DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications #11745. Published by DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications (A0.784827). ACT TWO: Song 1. The King, by Dennis McCorkle, is a contemporary pop-rock musical of the first two kings of Israel, Saul ben Kish and David ben Jesse and explores the contrasting lives and outcome of each man’s choices in life. [2 Samuel 5:1-3 - Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spoke, saying: 'Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. 2 In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you that did lead out and bring in Israel; and Yahweh said to you: ‘You shall feed My people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.’ 3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel.] The second act opens in the Hebron as DAVID unites the clans and in a grand celebration DAVID is crowned as king over Israel and Judah to the shouts of [Praise God and Long Live the King – Ensemble]. Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1124335 Composed by Christopher Austin, Garth Jennings, and Joby Talbot. Arranged by David Rosborough. Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show. Octavo. 11 pages. David Rosborough #725079. Published by David Rosborough (A0.1124335). A catchy and quirky tune from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005). This arrangement for SATB choir (with some divisi) blends the big choral harmonies of the Broadway-style opening title sequence with the laid-back lounge sensibilities of the end-credits reprise. It can be performed with piano accompaniment only, or with some added percussion and/or bass. This is sure to be a choir- and audience-pleaser!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.837496 Composed by Martin …
(+)
Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.837496 Composed by Martin Rinkart. Arranged by Brett L. Wery. Holiday,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 44 pages. Sonata Grendel Publishing #5753937. Published by Sonata Grendel Publishing (A0.837496). SET B Conductor’s Score,Trumpet 1, Trumpet 2, Horn in F, Trombone, Tuba, Timpani, SATB Choir/Organ Now Thank We All Our God was originally written ca. 1636 by Protestant minister, Martin Rinkart. The melody is attributed to Lutheran Hymnist, Johann Crüger and was used in three J.S. Bach chorales but the most common version we hear today was harmonized by Felix Mendelssohn in 1840. Martin Rinkart was a deacon in Eisleben Germany where he served during the Thirty Years’ War. The city of Eisleben and Rinkart’s own home became a sanctuary for political refugees during the war. The resulting overcrowding in the walled city resulted in a horrible plague which hit its peak in 1637. Rinkart was the only surviving pastor in the city and before the plague was over he would preside over 4000 funerals include that of his own wife. Despite this, it was during this time that he wrote Now thank we all our God. This new setting of Now Thank We All Our God draws on Rinkart’s fierce spirit of optimism and faith in a time of desolation and despair. To paint the picture of the circumstances in which Rinkart wrote the hymn, this setting opens with the text from Psalm 13: How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? The setting turns quickly, in an act of disruptive optimism and faith, to a lopsided dance of joy. In the end, the setting returns to the opening question of Psalm 13, How long? only to be answered by Rinkart’s declaration, Gifts of love today!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1262362 Composed by Sally …
(+)
Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1262362 Composed by Sally Whitwell. 21st Century,Contemporary. Octavo. 17 pages. Sally Whitwell #855402. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.1262362). On the morning of 2 March 2020, I finished writing the first draft of this song. It was the same morning that the New South Wales Rural Fire Service announced that for the first time since July 2019, the state was free of active bush and grass fires. At the time it felt quite euphoric. We’d been through a lot. Little did we know what was coming just a few days from then, when the Covid19 global pandemic reached our shores. It’s a virus that would kill millions across the world, and disable millions more, long term. It forced us, globally, into a kind of reckoning the like of which we had never experienced before. Non pharmaceutical controls like lockdowns, mask mandates, social distancing and ventilation standards were employed to keep us safe from this airborne virus, whilst scientists worked round clock to develop vaccines and treatments.Technically, the declaration of a pandemic is still active, but governments and people have somehow decided for themselves that it is all over. No one takes any precautions any more. Governments have stopped reporting statistics. People who know they are infected are going about their business with no thought for others. Meanwhile, many of the immune-compromised, the disabled, the vulnerable, are unable to safely leave their homes and engage in activities out in the world. I know this, because I am a carer for a vulnerable person. What this whole exercise has taught me is that people in the world are actually much less kind than I thought they were. Humans do not really care for each other. People attack me for wearing a mask, tell me that I’m virtue signalling and that I look ridiculous (as if I care how I look). I’ve asked questions about workplace Covid safety and been informed that it’s “a bit rich†that I’m asking at all, when everything is now safe. A friend’s diagnosed Long Covid symptoms were cruelly minimised or completely dismissed “Oh, it’s not Covid. How old are you? In your forties? It’s your hormones, it’s the menopause.†The fatal combination of sheer selfishness, rampant misinformation and DISinformation continues, whilst people waltz around spreading a deadly virus with no thought for the grief that will undoubtedly ensue. It boils down to this: if we want to continue as a species and to have a planet on which to reside, we have to stop with the Self Care and start with the Community Care. A choir is the perfect instrument for expressing these notions, through the unique power of the massed first person plural. My wish for this piece is that it spurs performer and listener alike into some kind of action. Please consider the effect your actions have on others, and on the planet, and make any changes necessary, however inconvenient or difficult they are. Otherwise, there’s really no point.Sally Whitwell 11 July 2023.

Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1019370). Bring His LoveInspiration (below is a note I sent to my sister) Hi Karen! In the fall of last year I started working on a new church anthem for FUMC. Over the years your choir has sung several pieces of mine; so I felt I should do something in return. I quickly got an idea for the music only (sometimes I will get some lyric ideas also, but didn't this time.) By the first of the year I had the basic structure sketched out on paper but then put it aside for Easter Rehearsals. When the pandemic stopped all church choirs I returned to the music and by early May had the score in the computer, close to completion. At that point I still didn't have any lyrics but began feeling that it should be about God's creation. All I could envision was a singer with his arms stretched out to the sun, the ocean, the moon, etc. while singing this piece. So I started searching for a possible prayer that might fit and came upon Canticle of the Son. As I read it through I liked the structure and began sketching out the lyrics. I couldn't help but wonder what our response should be to God's creation. How should we thank him or praise him or take care of it? I then turned my thoughts to FUMC and considered this - what phrase would sum up this churches mission? I almost immediately got Bring His Love. From there the balance of the lyrics fell into place. So attached is the recording and the music. I have no expectations but hope you and the choir enjoy the music. The Music The piece starts with 16th note broken chords in the upper register of the piano which lead to the opening theme. A tenor soloist begins by singing God's praises for all he has given us; ending with the thought How can we thank such kindness?; The answer Bring His Love the B section. At its conclusion we are returned to the opening theme, this time sung by the choir which again leads us to the same questionHow can we thank such kindness?, The answer Bring His Love the B section. A C section is then introduced with a change to a more beat driven accompaniment with the vocals alternating between the upper and lower voices. A return to the opening theme, with minimal chordal accompaniment, features the original soloist but then adds a second voice leading to a duet and a return to the broken chord accompaniment.. Finally the B section,Bring His Love is repeated and concludes in a rousing fashion.. Program Notes The piece could work very well for Earth Day celebrations.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926671 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 24 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588445. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926671). My dear friend, and Pastor Don Colageo and I cut our teeth together with this piece when we decided to dive headlong into this cycle of Seven Anthems to Christ. It was the second song of the (SEVEN ANTHEMS TO CHRIST) cycle that I had composed, but the first using his Greek translation(s). It eventually would become the last piece to grace the cycle of seven in order of my musical presentation sequence. In fact, this known 1st century Hymn to Christ spans 18 verses of the first chapter of the Gospel of John. My setting of the anthem is seven plus minutes long in performance length. The song's length was not on purpose, but the number seven does have Biblical significance (seven days of creation, seven golden lamp stands, etc.) The number seven is also known among Biblical scholars as the number of Holiness and Perfect Creation. Since this rather long, yet theologically complete Hymn to Christ already existed in the 1st century, it is no wonder the Apostle John opted to begin his Gospel with it, probably quoting the entire text. Consequently, he converted this particular Hymn to Christ’s lyrics into what would later become canonized Scripture. The anthem is composed for SSATB with solo SSA trio, and Solo Soprano and Solo Baritone lines, accompanied by Flute and B♠Clarinet. The key signature of the anthem is B♠Major. However, a lot of time is spent weaving and bobbing around the Dominant chord, (F Major). The Flute and Clarinet introduction play seven different motifs, interweaving with counterpoint, musically connoting the dual natures of Christ--fully God, and fully man. An SSA trio opens the piece recounting the creation story. A bass solo shortly follows, introducing John the baptizer's story and purpose. Soon, the anthem breaks out into full SSATB illustrating Christ's life and purpose for our salvation. The final coda is the great Doxology, sung in 5 parts, accompanied by the Flute and Clarinet, and the entire congregation (or audience) is invited to sing along with the familiar tune.

He holds a PhD in Medieval Literature from the University of Oregon, and has worked as a printer, photographer, oral historian, editor, and visiting writer at a host of colleges and schools, and offered writing workshops in Italy, Scotland, and Bhutan.Shelter in Place by Kim Stafford (used with permission)Long before pandemic prisoned us,the trees knew how to guard their placewith roots and shade.Moss found how to hug a stone for life.Every stream knows how to move in place, stay home and yet flow outward, sending bounty far.Now is our time to practice-now to sing from balconies, now send words of comfortby any courier, now to hoard lonesome generosity-and then to shine in all directions like stars.Program note: Shelter in Place (2021) by Adrienne Inglis, commissioned by Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon, April 2021, sets former Oregon poet laureate Kim Stafford’s poem Shelter in Place (2020) for SSAATB mixed choir with Oregon nature soundtrack created by Chris Clark-Johnson, Lewis & C lark College class of 2021. Written during the coronavirus pandemic, the poem expresses how quarantine can serve as a conduit for healing, how words of comfort flow despite barriers, and how the paralysis of sheltering in place generates creative movement. The music and poem draw inspiration from ancient forest wisdom, shown musically with a pentatonic scale. The tight harmonies of Locrian mode bind moss to stone and stream to its own flow. Then vocal expression bursts forth with lush harmonies as singers serenade from balconies, sharing compassion through music. Returning to the pentatonic scale, we overcome obstacles and send generosity beyond our ancient and modern world into the celestial realm. The nature soundtrack features sounds of the Oregon forest, stream, and night sky.Acknowledgements: The composer warmly thanks Katherine FitzGibbon, Bailey Dean, Chris Clark-Johnson, Kim Stafford, and the Lewis & Clark College Community Chorale. Octavo. 98 pages. Christian Music Ministries #6135917. Published by Christian Music Ministries (A0.927456). Rock - a worship musical.Full piano score with SATB choir, solo parts and narration.Starting in Caesarea, Peter's story unfolds in flashback. From fishing, his 3 years on the road alongside Jesus and the disciples, his triumphs and failures. Jesus calls Peter 'the Rock' - but we see that only in Christ, and filled with His Spirit, is Peter on solid ground.Synopsis Traditional words introduce the theme of the Musical: Jesus is our ROCK OF AGES, but the story starts IN CAESAREA BESIDE THE SEA. Here, centurion Cornelius declares I’ve had a vision - but who can explain it, who can help? Cornelius’ household tell of Simon Peter, a disciple of Jesus, and we are taken back to Galilee when Peter, a fisherman, WORKING IN THE FAMILY BUSINESS, hears Jesus’ call to leave your nets and leave your boats. He responds I WILL FOLLOW YOU. For three years Peter follows Jesus, and when challenged declares YOU ARE MESSIAH, the Son of the living God! Jesus replies On this rock I will build my church, then, ominously, points towards Jerusalem. He and his followers eventually arrive in the city at Passover, and during the meal they wonder IN THIS BREAD, IN THIS WINE, is there love for me? At first reluctant, Peter allows Jesus to wash his feet. Events turn against Jesus; he is arrested, and Peter is afraid. The taunt SURELY YOU MUST HAVE BEEN WITH HIM sees Peter denying he ever knew Jesus. Then their eyes meet across the courtyard, and Peter is devastated by his own failure. But even at such an awful time as this, THE LOOK OF LOVE contains acceptance and hope. WERE YOU THERE WHEN THEY CRUCIFIED MY LORD? Peter wasn’t - he was in hiding along with many of the disciples. But after the resurrection, Jesus greets Peter and the others in Galilee: THIS IS THE PLACE – I am the Lord who comes to meet you here. Jesus asks: SIMON PETER, DO YOU LOVE ME? After being asked three times Peter reaches reality: Lord, you know everything … you know how much I love you! and receives the commission Feed my sheep. Peter and the disciples return to Jerusalem, and wait for the promised Holy Spirit. At Pentecost the Spirit comes, and as A CHOSEN PEOPLE, the followers of Jesus receive his power. Peter preaches, and thousands believe and respond JUST AS I AM … O Lamb of God I come. The Church is born and in the power of the Spirit begin WORKING IN THE FATHER’S BUSINESS, doing the things that Jesus did! Peter eventually arrives IN CAESAREA BESIDE THE SEA. He shares his vision with Cornelius and his household, and declares God has no favourites … you can be saved too … if you believe in Jesus. They believe, receive the power of the Spirit, and Gentiles also become members of the Chosen People, called out of darkness into wonderful light! Peter’s vision is fulfilled – the Gospel is for all who believe in Jesus. Peter declares HE IS THE STONE that the builders rejected … on Jesus the ROCK I will build my life! .

Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1019363). We Have A Friend, Church Anthem for Soloists, SATB and Piano composed in 2017. Inspiration Each year Fall and Winter bring an end to the growing season ushering in a dormant period within the seasonal cycle. Spring and Summer follow with new life and a time when we can again enjoy nature at its fullest. Our own lives mirror similar cycles; sometimes we are faced with events bringing us sadness and despair and other times peace and joy. In the end Jesus and God's great love are our Spring and Summer. This piece attempts to portray this contrast, comparing the seasons to our own lives and reminding us that in the end We Have A Friend who helps us. The Music The piece begins with soloists portraying the seasons of the year and how they relate to our lives. A transition then occurs where we're reminded that when we are down and out, and we need a helping hand, we have a friend in the Lord Jesus.

Nottingham Scores #350889. Published by Nottingham Scores (A0.742755). T.I.M.E., a work for SATB Choir, expresses the mystery of time, how it passes, how we use it and how it grants new beginnings. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have experienced time and what is important to us in different ways. Certainly, there have been moments of uncertainty, anxiety, even panic over danger of contracting the virus, the long-term effects of the virus and the loss of life. In isolation, awaiting further instructions, we have had time to reflect, prepare and imagine. We have had to manage life with new guidelines and restrictions, while trying to keep ourselves and others safe. This work attempts to put time in perspective, with a message of hope for recovery, and a better understanding of how to move forward with passion and grace. The message is not just for life in a pandemic, but for life, in general. Hopefully, this work can stand the “test of timeâ€, finding a meaningful place in the repertoire.

Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576884). Setting of a poem by David Dunning extolling the virtues of idleness and its effects in each season. The sound sample here was the first performance, performed by a singing group in our college back in 1976. The author of the words is singing with the tenors and I am playing the guitar part. These are the words of the original poem: When autumn harvests are full grown and luscious fruits to me are shown, piled plump and rich till stomachs groan when autumn harvests are full grown ripe juices puddle on the tongue, and winter I forget in gurgling song. once when the fresh new spring was here I lavished though to sow the year oh dreaming seasons never interfere with worldly bounty, scorned the prudent song and prayed March winds to buffet time along Soon in the heat of summer haze I floundered on through deep green maize, where heavy herds lowed as they grazed, I saw that I would reap in thought among the rich; and time moved on with busy song, now in the heat of summer Now winter creeps between the sashes and rain upon the window lashes while wild wind moans round rafters dashes and I to annual poverty belong, yet know that spring flows richly on in song When autumn harvests are full grown and luscious fruits to me are shown, piled plump and rich till stomachs groan when autumn harvests are full grown ripe juices puddle on the tongue, and winter I forget in gurgling song.

It is undeniable that we humans are, as a species, outgrowing our small planet. As populations boom and technologies diversify, we are increasingly unable to run away from our problems. As a result, violence in civilized society is increasing at an alarming rate. How do we combat those that do harm to others, and more importantly, how do we convince our race as a whole that the problem cannot long be ignored? This original poem and its musical setting seek to pay tribute to the victims of violence in the modern United States. In an age where it seems a new tragedy has occurred somewhere every day, this work is titled 365 to represent each day of the year. The poem is structured in seven stanzas for the days of the week, and there are twelve iterations of Three hundred and sixty-five for the twelve months in the year. The final, introspective stanza parallels the poignant Christian story of Christ's crucifixion at the hands of his brethren, and lends a darker side of thought with the chosen grouping of words (read either no more; God forgive us or no more God; forgive us). This text humbly seeks to draw attention to what exactly is happening among us, among our neighbors, our governors, and our legislators, and the importance of addressing this ever-growing crisis in our society.

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.931836 Composed by Nathan Petitpas - Dots and Beams. Instructional. Octavo. 137 pages. Dots and Beams #4776187. Published by Dots and Beams (A0.931836). This collection presents its user with a series of increasingly difficult rhythms on a single pitch. The rhythmic material in this series is organized into 10 difficulty levels. Each difficulty level contains four exercises in each of the following time signatures: 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 6/8, 9/8, and 12/8. This gives exercises in 2, 3, and 4 beats per bar in both simple and compound meters. The first two exercises of each time signature have no ties while the remaining two exercises in each time signature include ties. In Book 1 of this series you’ll find difficulty levels 1 to 5, while Book 2 completes the set with levels 6 to 10. The exercises in this collection are intentionally random and difficult to internalize. They don’t follow any predictable or standard groove pattern, but instead are random successions of eighth- and sixteenth-note groupings within the prescribed difficulty level. In keeping the rhythmic material as unpredictable as possible the door is left open for the materials to be used in conjunction with any number of exercises, while forcing the user to process every rhythm as its own event without relying on pattern recognition to help in identifying the rhythms. To curate the difficulty of rhythm in as objective a way as possible I looked at all of the possible eighth-note and sixteenth-note groupings within the basic unit of one beat. Each difficulty level builds on the exercises of the previous by adding groupings that are slightly more conceptually challenging. Difficulty Level 9 contains all possible groupings, while Level 10 focuses on the more challenging groupings by omitting easy ones. Some suggestions for how to use this book include: Practice sight-reading. When doing so it is encouraged to cycle through the exercises quickly rather than dwelling on a particular exercise for a long period of time. The goal in practising sight-reading is not to learn the material but to develop the skill of reading new material. Use a metronome! The most important thing you can do with this material is learn how to read these rhythms and play them in time. Advanced metronome work: Place the metronome click on weak beats. With the metronome clicking only on the beat you run the risk of relying on the metronome to give you the time. Placing the metronome click on non-strong beats forces you to take responsibility for the time. For example, instead of putting the metronome click on each quarter-note in 4/4, play the exercise with the metronome giving the second eighth note of each beat, or the last sixteenth note, or beats 2 and 4, or only the downbeat of each bar. Be creative with this one! The possibilities are limitless. Develop independence between hands by playing a repeating pattern in one hand while reading an exercise in the other. Expand on this by adding patterns in hands and feet while reading a rhythm with a remaining limb. This is a great exercise for drummers and percussionists but any instrumentalist could benefit from coordination practice. Use these rhythms to practice scales. Instead of playing scales in straight sixteenth-notes, try playing them in the rhythms given in these exercises. Write in sticking patterns, dynamics, accents, phrase marks, or other articulations for you or your students to practice. If you’re not happy with the ties I included, feel free to add some of your own. Combine the above exercises in any way that you think will be beneficial to your practice. As with any of the Dots and Beams books, the uses for this particular collection are limited only by the imagination of the musician using it. I encourage anybody using this book to find as many uses for these exerci.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.894408 Composed by Zack Richards. Holiday,Patriotic,Sacred,Spiritual,World. Octavo. 6 pages. Zack Richards #5821179. Published by Zack Richards (A0.894408). I wrote this piece in response to the #BlackLivesMatter Protests across the United States and world during the early summer of 2020. The extreme extent of peaceful protests and violent riots demonstrated the desperate need for change in a way I had not witnessed before. I knew quickly that I wanted to write music in some sort of response to the situation, but I struggled at first to find my voice within the movement. I am a white male and have experienced the privilege that comes with it. No matter how much I sympathized or understood the struggles of minorities in our culture, I knew I could not possibly bring the full meaning of it through my music, as I could never really experience the trials they have faced constantly for so long. So instead I decided to write words and music that reflected how I hoped things would be going forward after this movement. I wanted this to be an anthem for those who have suffered through real oppression, in any form. While there are some religious undertones in the text I chose, I tried to find words that could resonate with anyone, reaching beyond color, culture, belief, orientation, age, or any other dividing label. I tried to write in regard to one thing we all have in common, humanity. I hope I was able to accomplish this. The anthem can be done in parts or unison or as a solo. It can also be done with or without accompaniment.
