Jubilee of Thanks was commissioned for the Grenada National Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. Although heavily based on traditional coronation music it is generic enough to be suitable for any service of Thanksgiving or Celebration.Here is the description found inside the cover of the conductor's score:In order to gain inspiration and insight into this commission I researched British Coronations past and present. One of the oldest traditions is the use of Handel's oratorio Zadok the Priest. This 144-page composition was written for the coronation of King George II in 1727 and has been used at every coronation since. Thus I began my composition with a Handelian style section, borrowing a phrase from Zadok the Priest and developing it into a fanfare opening. Into this section I interjected the traditional cry of Long live the Queen, but set it in the old church Latin.The middle section arranges the hymn Now Thank We All Our God, originally written in 1663. This hymn is regarded all across Europe as the official anthem for services of National Thanksgiving. I created different settings for all three verses. Another tradition of British coronations is the use of Psalms 100 and 120. I have taken just one line from each Psalm and woven it into the hymn as a descant or antiphon.The final section is a Hallelujah Chorus fusing tradition with local flavour by using soca rhythms. In a sly nod to the opening section the very last choral Alleluia is straight from Handel's Messiah.Phil BeamanMarch 2012The choir is in 2 part but much of it unison since it was intended for a massed choir with little rehearsal. Interest comes from the changing styles of each section, 7 key changes, 3 meter changes, and the 2 Trumpets accompanying. A 4 minute easy piece of thanks and celebration.This entry contains 30 pages of Conductors Score, 7 pages Keyboard Part, and 2 pages @ Trumpet Parts. For convenience a separate entry at SO.309227 contains the 10 pages of Choral Parts in a Lead Sheet format with just lyrics and melody of the Choir Parts.

This Virgina Reel style dance originated in Scotland, but It was popular in the US in the mid-1800s and was called a play party or social dance.Setup: longways setVerse 1: The lead partners link hands and sashay down the center of the lines and then back up to their original spots.Verse 2: Partners do a right elbow turn, then a left elbow turn and back to their original spots.Verse 3: The lead partners cast off and lead their lines to the bottom of the set. The lead partners make an arch for the rest of the partners to go under.Verse 4: The first set of partners to go under the arch lead the lines back to the top of the set and they get ready to become the new lead partners for the next round.This a cappella choral arrangement is also available in 2-part, 3-part, and SAB.

This is a collection of blessings set for SATB choir.  An organ may be used to provide a discrete drone for A Harvest Blessing, while an optional short introduction and colla parte accompaniment have been provided for Aaronic Blessing.  All three may, of course, be performed unaccompanied. While united by the theme of benediction, these pieces are distinct in style.  Harvest Blessing refers to the overtone series, while An Irish Blessing makes use of “mitigated planingâ€, in which parts moving as block chords are offset by contrary motion, holds (non-traditional suspensions) and other devices.  Aaronic Blessing is the longest piece in the collection, and features a variety of contrapuntal textures, although it is essentially highly tuneful in character.

The beautiful text by Tagore is itself an inspiration. This would be great material for a student or faculty conservatory recital or public art song recital. Also known as the Book of the All-Virtuous Wisdom (or simply the Book of Wisdom), Ecclesiasticus was written by the Jewish scribe Shimon ben Yeshua ben Eliezer ben Sira (also known as Jesus of Sirach) of Jerusalem. This volume of ethical teachings dates from around 200–175 BCE. Ecce sacerdos magnus is an antiphon and a responsory from the common of confessor bishops in the Liturgy of the Hours and in the Graduale Romanum, and the Epistle in their proper Mass. The responsory is for the festival of a confessor bishop, from the Liber Responsorialis juxta Ritum Monasticum, Solesmes, 1895. Since it is the second responsory of its nocturn, it does not have a half-doxology. The responsory ends with the repetition of the partial respond. Ecce sacerdos magnus has also been set to music by other composers including Anton Bruckner (1824–1896) and Jules Van Nuffel (1883–1953).

This is the first publication of a new Christmas song, set for SATB a cappella and ideal for community or professional choirs. The words are those of a poem by Leonard Clark (1905 – 1981). He was an English poet who was raised in The Forest of Dean, in the west of England. The Forest became his great passion and inspiration; much of his poetry reflects that upbringing and often relates to nature. In 1972 he published a slim little book of Christmas poems, of which ‘The Birth’ is one. What I like about this poem is its simplicity and clarity – and its narrative development through the verses. It starts with the poet waking in the pre-dawn. He then realizes that it is Christmas Day and in the stillness of that time his mind turns to the birth of Jesus, as traditionally told; tenors and basses start this verse. Then he steps out of time and space and looks through his bedroom window to contemplate the mystery of incarnation; sopranos and altos begin this third verse. And he finishes at the stable, offering devotion to the newborn Lord. This song is also available in a version for voice and piano. Drawn from the same book of poems there is available another new Christmas song, called Singing in the Streets; that one is set for baritone and piano. Ian Calvert.

This is a nice, budget friendly way to celebrate Palm Sunday, as it employs one trumpet, piano, and organ, as well as the choir. This would work with a minimum octet choir or larger. Also offered is a Piano-Choral version for the choir to use, which is less pages than the full score. The trumpet part is included at the end of the full score.
