It starts off 'straight' (A), alternating between primarily 3/4 and 4/4, then moves into a cool 'swing' (B), followed by a repeat of 'A' and 'B' with some interesting variations, then one more repeat of the 'A' section before culminating in a captivating coda. Rhythmically, a little tricky, but the metre changes feel quite natural. Great piece foir solo/ensemble, recital, concert. Intermediate.Anthony Giamanco is a member of ASCAP. The arrangements for guitar solo were written in two-part counterpoint and followed the strophic form of the folk songs involved. The melodic transcriptions of the folk melodies were not based in any particular performance, also avoiding the elaborate in many cases instrumental introductions associated with these songs. Thus, only the vocal melodies in a general recognizable version were presented. This new presentation for instrumental duets will stay with this generalised melodic version (without exploiting the instrumental introductions), but the form from strophic will become ternary (ABA). The Bridal March was written by Richard Wagner in 1850, scored for orchestra and chorus, and opening the third act of his opera, Lohingren. It is best known in the English-speaking world as Here Comes the Bride. Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, and its popularity has endured ever since. This version is arranged as a duet for two Violin and Cello.Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, especially at weddings.
