It explores the existential concept of a dying sun, in relation to our own human mortality. Though it appears to be brief in length, the hauntingly slow tempo creates an aura of sound that lasts well over five minutes. This piece focuses on sound itself, often seeming static, with only a brief moment of climax before ending in soft drone. The Sun Also Dies was composed in 2012 for Forecast Music, a North Carolina-based contemporary ensemble.
