This string duet arrangement for violin and viola adheres to Chopin's melodic line. The viola provides a gentle rocking eighth-note accompaniment to the violin melody, and the final extended cadence has just a hint of 'Blues'. The performance duration is two and a half minutes and the full score has two individual parts attached. After flooding had damaged the church organ in Oberdorf, Austria, Mohr asked local schoolmaster, Gruber, to write a Christmas melody to be accompanied by guitar. Silent Night was the result.
