Anmerkung der Komponistin Das Vaterunser (Global Version) ist eine zeitgenössische Fassung des Vaterunsers, in der pentatonische Tonleitern und Kombinationen aus traditionellen und nicht-traditionellen Harmonien und Rhythmen verwendet werden. Das Gebet selbst ist ein Plädoyer dafür, dass Gottes Wille in jedem von uns getan wird. Infolgedessen sollte während der gesamten Arbeit eine aufrichtige und ernsthafte Stimmung im Vordergrund stehen. Die meisten Christen kennen das Gebet auswendig in ihrer eigenen Sprache und es wird heute von jeder christlichen Tradition verwendet. Ich habe die globale Version für drei verschiedene Sprachen geschrieben: Englisch, Deutsch und Koreanisch. Diese Hymne ist im Stil des Responsorial-Gesangs gehalten: Ein Solist singt eine Linie, der der Chor oder die Klavierbegleitung folgen. Jede Passage wird auf ihre eigene Weise entwickelt, aber die übliche Technik, die in dieser Arbeit verwendet wird, ist die systematische Verwendung von Wiederholungen, die dem Vorhandenen neue Texturschichten hinzufügen (z. Gabriel Lawson #900446. Published by Gabriel Lawson (A0.1311441). “Be Still, My Soul†is a beautifully comforting and beloved poem written by Katharina von Schlegel in 1752. Translated by Jane Borthwick in 1855, this comforting and hope inspiring hymn is set to the tune Finlandia, composed by Jean Sibelius in 1899. The tune first appeared in Sibelius' tone poem, Finlandia, Op. 26, and the poem and tune were first brought together in 1927 by David Evans.For four-part SATB Mixed Chorus (occasional alto and soprano divisi) with piano accompaniment.This arrangement opens with a comforting combination of major and lydian chords. Each verse represents a slight variation of harmony and text painting. The sopranos have the melody in the first two verses and sing of hope and guidance (key of E-flat Major). The key moves down a half step and the altos take on the heartfelt melody for verse three (key of D Major). Finally, the key changes once more (key of A-flat Major) for a joyful celebration, and the fourth verse ends with a unison tonic pitch as the piano brings back the major/lydian idea.Difficulty 5/10.Soprano Db4-Ab5.Alto G3-B4.Tenor Eb3-G4.Bass F2-Eb4.

This is a beautiful rendition of the familiar chant, keeping the intent of early chant and choral sound, but within a more contemporary harmonic palette. It begins simply and ends in a very uplifting, positive manner, with several transpositions along the way. However, the feeling of plainchant is always present in each variation as they evolve. This is the first of what I hope to be a collection of hymn arrangements for choir that follow the Christian Church Year, this one being Advent season. Of course it can be sung anytime that fits the situation, but I used the United Methodist Hymnal suggestion for an Advent hymn. The piano simulates bells and chimes, and the voices sometimes do also. A very uplifting arrangement, while not so difficult as to discourage choirs. It employs the concept of canon and contemporary harmonies. I hope you and your choir or choral organization enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

German.'Valet will ich dir geben – Du arge, falsche Welt…' Based on the sacred poem of Valerius Herberger and written in the style of Melchior Teschner's chorale melody, the French composer Naji Hakim (*1955) wrote a moving work for choir and organ. The five chorale variations lead from heavenly joy in the choral parts to a charming setting for solo organ; then Hakim moves on to a setting for a cappella choir and a canon for soprano and alto with organ accompaniment. The expressive work ends with a lively toccata which is complemented by an expressive adagio in the middle.
