The many cross rhythms will provide a rhythmic challenge and there is little time to catch breath; following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. It has become one of the most instantly recognisable of Mozart’s melodies. It derives its title from the Turkish style marching bands that were fashionable in Vienna at the time. This version is arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Alto Saxophone. Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, with both parts enjoying melodic interest. The duet format gives solo instrumentalists an opportunity to play music written for piano. The overall performance time is around three and a half minutes. This duet is of the famous Allegro first movement. However, even though this is one of Mozart’s best known and best loved melodies, more than thirty years passed after his death before it was first published in 1827. This version is arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Alto Saxophone.
