Published by Eric Hagmann (A0.796809). An SATB + Solo contemporary a cappella arrangement of Bad Case of Loving You by Robert Palmer. Released in 1978 by John Moon Martin and then covered the very next year by Robert Palmer, this driving-rock spin on the traditional blues form fits perfectly as a piece just for voices. Contains alternate lyrics which could be used by a female soloist. In the hands of a skilled vocal percussionist, the propulsive rhythm of Bad Case thumps alongside the bass; thus laying the groundwork for your soloist and setting the electric tone for the entire song. Rather than mimicking the guitar licks of the original piece, the supporting vocals fill the void between phrases and then pack a true punch when finally getting to the chorus that we all know and love. At the bridge, the bass has a moment to shine on the melody before handing it off to the altos to finish the section. This is followed directly by a unique departure from the original tune - a breakdown where all but one section drops out. Over a short time, each part layers themselves back into the texture, thus building to an exciting climax where the vocal percussionist resumes the original groove along with the full support of the rest of your singers.High energy and lots of fun, this arrangement is great for your high school or college ensemble! .

Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1373417). I originally wrote Total Eclipse as an expressive Art Song for solo voice and piano. Â I used several lines of poetry from Newburgh Hamilton (1741) and set them to unique music that is a fusion of Classical, Romantic, and Modern, with a touch of Pop. Â The music expressively drifts from major to minor to modal every few measures, inspired by the themes of darkness and light. Â When I adapted it for SATB I filled out the already rich harmony and added ethereal 'oo's under some of the melody. Â In a few brief measures, at different places, SAB each will have a divisi line where it splits to 2 parts. Â (The texture is never thicker than 5 parts at once.) Â This approachable piece of music is a good introduction for singers to the interpretation of an Art Song and is a dramatic performance piece for concert. Â And perfect for the upcoming April 8 total eclipse!(Haydn also used variations of this text to create several Recitatives and an Aria for his oratorio Samson.) Piece can be performed by two single voices, or by splitting a large choir (ex. women and men or sopranos/tenors and altos/bass). The piece begins with William J Kirkpatrick's beloved melody with the second verse the alternate anonymous melody. For the third verse, both melodies combine together in a surprisingly natural way. The piano accompaniment throughout is written to be reminiscent of a guitar strumming. This piece includes an optional clarinet solo. English, German.Gustav Mahler (1860–1911) completed the composition of this work in 1901. The original version, scored for solo voice and chamber orchestra, is one of the Rückert-Lieder (Friedrich Rückert, poet [1788–1866]). Stanley M. Hoffman completed his arrangement for SATB chorus and piano in 2001. Hoffman says of his arrangement: Rather than taking the easy way out by placing a pre-existing accompaniment from a piano/vocal score beneath the newly created alto, tenor, and bass choral parts (the soprano part retaining the original melody throughout), I went back to the orchestral score and created my own piano reduction. Bracketed items indicate editorial additions intended to make the arrangement more effective. The piece should be performed in a hushed manner throughout. This edition also includes a sensitively conceived English singing translation by Robert Schuneman.In 2015, Stanley M. Hoffman inserted his choral arrangement into the original chamber orchestra score. Duration: 6:00.

The joyful main theme is in 7/8 time and divides into two plus two plus three. It might sound tricky but singers will soon get to feel the rhythm. It’s scored for SATB choir with keyboard accompaniment. It is intended for school, college or community choir in which the singers have some experience of indpendent parts. In the middle section, sopranos are divisi and there are opportunities for solos though they are optional. Audiences and singers alike are sure to enjoy this joyful music and the keyboard part is fairly straightforward. It would be a great addition to your Christmas concert or service. The vocal ranges are well within the normal range and are as follows: Soprano C4 - F5; Alto A3 - D5; Tenor: C3 - E4 and Bass: F2 - C4. Freylinghausen), with words based on Acts 8:35. The original recording was made at Hawkins' church, the Ephesian Church of God in Christ in Berkeley, California, by the Edwin Hawkins Singers. In 1969 it became an international hit, reaching No. 4 in the US, No. 1 in France, Germany and the Netherlands, and No. 2 in Canada, the UK and Ireland. In 1970, it won a Grammy Award for Best Soul Gospel Performance.Kathleen McGuire's choral arrangement, based on the SISTER ACT 2: BACK IN THE HABIT version, was first performed by the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus with Transcendence Gospel Choir in 2004 (recorded on their collaborative OH, HAPPY DAY! live CD) and has since been performed by many choirs in the US and Australia. The SATB is a re-voicing of McGuire's TTBB arrangement, which calls for a soloist and a choir ready to memorize the music, sway and clap! It includes key changes and opportunities for dynamic contrasts and dramatic ad lib solo(s). Included with the piano-vocal score is a separate part for bass guitar. A drum kit is essential, too - an experience drummer can easily follow the bass part. The piano part includes chord symbols, allowing for the addition of a rhythm guitarist. Also available for TTBB.
