This was the first recording of calypso music, pre-dating the first jazz record by five years. Originally performed on violins, clarinet, flute, cello and a number of strumming instruments (guitar, mandolin, Venezuelan cuatro and Portuguese braga). This arrangement distills the lively, improvised nature into an arrangement for intermediate violin with chords and suggested strumming patterns (for guitar, ukelele, mandolin or any other plucked instruments). Part of Paseos and Waltzes of Trinidad Vol.1. which can be purchased for $29.99 as complete set of 12 paseos and waltzes, as recorded by Lovey's Band and Lionel Belasco's Orchestra 1912-1918.Arrangements for larger ensembles (strings and woodwind), are also available.

Panama Paseo no.1 is a two-step calypso dance recorded in 1914 by Belasco's Band - the Trinidadian dance orchestra led by pianist Lionel Lanky Belasco.Belasco was the foremost Trinidadian musician and composer of his era, and is lauded in Venezuela as the man who introduced jazz to the country. He emigrated to the US in 1915 and was one of the most prolific West Indian recording artists of the early 20th Century, accompanying the first Calypso singers in the late 1920s and 30s.Originally performed on violins, cello, flute, clarinet, piano and a variety of strumming instruments (guitar, mandolin, cuatro and braga).Arranged for violin and guitar (or other strumming instruments).Part of Paseos and Waltzes of Trinidad Vol.1 which can be purchased complete for $29.99 and included 12 paseos and waltzes as recorded by Lovey's Band and Lionel Belasco's Orchestra from 1912-1918.Arrangements for larger ensembles (strings and wind) are available on request.
