The motivation behind the ?layered solos ensemble effect? came from very successful learning and performing with the BegEnz harp books series.The idea is that the student harpist firstly learns a solo at level one. Then there are two versions of the solo, increasing in difficulty, and some parts which are accompaniment or harmonisation when they are played together. Harp one fits onto a fully levered 26 string harp (lowest string is C below middle C) and harps 2 and 3 fit onto 34 string harps.The first solo is always just a clear tune and single note accompaniment arrangement, so by the time they have successfully learnt this, and probably played it in the group, they know exactly how the piece sounds, and the structure of the arrangement. As they improve they can play a more challenging version, and/or stick to the easier part if playing in a group feels trickier. It?s all about having the confidence to take the next step up!The best thing about layered arrangements is that there is a good chunk of each version that can be used as a solo so you are practicing something that you can play without needing other harps to fill out the parts, but when you bring it all together you are still practicing very important ensemble skills ? listening to others, staying in time, being in tune, and being adaptive as a musician in a group.

This All-American song in praise of baseball, ?Take Me Out to the Ball Game,? is beloved by girls and boys, men and women, old and young. This easy-to-play arrangement is for two to five lever OR pedal harps. The set contains Score, Harp 1, Harp 2-3, and Harp 4-5. Harp 1 has the melody, and has five lever changes (only F sharp lever is needed). The Harp 2-3 part can be played by one person, or split into two even easier parts (treble clef / bass clef). The Harp 4-5 part is optional and can also be played by one person or split into two even easier parts. Bennett says: ?My student ensemble plays this at a senior assisted-living home every summer, and the audience loves to sing along. We like to wear our baseball caps when we play it!?

Written during the second occurrence of lock down in Auckland, New Zealand, and in appreciation of the small wonders around us, \"Ten Duets for Lever Harp\" is a series of independent short pieces ? each between 1 and 2 minutes in duration, each with its own unique mood.

Little snippets of lock down life?. The Comfy Couch, The Bumblebee, Dancing in the Gentle Breeze? in a range of genres, with a few lever changes, and technical challenges, aimed at the intermediate harpist. These pieces also explore some different harp techniques such as glissandos, xylophonics, harp percussion, and harmonics effects.

The score has both parts written in an easy to see format.

Ten Carols for Two Harps - this is particularly aimed at the student and teacher harpist working together, and sometimes working online together. Harp 1 is the easier part, and Harp 2 is at an intermediate level - perfect to use with a student and teacher in the build up to Christmas. Generally the students starts each piece by playing the main tune, but in most arrangements, the student switches over and accompanies or harmonises the tune with Harp 2. The book contains a variety of keys, time signatures, a couple of lever changes.

This is a new age style reflection on this carol rather than a more literal arrangement. Key of C with no lever or pedal changes. Harp 1 part has LH harmonics. It's a crowd pleaser!

This download includes the score, the Harp 1 part and the Harp 2 part. My harp duets are consistent in their configuration. Harp I part is the most difficult, and can be played on lever or pedal harp. Harp II part is generally easier, and lap harp friendly. So this duet is suitable for student/teacher duet practice, and for almost any combination of two harp players. Or even an ensemble with several playing each part.
