Arte Nova Music Lab #3686381. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742435). Mauro Giuseppe Sergio Pantaleo Giuliani (27 July 1781 – 8 May 1829) was an Italian guitarist, cellist, singer, andcomposer. He was a leading guitar virtuoso of the early 19th century. Although born in Bisceglie, Giuliani's center of study was in Barletta where he moved with his brother Nicola in the first years of his life. His first instrumental training was on the cello-an instrument which he never completely abandoned-and he probably also studied the violin. Subsequently, he devoted himself to the guitar, becoming a very skilled performer on it in a short time. The names of his teachers are unknown, and we cannot be sure of his exact movements in Italy. Panama Paseo no.1 is a two-step calypso dance recorded in 1914 by Belasco's Band - the Trinidadian dance orchestra led by pianist Lionel Lanky Belasco.Belasco was the foremost Trinidadian musician and composer of his era, and is lauded in Venezuela as the man who introduced jazz to the country. He emigrated to the US in 1915 and was one of the most prolific West Indian recording artists of the early 20th Century, accompanying the first Calypso singers in the late 1920s and 30s.Originally performed on violins, cello, flute, clarinet, piano and a variety of strumming instruments (guitar, mandolin, cuatro and braga).Arranged for violin and guitar (or other strumming instruments).Part of Paseos and Waltzes of Trinidad Vol.1 which can be purchased complete for $29.99 and included 12 paseos and waltzes as recorded by Lovey's Band and Lionel Belasco's Orchestra from 1912-1918.Arrangements for larger ensembles (strings and wind) are available on request.
