This is a cool, relaxed, swaying in the breeze four verse arrangement of a Caribbean favorite in the key of D. The stopped off-beats throughout the piece sound like the waves gently lapping against a boat. The melody is equally divided between parts. Dynamics are clearly marked. Â

Johann Strauss, Jr. used themes from his operetta, Indigo and the Forty Thieves,to create this wonderful orchestra piece. The mysterious Arabian introduction is followed by three Waltzes. Waltz II is the most famous melody. The pedal and lever harp duet versions are not the same. They differ in the pedal/lever markings, harmony notes and which harp is playing the melody note. The dynamics and Waltz sections are clearly marked. The score includes a page of performance information. The Harp Ensemble would perform for 2 hours each evening as guests arrived at the UW-Eau Claire’s annual Viennese Ball in the student center (1998-2016). The invitation was extended because Eduard Strauss, the youngest Strauss, was a harpist. He conducted his own orchestra from his harp and toured the United States.

When that was completed, it was then simplified to form the B Version. The B Version has thinner lines and allows more time for placing the fingers. In the key of G, this arrangement has a driving beat - building from a thin melody to a thick, energetic high point and then melting back down as the sounds move off into the distant. The invitation was extended because Eduard Strauss, the youngest Strauss, was a harpist. He conducted his own orchestra from his harp and toured the United States.

This is a cool, relaxed, swaying in the breeze four verse arrangement ofa Caribbean favorite in the key of D. The stopped off-beats throughout thepiece sound like the waves gently lapping against a boat. The melody is equallydivided between parts. Dynamics are clearly marked.
