Five four-mallet solos from my early work as a composer. They each depict an aspect or event of the campus of Ohio Northern University that happened as a freshman there. Most of these ideas were written when I was in high school, but they got some additional work as I went through my freshman year. These are not my best work, but they are good teaching tools that I have used a couple of times for short lessons on certain techniques for four-mallet marimba playing. Sorry. There are no sound files as of now. The sound files were corrupted somewhere between the three computers they've been on over the past 6 years.

In my studies I found there are a sad amount of compositions for only 4.3 octave marimba. With access to only a 4.3 octave marimba myself, I found it harder to find music to play than to actually learn it. As a composer I want to make a huge contribution to the extremely limited repertoire we have as marimbists. My project of 24 preludes for 4.3 octave marimba is only the very beginning of what I hope to accomplish as a composer. I hope you enjoy!

The sounds of water reminds the greatness of the nature as well as our own existence. This music is based on his imagination over the various forms of water. This was originally composed for string ensemble with a pipe organ.

It is said that when an earthquake occurs, trees grow well.Though there is no evidence, the vibration of the earthquake seems to stir and condition the soil.Even through unprecedented disasters when the earth is cracked and the city is burnt, and even when people suffer from helplessness and anger, the trees (including apricot and blackberry branches) grow unaffectedly.Inger Christensen, the author of the poetry collection 'Alphabet', through her perceptive and lyrical senses, expressed that human beings are not managers of nature.On a lonely night, all we hear is the sound of crawling roots underneath the earth and rhythmic breathing of branches and leaves.....Not a few people consider classical music as something you listen to quietly while frowning. Tapping your feet to the rhythm is simply not acceptable. But I’ve always thought that classical music could be danceable - something that DJs can play at a club and you can move your body to.≪Tree dance≫, as the title suggests, is a musical piece featuring marimba and piano expressing the way trees dance in the wind. The music is almost like the classical version of craftwork, combining four-on-the-floor beats of techno music with the sharp sounds of modern music and organic poetry.I hope that the colorful musical notes on the score will be given life to and grow in this concert hall, creating a feast of dancing trees. This arrangement has been performed at concerts and weddings by it's creator, Nick Baron, in his own marimba duo, and it is now here on sale for the first time.Seal's masterpiece is poignant, elegant and soulful; these characteristics shared by the marimba with its soft attack and warm resonance make it a perfect fit.The arrangement follows the form of Seal's original but there is creativity in the marimba writing; for example the way a groove is often created between the ostinato rhythms of the two marimbas to suggest the presence of a rhythm section. Both parts are for four mallets and it is written in the key of C#. This arrangement would be an excellent addition to a conservatoire-level concert programme. Requirements: two players, four mallets each, two 4.3 octave marimbas.

Hello everyone.. after a few weeks, the video of my project is finished, which involves around 25 people from different parts of the world, together now for just 1 objective.. peace in the world, not war, and peace in Ukraine.🇺🇦🙠I would first like to thank Kana Omori , for being the first to accept the invitation to play in my project and for being the full support in this project, I would also like to thank all the musicians, speakers participants.. really... it was not easy to edit everything.. even more so because I let each guest perform their own free performance (I'm glad there wasn't much difference in tempo) I left this part free because I wanted to express that even though we are different from each other, being in different countries, different instruments, religion, ethnicity, sexuality.. we are all the same when we play the same music... there is nothing more important at this moment than doing what we love, which is playing music and we can bring peace, love and affection to those who watch us playing... this is gratifying.

I sent a copy of the two-piano version to Nancy Zeltsman who, with Janis Potter, recently created the marimba duo, Madam Rubio. They thought some of the pieces could translate very well as pieces for marimba duo. I have to give complete credit to Nancy's ingenuity and creativity for this version. The transcription, arrangement and order of Eight Tarot Cards for Madam Rubio! are completely hers. [The numbering of the movements may look bizarre, but it is the original Tarot numbering.] I. Il Saltimbanco ... The Mountebank shuffles his cards and does a samba. XVI. La Torre ... The Tower topples and crashes onto the populace gathered below. II. La Papessa ... The High Priestess concocts a magic potion. XXI. Il Mondo ... The World would be a happier place if we all dance together. XIII. La Morte ... Death lurks around the corner. X. La Ruota della Fortuna ... Fortunes rise and fall unpredictably. III. L'Imperatrice ... The Empress dances all night. XIX. Il Sole ... Sunshine, margaritas and salsa cubana. And if an encore is requested ... XVII. La Stella ... Twinkle, twinkle, little star ... [Marimba I requires a 4.5 octave (low E) instrument and Marimba II requires a 5-octave (low C) instrument.]
