With these arrangements, all the money sued to purchase these arrangements goes to special charity or cause . This specific arrangement is for Breast Cancer . This is something that 1 in 8 women will develop in their lifetime, and is special to me because I've had family members, friends and co-workers effected by this cancer. Generally speaking, for October, I would arrange so fun or scary Halloween song, however, October is Breast Cancer Awareness. I could not think of anything better to do than a beautiful arrangement , to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer. This well written, beautiful song by Kate Bush would make a great addition to your music library, something very different and memorable not only for a general audience , but especially for an event celebrating Women , for a breast cancer survivor, for friends and family also effected by this cancer , or a movie or tv themed concert because this song was featured in the movie in She's having a Baby :, to tv shows like Alias and recently in The Hand Maids Tale . My musical adolescence was spent singing music of the African and African American traditions with Essence of Joy. This piece, written for them in 2015, was inspired by those experiences and integrates spirituals that had special significance to me during my time in EOJ. There are quotations from Over My Head; Bye and Bye; My Lord, What a Morning; Great Day; and Oh, Freedom. During the climax of the piece, these spirituals combine into a moving tapestry of half-forgotten songs. The maximum is SSSSSAAAAATTTBBB, with the staves laid out as S1a/b, S2, S3a/b, A1a/b, A2a/b, A3, T1/2, T3/B1, B2/3. The use of a/b divisi is due to the fact that the those parts only go to divisi for a new chords at the end of the piece. There is also plenty of part-doubling throughout the arrangement, and this has been carefully considered to aid both balance and voice-leading, although the former is given priority. Collier pulls no punches emotionally or technically with this piece, which features Bass 3 singing C1 in a few places and Soprano 1 singing D6 in the final moments. Choirs without the lowest bass notes can safely omit them and sing the Bass 2 parts instead.

In the Midst of Wild Being (2007) for SATB chorus, horn, and harp was commissioned by the King’s Chapel Concert Series, Heinrich Christensen, director, with the support of Choral Arts New England. The work was written in memory of American composer Daniel Pinkham (1923–2006), longtime director of music at King’s Chapel. The texts, written by American poet Elizabeth Kirschner, are directly inspired by the landscape of New England-though the sentiments reflected by the poems can apply to many places. Throughout, the focus is on the chorus, whose music is colored by the horn and harp. The Garden begins with an extended, unfolding introduction for horn and harp; the pace is that of a slow, steady walk. Though the pace remains, the music raises itself to rich climaxes in celebration of the verdant landscape. The Sea is a light and airy dance featuring a bouncy melodic theme that returns a number of times. The Forest is rich and expressive, reflecting true oneness with the landscape.

Dixit Maria was written for Portishead Summer Singers in 2006 to be premiered in a service of Nine Lessons and Carols. The Latin text translates as:Mary said to the Angel: Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me, according to your word.The work is written in four parts, but splits into eight for a short section. It is based around the key of F# major, but modulates to other keys, some of which are unexpected. There are two big climaxes, and the music dies away at the end as Mary understands the meaning of the angel's words. Dixit Maria takes inspiration from the intricate and rich textures of the Renaissance era, while infusing it with the harmonic depth and complexity of more contemporary music.

The piece is composed in three sections, representative of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The close harmonies create the mournful emotional tension. Word painting and story telling is apparent throughout, especially in passages such as resúrget, in which a solo soprano soars above the choir representing the ascension to heaven, and the repeated Lacrimósa, paints an image of tears falling down ones face. A sense of urgency begins to build in the Judicándus section, and the melodic and harmonic structure changes. As the harmonies build and tempo increases you can feel the fear of the unknown future which lies ahead. Begging and pleading for forgiveness ensues as the voices call out, párce Déus, to be seated at the Father’s side. As the tension builds and harmonies become more complex the piece escalates to its climax and comes to an abrupt end. After a slight pause, the calm settles in. Judgement has been passed and the tenors transition us to the PÃe Jésu section with Dóna éis réquiem, surrounded by the return of the melodic motif meant to appear as the angels delivering the assurances of God’s mercifulness. The final phrase dóna éis réquiem, is sung with cross voicing found in the tenor and bass section representing the ascension to heaven as the harmonies settle into their final resting place.

It might also be particularly suitable for Remembrance services.The Jacobean poet Phineas Fletcher’s passionate prayer of repentance is here set to music for SATB choir and organ. In a series of pulsating descending scales the author’s words express heartfelt remorse for his sins, reflecting the story of Jesus and the weeping woman in Luke 7:36ff. This is real, deep sorrow and regret, looking to the Prince of Peace for forgiveness: at one poignant moment the music reaches a point of stillness as the slow tears continue to fall. The weeping then turns to anger, crying for vengeance, because sin doth never cease. The music rises to an intense climax, but suddenly vanishes; the anger is, after all, self-directed. Finally the text returns to a prayer of supplication to drown all my faults and fears, and the harmonies end with a hope-filled hint of future healing. Drop, drop, slow tears, and bathe those beauteous feet, which brought from heaven the news and Prince of Peace. According to the structure of poem, the music also contains two verses, but the second verse travels the variation with soprano solo, which then develops into large climax. It builds to a grand climax on the words we’re going home (meaning heaven of course), and then settles down into a peaceful reflection on the final words of the poem.
