The Easter Egg Rock is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for two Violas.
The Easter Egg Rock is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. Modern Rock music has its origins in Rock?n?Roll, with the first use of the word in 1951 by an Ohio DJ. The first big hit was Bill Haley?s \"Rock Around the Clock\"in 1955, but other artists such as Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bo Diddley, Gene Vincent and Little Richard all have strong claims to being the first Rock?n?Roll artist.

Published by David McKeown (A0.1328745). Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree was written in 1958 by Johnny Marks and was a big hit for 13 year old Brenda Lee. It remains the biggest hit of her career with 25 million sales and a seasonal return to the charts every year. This version is faithful to the swinging rock’n’roll style of the original and includes a simple transcription of Boots Randolph’s famous sax solo. It is arranged as a duet for two Violas. Musicians at an early intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal Christmas performances. There are some simple syncopated swing rhythms and a few accidentals accidentals. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes.
