Published by Neal Fitzpatrick Editions (A0.955413). This is Impromptu No.2 For Marimba From Twenty Impromptus For Marimba by Neal Fitzpatrick. This set of music for Marimba is based my Twenty Etudes For Guitar. Both being polyphonic instruments the guitar and the marimba are certainly distant cousins so I believe the essence of works for one instrument can be expressed on the other, in either direction. While these pieces may in fact work as etudes for marimba I have purposefully renamed them. Whether or not they work as etudes I will leave up to each individual percussionist and teacher the extent of their didactic usefulness. Ultimately though all music can be used for study and my wish is these pieces can be used for study and performance. They are relatively brief and ideally played in sets, the number and selections being determined by the performer. Guitarist Neal Fitzpatrick has a B.M. from the Hartt School where he studied with Alan Spriestersbach and his M.M. from The Yale School of Music where he studied with Benjamin Verdery. He also studied extensively with Sharon Isbin and Sal Salvador. Based in Connecticut, he is active as a soloist and in the chamber music scene. This intense mallet solo uses mixed meter to evoke an exciting and slightly chaotic of the climax of a town celebration. Each section embodies a different group of people celebrating and dancing in their own unique style, as if the audience were in the center of the dance looking around at the variety of cultures contained in the festival. Moonlight Festival Dances is an original piece that encompasses a variety of emotions and tones and requires the player to swiftly change between time signatures, styles and keys.Suitable for 3-octave marimba, xylophone or vibes; 2-mallets, unaccompanied.---------------------------Adam Lenhart (b. 2002) is a University of Michigan student of music theory, composition, voice and organ from Ottawa Lake, Michigan. As a theorist, his areas of study vary widely, including 18th century counterpoint, the early American Sacred Harp tradition and impressionism. As a composer, his music draws inspiration from nature, mathematics and poetry. In 2020 he was awarded the Michigan Music Education Association’s Young Composers of Michigan award, as well as first prize in the University of Toledo Young Composers competition. Lenhart has also participated in numerous ensembles across Michigan, including the MYAF All-State Choir, Tecumseh Pops Orchestra, University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club and the SMTD University Choir. He thoroughly enjoys collaboration with other composers, performers, poets and visual artists. Some of his recent projects include collaborations with individuals from the University of Michigan Chamber Music, History, and Poetry departments.

Christmas Medley for Marimba Trio . . . . . . . . . . . . . . arr. Dan HeslinkThis medley combines three of the most favored Carols celebrating the miracle of Christ’s birth. Angels We Have Heard On High encapsulates the birth of Jesus Christ as narrated in the Gospel of Luke. The flowing second part of this carol portrays the shepherds’ wonder as they encounter a multitude of angels singing and praising. The spiritual renewal brought about by the birth of the Christ child is given in What Child Is This? Sung to the tune of the traditional English song Greensleeves, its haunting quality has made it one of the most popular of Christmas carols. And focusing on the immediacy of the Child’s entrance into the world, Away in a Manger has become the most loved of all American Christmas carols. The medley opens with an eight-measure introduction that immediately establishes the Christmas spirit, and then moves on to Angels We Have Heard on High. The binary form of this section should suggest to the performers two contrasting manners of execution, one involving brisk, rhythmic strokes and the other more legato in nature. At the second indicated rehearsal number What Child Is This? introduces a new key and new meter for new melodic content. The score shapes these phrases with dynamic changes, which should be observed with care. The dynamic arches and divided eighth note passages will enhance the impetus of a rolling ternary meter The medley’s final selection, Away in a Manger, begins at measure sixty-seven. A light and delicate approach to execution should create an innocent, child-like characterization. The final cadence of this selection is expanded to a bolder conclusion. Players and conductor may wish to experiment with a dead stroke on the last soft note, to artistically suggest that the music may be experienced for a moment even after it is concluded. This medley will be especially effective programmed on a winter holiday concert. Duration is 2:21. Hello everyone.. after a few weeks, the video of my project is finished, which involves around 25 people from different parts of the world, together now for just 1 objective.. peace in the world, not war, and peace in Ukraine.🇺🇦🙠I would first like to thank Kana Omori , for being the first to accept the invitation to play in my project and for being the full support in this project, I would also like to thank all the musicians, speakers participants.. really... it was not easy to edit everything.. even more so because I let each guest perform their own free performance (I'm glad there wasn't much difference in tempo) I left this part free because I wanted to express that even though we are different from each other, being in different countries, different instruments, religion, ethnicity, sexuality.. we are all the same when we play the same music... there is nothing more important at this moment than doing what we love, which is playing music and we can bring peace, love and affection to those who watch us playing... this is gratifying.
