Published by Volker Bublitz (A0.1215213). It's all a matter of taste, but doubtless to say: Paul McCartney is one of the most gifted songwriters of the recent decades. But a few works are not as genius in my humble opinion. One of these less wonderful songs is Wonderful Christmastime although it is sounding out of every speaker during christmas holidays. So I tried to give it a different feeling. What about sounding jazzy in a silent, sentimental mood? So I found out the core of the composing is nice and genius, it's only the sound of the production which gave me a bitter taste. Purist composers may find some parallel fourths, but that's Jazz! The arrangement is written for more ambitious a cappella singers as it is packed with chromatic lines in the style of Kirby Shaw or other jazzy arrangers. Enjoy!

Songs My Mother Taught Me is a song originally composed in 1880 for voice and piano by AntonÃn Dvořák. It is the fourth of seven songs from his cycle Gypsy Songs Op. 55. This song, in particular, has achieved widespread popularity. This sentimental song, filled with warm emotion, has been performed and recorded by a number of well-known artists as diverse as Glenn Miller and Fritz Kreisler. And, the influence of Czech folk-song is immediately recognizable. This arrangement has been expanded to include 4-part mixed choir (English text), organ and brass quintet. The Christmas carol I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day, based on the 1863 poem Christmas Bells by American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, was set to music by Johnny Marks in 1956. Longfellow’s poem tells of the impact of hearing Christmas bells during the American Civil War. Marks, and other arrangers and performers normally omit the mention of the war in their adaptations of the poem. This arrangement uses the complete text of Longfellow’s masterpiece, and through respect to the text, (using choral colors and styles), honors what this arranger considers to be Marks intention, a simple hymn-tune narrative of America in time of crisis much like today.
