Our first session was for 9:00 p.m., and I was all set to record. At 9:30 some musicians were still arriving. After about an hour, we had finished one song. The sound was wonderful, and I was very happy. At this point, I was informed that the orchestra has to have a 15 minute break. The musicians vanished to a local café for some wine. About 45 minutes later, they began arriving back in the studio. We got one more song recorded before the contractor stood up and, in perfect English, said, 'Overtime'.

Pérez Prado's recording of the song as an instrumental with his orchestra featuring trumpeter Billy Regis, whose trumpet sound would slide down and up before the melody would resume, was the most popular version in 1955, reaching number one for 10 weeks on the Billboard chart. It became a gold record.

'Rising Sun' is set in a Japanese Women's P.O.W. camp at the end of the Second World War. In this song Abby, the main protagonist, has been alienated from the girls in her dorm room after she has been found with one of the prison guards. Unknown to the girls of the dormitory Abby and the un-named guard had a relationship when she first arrived in Singapore long before the war had started. She sings of her longing and her anger at what should be her life to make decisions. It is a powerful ballad for female voice. The MP3 is a demo with the composer's voice but is the key for the female voice as per the sheet music. The song is taken from the Tim Spencer Songbook.
