Songs from the Book Of Revelation is a powerful new cantata (SATB) and piano accompaniment consisting of 14 original songs from the book of Revelation that may be performed on any occasion throughout the year. I wrote this work during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic. I was inspired to praise God and compose new music using text from the book of Revelation. Next to each song title, I have provided the bible verses for easy access. I arranged the songs in chronological order, but may be sung in any order. Most of the songs are easy to medium in difficulty level, including the piano accompaniment. One of the songs titled Amen! Amen! (Revelation 7:12) is sung and played in whole tone scale and is challenging to perform. There is a couple of short solos, and acapella sections throughout the cantata. Check out the MIDI sample and video of this entire cantata in my YouTube channel with the link provided. All lyrics are shown on the screen as the music is playing. Enjoy performing this cantata and to God be the glory! Performance time is about 38 minutes (with repeats).

Part A starts with a haunting but beautiful vocal line eventually being enhanced with rich harmonic tones. Part B is the same tempo as Part A but is now in a major key with splendid harmonies which starts to give the song an uplifting feeling. Part C is now faster with each voice getting a chance to shine with gorgeous melodic lines. This song can be sung by a high school choir or an adult choir. A note from the composer; I wrote Smile because I am around young people a lot and there is so much talk about sadness and suicide in today’s culture. I wanted to write a song that gave them hope. Sometimes it just takes a smile from you to turn someone’s day around. It can also work in reverse. Someone may take the time to smile at you to turn your day into a good day. So smile, it’s free.

This arrangement, which follows the PTX cover very closely, is great fun. It takes attention to detail, especially rhythmic precision, but it's well-worth the work. Who We Love by Sam Smith is a moving ballad that has beautiful harmonic integrity. This arrangement is for average- to larger-sized SATB a cappella groups, and sits at a intermediate-advanced difficulty for high school/collegiate groups. This arrangement is similarly for the a cappella group looking to explore cluster chords while fulfilling a slow, but moving ballad slot for your song set. While there isn’t a vocal percussionist part in the score, there is a slight amount of body percussion involved in the second verse, which can be replaced by a vocal percussionist if desired.This arrangement features incredible harmonies, including many cluster chords that sound full and rich; these cluster chords are often met with two- and occasionally three-part splits within each voice part, which makes it crucial for each part to be solid. If your group does not have enough members to satisfy the three-part splits, one of the notes can be omitted for a similar sounding product. Additionally, there are two solo opportunities featured, each with the exact same range. If only one solo is desired, the soloist can simply follow the melody. The other motet in this set is a setting of the Nunc dimittis (Song of Simeon). Using the standard ICET English texts, both motets serve many liturgical functions but of course may be sung at other times as well. If performed in a concert, these motets may be performed individually or as a set since both are in F major.
