One of the best-known and most-loved songs by British alternative rock band The Cure, "Just Like Heaven" was the band's first American hit single, and it reached the top 40 on the Billboard charts. The band's singer wrote this upbeat and energetic love song in honor of his future wife, making it a perfect choice for weddings, receptions, and cocktail hours, along with pop concerts, solo & ensemble contests, and any other occasion that you need to make your audience smile! This arrangement for violin and cello duet maintains the exciting builds, fun melodies, and most importantly the pure joy of the original, and it will be just as much fun to play as it is to listen to! In terms of melodic and technical difficulty, this chart is intermediate level, but I'm listing it as advanced-intermediate due to a number of interesting tied and syncopated rhythms. Have fun! :)

Tango d?Elinora is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Violin and one Cello.

This duet is written in the style of early twentieth century Tango music. Tango first appeared as in the late nineteenth century in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but it wasn?t long before the dance craze spread to North America and Europe. Performers like Carlos Gardel were the international superstars of their day. More recently the Nuevo Tango of Astor Piazzolla and others has pushed the boundaries and ensured that Tango is still a vibrant art form today.

If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. Rhythms should be lightly articulated with the first beat in the bar always strong; the melody should always flow and following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. NOTE: While some of these works can easily be sightread, there are several that are meant to sound much fuller than your average 2-line transcription so they may be a bit more difficult with added double stops, etc. Much work was put into these to give both players great parts (not just a bass line in the cello part, etc).
