It starts off 'straight' (A), alternating between primarily 3/4 and 4/4, then moves into a cool 'swing' (B), followed by a repeat of 'A' and 'B' with some interesting variations, then one more repeat of the 'A' section before culminating in a captivating coda. Rhythmically, a little tricky, but the metre changes feel quite natural. Great piece foir solo/ensemble, recital, concert. Intermediate.Anthony Giamanco is a member of ASCAP. This easy arrangement for trumpet and Trombone duet was written to be uncomplicated to perform and understand the structure of the piece. It can be freely played by beginning students, because of the ease imposed on the piece; however, this does not prevent it from being played by professionals and music teachers. It is also ideal for academic recitals, student method and ceremonies that are arranged in the same way as the piece contains. The original piece is part of Johann Sebastian Bach's Suite No. 3 for orchestra, in D Major, BWV 1068, written for Prince Leopold of Anhalt. The so-called Air on the G String dates from one of these latter employments. In the service of the Prince of Cöthen, Bach composed not only the famous Brandenburg Concertos, but also several orchestral suites, from the third of which comes the Air on the G String. This curious title derives from a later arrangement of this piece for violin solo, in which the melody is played entirely on the lower, higher string of the instrument.

This version is arranged as a duet for one Trumpet and one Trombone.The words and music of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot are credited to Wallis Willis, a Native American freedman from Oklahoma. A local minister transcribed the song in 1865 and within a few years it became a firm gospel favourite. In recent times Swing Low, Sweet Chariot has been adopted by the Civil Rights movement on one hand, and the England rugby team on the other. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot is simply arranged in keys and range best suited to the instruments. The hymn is played three and a half times, once as a ballad, then twice in a slow rock style, before returning to the ballad at the end.
