Mr Simrock suggested changing the title to Kaiser-Waltzer to please the two emperors. However, when it was published, only the Austrian Imperial crown was emblazoned on the title page! This stunning arrangement has both a pedal harp and lever harp version that is intended to be performed together. They only differ in the pedal/lever markings and an occasional harmony note. The dynamics are clearly marked.

He sent it from Canada to his Mother in Ireland. In 1868, American Charles Converse, an attorney and composer of hymns, came across Scriven’s poem and set the words to music, publishing it in a hymnal. Set in the key of F, the melody is shared equally between parts. Each part is of equal difficulty, although Harp II makes F# in each verse. Dynamics are clearly marked

The words of this hymn that we know today first appeared in 1758 in a collection of poetry used in a church meeting in Cambridge, UK. The folk melody, named Hallelujah or Good Shepherd, appeared in 1813 in A Repository of Sacred Music, Part Second published by John Wyeth in Pennsylvania. Wyeth was a compiler of music for the purpose of publishing, not a musician. The tune of the hymn is called Nettleton. Asahel Nettleton was an evangelist from Connecticut who worked in New England. There is no indication that he wrote any music. The first appearance of this melody with the Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing lyrics was published by Darius Jones in 1852. Charles Ives used this folk melody in two of his compositions: First String Quartet and the song The Innate.This duet is in the key of D. The melody is divided evenly between parts. Dynamics are clearly marked.
