Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1496732 Composed by PERSONENT HODIE from the Piae Cantones, 1583. Arranged by Ken Litton. 20th Century,Advent,Christian,Christmas,Sacred. 19 pages. Artist of Note, Inc. #1073248. Published by Artist of Note, Inc. (A0.1496732). Jazz Hodie (On this Day Earth Shall Ring)PERSONENT HODIE arr. Ken Litton (ASCAP) Those who have the good fortunate to hear Gustav Holst’s arrangement of PERSONENT HODIE as a choral processional with its engaging melody, measured gait and echoed text have never forgotten the magical moment—and were never really ready for it to end. Hailing from the The Oxford Book of Carols this German plainsong melody—from the Piae Cantones, 1583—has made its way into strong choral and worship traditions at Advent/Christmas.Of all the current texts and arrangements available, this version honors Holst’s unison accompanied setting in an unexpected subtle jazz styling, with the hope of bringing additional range to its established place in advent literature (both in terms of style and in appeal to a variety of age groups). And, On This Day Earth Shall Ring, translated by Jane M. Joseph (text in the public domain) gives it just the traditional touch needed for Jazz Hodie (On this Day). This SATB setting of the tune offers accompaniment designed for piano or organ, optional acoustic/string bass and an optional part for a single player involving three of the percussionist section best friends in the : the suspended cymbal, mallets (vibraphone, marimba or bells or bell lyre), and a small triangle. It should be noted that an electronic piano/synthesizer voice could substitute well for the mallets and the use of handbells is also viable. Perfect for Lessons & Carols presentations! The unison singing and bell-tone echoes of the first stanza/refrain soon give way to smooth, contrasting jazz harmony. The choral ranges are very much within the reach of the average choir and the voicings vary from unison to three and four parts, followed by a return to the character of the opening. The piece builds toward a close with a choral ascent in the final bars and a bass line reminiscent of the first verse, but with an extra jazz twist. But, it can easily be restarted for processional use by simply dropping back into the C minor introduction’s bass line. Note: the String Bass/Electric Bass part is included! Also available in a Hymn Sheet Version that includes everything needed for a small ensembe and/or the worshiping congregation. All this from the places you go for the best in downloadable resources:Sheet Music Direct Sheet Music Plus As well as via Hal Leonard InStore™ retailers. Also…be sure to check out other titles from East of the Altar/Artist of Note, Inc.Thanks, as always to the good folks at ArrangeMe.com, a division of Hal Leonard.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1359972 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Lent,Sacred. 4 pages. Con Spirito Music #944462. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1359972). “Lord Jesus, Think on Me†is a translation and free paraphrase of a 5th-century poem by Synesius of Cyrene (ca. 375-414), Bishop of Ptolemais in north Africa and contemporary of Augustine, Bishop of Hippo (354-430). Synesius was a public servant and statesman, a neo-Platonic philosopher and poet. In 410, he was popularly chosen as Bishop of Ptolemais, a position he reluctantly accepted, as his views on certain beliefs of the church, including the soul's creation, a literal resurrection, and the end of the world (eschatos) were unorthodox. In the last of 10 odes Synesius authored, he describes himself bowing humbly in the presence of Christ. In the 1930s, a literal prose translation of the ode was made by the Anglican cleric Harold Costley-White:Be mindful, Christ Son of Godwho rules on high, of thy servant, sinful of heart, who wrote these words. And grant to me release from passions breeding death, which are inborn in my unclean soul. But give me to behold, Saviour Jesus, thy divine brightness, wherein appearingI shall sing a song,to the healer of souls,to the healer of limbs, with the great Fatherand the Holy Spirit.Amen. The text of this setting for SATB voices and organ selects verses from a free paraphrase of that ode, crafted by the Anglican priest and scholar, Allen William Chatfield (1808-1896) and published in his Songs and Hymns of Earliest Greek Christian Poets (1876):Lord Jesus, think on me and purge away my sin; from earthborn passions set me free, and make me pure within. Lord Jesus, think on me, nor let me go astray; through dark-ness and perplexity point Thou the heav'nly way.Lord Jesus, think on me amid the battle's strife; in all my pain and misery be Thou my Health and Life.Lord Jesus, think on me with many a care oppressed; let me Thy loving servant be and taste Thy promised rest.Lord Jesus, think on me that I may sing above to Fa-ther, Spirit, and to Thee the strains of praise and love. The incipit of each verse, “Lord Jesus, think on [remember] me, recalls the words of the penitent thief to Jesus at their crucifixion, and the petitions for guidance, forgiveness, and succor make this a fitting anthem for the penitential season of Lent. ©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576492 Composed by various traditional. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Christian,Christmas. Octavo. 8 pages. David Warin Solomons #27253. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576492). It all began with the idea one morning that the other tune for Nahum Tate's carol While shepherds watched is, of course, the Yorkshire ditty On Ilkley moor bar t'hat. Well, as the afternoon progressed, other tunes got added, resulting in a curious potpourri for choir and piano. The choir gets to sing On Ilkla Moor, the Este psalter tune known to all, and also Auld Lang Syne. The second voice, in its madrigalian way, gets a sly English cadence!. Meanwhile, the piano gets some sly references to Sing a song of sixpence and Scotland the brave. I sang it in G on this mp3, to fit my multitrack range, but versions are available on sheetmusicplus in G (ATBB), C (SATB) (fairly high for the sopranos) and Bflat (SATB) (fairly low for the basses) It can also be seen as a video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRXrzrSY-Vw === While shepherds watched their flocks by night, All seated on the ground, The angel of the Lord came down, And glory shone around. Fear not! said he, for mighty dread Had seized their troubled mind. Glad tidings of great joy I bring To you and all mankind. To you, in David's town, this day Is born of David's line A Saviour, who is Christ the Lord, And this shall be the sign: The heavenly babe you there shall find To human view displayed, All meanly wrapped in swathing bands, And in a manger laid. Thus spake the seraph and forthwith appeared a shining throng of angels praising God who thus addressed their joyful song All glory be to God on high, And to the Earth be peace; Good will henceforth from heaven to men, Begin and never cease!.

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1100378 Composed by Sarum chant. Arranged by Sara Garrard. Christmas,Holiday,Medieval,Religious,Sacred. Octavo. 7 pages. Sara Garrard #704207. Published by Sara Garrard (A0.1100378). The words and melody of 'Christe redemptor omnium' are hundreds of years old. Here is an arrangement of the Christmas plainchant hymn for SATB choir divisi, the effect warm and full, building over the sevenfold structure of the piece. 1. Christe, redemptor omnium, ex Patre, Patris unice, solus ante principium natus ineffabiliter, 2. Tu lumen, tu splendor Patris, tu spes perennis omnium, intende quas fundunt preces tui per orbem servuli. 3. Salutis auctor, recole quod nostri quondam corporis, ex illibata Virgine nascendo, formam sumpseris. 4. Hic praesens testatur dies, currens per anni circulum, quod a solus sede Patris mundi salus adveneris; 5. Hunc caelum, terra, hunc mare, hunc omne quod in eis est, auctorem adventus tui laudat exsultans cantico. 6. Nos quoque, qui sancto tuo redempti sumus sanguine, ob diem natalis tui hymnum novum concinimus. 7. Jesu, tibi sit gloria, qui natus es de Virgine, cum Patre et almo Spiritu, in sempiterna saecula. Amen. Rhymed English translation by John Mason Neale (1818-1866) 1. O Christ, the Father's only Son, whose death for all redemption won, before the worlds, of God most high, begotten all ineffably. 2. The Father's Light and Splendour Thou their endless Hope to Thee that bow: accept the prayers and praise today that through the world Thy servants pay. 3. Salvation's author, call to mind how, taking the form of humankind, born of a Virgin undefiled, Thou in man's flesh becamest a Child. 4. Thus testifies the present day Through every year in long array, that Thou, salvation's source alone proceedest from the Father's Throne. 5. Whence sky, and stars, and sea's abyss, and earth, and all that therein is, shall still, with laud and carol meet, the Author of thine Advent greet. 6. And we who, by Thy precious Blood from sin redeemed, are marked for God, on this, the day that saw Thy Birth, sing the new song of ransomed earth. 7. All honour, laud, and glory be, O Iesu, Virgin-born, to Thee; whom with the Father we adore, and Holy Ghost forevermore. Amen.
