Alto Saxophone Duet Alto Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.612787 Composed by Jean Baptiste Loeillet of Ghent (1688 – 1720). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Contest,Festival,Standards,Traditional,Wedding. 2 scores. 59 pages. Jmsgu3 #221981. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.612787). John Baptist Loeillet, a Flemish Baroque composer, wrote six sonatas for flute and basso continuo in his Op. 5 No. 2. This work is widely considered to be some of his most significant compositions, and they are still performed today. The sonatas are divided into three movements each, with two slow movements and one faster one. The flute part is very demanding, as Loeillet often wrote in the high register, and the accompanying basso continuo part provides a solid foundation for the piece. The music has an emotional intensity that was characteristic of the Baroque era, and it features various ornamentations, like trills and mordents. The influence of Corelli can be heard in the contrapuntal textures, and the melodic lines are often based on the scales and modes of the period.Loeillet's Op. 5 No. 2 is a beautiful and captivating work, and its timelessness is a testament to its quality. It has been transcribed and adapted for other instruments, and it remains a popular choice for many classical musicians.Contents:Sonata No. 1 Duration: 9:45 Score: 8 pages 1. Vivace 2.
